Claims
- 1. An electrical connector for terminating the end of an electrically conductive wire comprising;
- a body member having upper, central and lower portions;
- at least one elongated tang formed integrally with and extending from said lower portion, said tang having a lower surface for engaging a mounting surface;
- means forming a wire receiving opening extending through said central body opening;
- means for clamping the wire securely in said wire receiving opening;
- means forming a mounting aperture extending through said tang;
- means forming a plurality of notches in and extending across the lower surface of the tang for improving the electrical and thermal contact of the connector with the mounting surface; and wherein
- said central body portion, in the dimension parallel to the axis of the wire receiving opening, is smaller than the diameter of the set screw, said diameter being at the point where said set screw meets the wire.
- 2. The connector of claim 1 wherein said wire receiving opening has its central axis oriented substantially parallel to both the long dimension of said tang and parallel to the plane of the tang.
- 3. The connector of claim 1 wherein said plurality of notches are formed in the lower planar surface of said tang in the area immediately surrounding the mounting aperture.
- 4. The connector of claim 1 wherein said notches are cut into the lower surface of the connector.
- 5. The connector of claim 1 wherein said means for clamping the wire in said wire receiving opening comprises a set screw, and means forming a threaded opening in said upper portion of said body member for receiving said set screw and for allowing said set screw to extend into said wire receiving opening when tightened.
- 6. The connector of claim 1 wherein said central body portion is rectangular in cross-section in a plane parallel to the plane of the tang.
- 7. The connector of claim 1 further including means forming recess in the upper surface of the tang for receiving the wire and for forming a wire stop.
- 8. The connector of claim 1 further including means forming grooves in the wire receiving opening.
