Claims
- 1. A method of producing an electrochromic contrast ratio greater than 1.2 by applying an electrochemical potential to particulate doped tin oxide in contact with mobile ions, thereby electrochromically activating said doped tin oxide particles, wherein said activated doped tin oxide electrochromically exhibits a contrast ratio greater than 1.2.
- 2. A method of generating an elcctrochromic reflectance having a linear relationship with an applied voltage comprising coating an electrode with an electrically conductive particulate electrochromic doped metal oxide having a surface area of at least 10 m.sup.2 /g , and activating said electrochromic doped metal oxide to exhibit a contrast ratio greater than 1.2.
- 3. The method of claim 2 wherein the electrochromic doped metal oxide has distinctly different colors in its oxidized and reduced forms.
- 4. A method for producing a change in electrochromic reflectance of an electrochromic device to which a voltage is applied comprising changing the applied voltage wherein the change in reflectance is a linear function of the applied voltage, said device comprising electrochromically activated particulate doped metal oxide, wherein said activated doped metal oxide electrochromically exhibits a contrast ratio greater than 1 2.
