Claims
- 1. An electromagnetic induction suspension and stabilization system for a vehicle having a plurality of magnets, said suspension and stabilization system comprising:
- a substantially planar vehicle guideway having first and second sides;
- vertical lift and stability means for providing vertical lift, pitch and roll stability to the vehicle on said substantially planar guideway, said vertical lift and stability means comprising first and second passive magnetic induction coils, said induction coils mounted within the first and second sides of said substantially planar guideway, respectively; and
- wherein said first and second passive magnetic induction coils are electrically coupled to external inductances and are physically separate and discrete with respect to each other.
- 2. The electromagnetic induction suspension and stabilization system of claim 1, further comprising lateral stability means for providing lateral stabilization and centering of the vehicle with respect to said substantially planar guideway.
- 3. An electromagnetic induction suspension and stabilization system for a vehicle having a plurality of magnets, said guideway and vehicle adapted for horizontal switching between a mainline guideway means for providing lift and stability and a secondary guideway means for providing lift and stability, said suspension and stabilization system comprising:
- a substantially planar vehicle guideway having first and second sides;
- a mainline guideway means for providing lift and stability, said mainline guideway means including mainline vertical lift and stability means for providing vertical lift, pitch and roll stability to the vehicle on the mainline guideway, said mainline vertical lift and stability means comprising first and second passive magnetic induction coils, said induction coils mounted within the first and second sides of said substantially planar guideway, respectively, wherein said first and second passive magnetic induction coils are electrically coupled to external inductances and are physically separate and discrete with respect to each other;
- secondary guideway means for providing lift and stability;
- horizontal switching means for switching the path of the vehicle between said mainline guideway means and said secondary guideway means; and
- mainline lateral stability means for providing lateral stabilization and centering of the vehicle with respect to said mainline guideway.
- 4. The electromagnetic induction suspension and stabilization system of claim 3, further comprising control means for controlling said horizontal switching means, and said secondary guideway means further comprising:
- secondary vertical lift and stability means for providing vertical lift, pitch and roll stability to the vehicle on the secondary guideway; and
- secondary lateral stability means for providing lateral stabilization and centering of the vehicle with respect to said secondary guideway.
- 5. The electromagnetic induction suspension and stability system of claim 3, wherein said mainline lateral stability means comprises:
- a plurality of first and second passive magnetic induction lateral stability coils mounted on the first and second sides of said substantially planar guideway, respectively, and arranged such that when the vehicle magnets are in proximity to said first and second lateral stability coils and are not spaced laterally equidistant from the first and second lateral stability coils on the first and second sides of the substantially planar guideway, a lateral restoring force of the vehicle magnets forces the vehicle magnets to center themselves equidistant from said first and second lateral stability coils.
- 6. The electromagnetic induction suspension and stabilization system of claim 5, wherein said first and second lateral stability coils each comprise:
- a figure 8 null flux loop circuit consisting of two tandem loops, loop A and loop B, where loop A and loop B are wound in opposite directions, horizontally configured in a common plane and bisected by the first and second magnetically induced path of the vehicle magnets along said substantially planar guideway;
- wherein said first and second lateral stability coils are laterally centered on said vertical lift and stability means, and;
- wherein said first and second lateral stability coils comprise wire.
- 7. The electromagnetic induction suspension and stabilization system of claim 3, wherein said mainline guideway means may be switched on or off to comprise:
- an open condition whereby said mainline guideway means provide substantially reduced suspension and stabilization for the vehicle; or
- a closed condition whereby said mainline guideway means provide suspension and stabilization for the vehicle.
- 8. The electromagnetic induction suspension and stabilization system of claim 7 wherein said mainline vertical lift and stability means and said mainline lateral stability means are switched in a closed configuration such that when the vehicle superconducting magnets are in proximity to said mainline vertical lift and stability means and said mainline lateral stability means, and are not spaced laterally equidistant, a vertical and lateral restoring force of the vehicle superconducting magnets forces the vehicle superconducting magnets to center themselves equidistant from said first and second passive magnetic induction lateral stability coils over the mainline guideway means.
- 9. The electromagnetic induction suspension and stabilization system of claim 4, wherein said secondary vertical lift and stability means comprises means similar to said mainline vertical lift and stability means.
- 10. The electromagnetic induction suspension and stabilization system of claim 4, wherein said secondary vertical lift and stability means comprises a series of closely spaced vertical lift and stability loops.
- 11. The electromagnetic induction suspension and stabilization system of claim 4, wherein said secondary lateral stability means comprises first and second passive magnetic induction lateral stability coils mounted on first and second sides of said substantially planar guideway, respectively, defining the secondary path of the vehicle.
- 12. The electromagnetic induction suspension and stabilization system of claim 11 wherein the first and second passive magnetic induction lateral stability coils comprise:
- a figure 8 null flux loop circuit consisting of two tandem loops, loop A and loop B, where loop A and loop B are wound with wire in opposite directions, horizontally configured in a common plane and bisected by the secondary guideway means, and;
- wherein said first and second passive magnetic induction lateral stability coils are laterally centered on the secondary vertical lift and stability means.
- 13. The electromagnetic induction suspension and stabilization system of claim 4, wherein said secondary vertical lift and stability means and said secondary lateral stability means further comprise a switching means whereby the secondary guideway means may be switched on or off to comprise:
- an open condition whereby said secondary guideway means provide substantially reduced suspension and stabilization for the vehicle, and;
- a closed condition whereby said secondary guideway means provide suspension and stabilization for the vehicle.
- 14. The electromagnetic induction suspension and stabilization system of claim 13, wherein the secondary vertical lift and stability means and said secondary lateral stability means are switched in a closed configuration such that when the vehicle magnets are in proximity to said secondary vertical lift and stability means and said secondary lateral stability means and are not spaced laterally equidistant, a vertical and lateral restoring force of the vehicle magnets forces the vehicle magnets to center themselves equidistant from said first and second passive magnetic induction lateral stability coils over the secondary guideway means.
- 15. The electromagnetic induction suspension and stabilization system of claim 4, wherein said control means for controlling horizontal switching is located in a control center which transmits control signals to electronic activators located on the substantially planar guideway.
- 16. The electromagnetic induction suspension and stabilization system for a vehicle having a plurality of magnets and a substantially planar vehicle guideway, said guideway and vehicle adapted for horizontal switching between a mainline guideway means for providing lift and stability and a secondary guideway means for providing lift and stability, said suspension and stabilization system comprising:
- mainline vertical lift and stability means for providing vertical lift, pitch and roll stability to the vehicle on the mainline guideway, said mainline vertical lift and stability means comprising first and second passive magnetic induction coils, said induction coils mounted within the first and second sides of said substantially planar guideway, respectively, wherein said first and second passive magnetic induction coils are coupled to external inductances and are physically separate and discrete with respect to each other; and
- mainline lateral stability means for providing lateral stabilization and centering of the vehicle with respect to said mainline guideway, said mainline lateral stability means including a plurality of first and second passive magnetic induction lateral stability wire coils mounted on the first and second sides of said substantially planar guideway, respectively, and arranged such that when the vehicle magnets are in proximity to said first and second lateral stability coils and are not spaced laterally equidistant from the first and second lateral stability coils on the first and second sides of the substantially planar guideway, a lateral restoring force of the vehicle magnets forces the vehicle magnets to center themselves equidistant from said first and second lateral stability coils, said first and second lateral stability coils each comprising a figure 8 null flux loop circuit consisting of two tandem loops, loop A and loop B, where loop A and loop B are wound in opposite directions, horizontally configured in a common plane and bisected by the first and second magnetically induced path of the vehicle magnets along said substantially planar guideway, said first and second lateral stability coils being laterally centered on said vertical lift and stability means.
- 17. An electromagnetic induction suspension and stabilization system for a vehicle having a plurality of magnets and a substantially planar vehicle guideway, said guideway and vehicle adapted for horizontal switching between a mainline guideway means for providing lift and stability and a secondary guideway means for providing lift and stability, said suspension and stabilization system comprising:
- mainline guideway means for providing lift and stability, said mainline guideway means including mainline vertical lift and stability means for providing vertical lift, pitch and roll stability to the vehicle on the mainline guideway means, said mainline vertical lift and stability means comprising first and second passive magnetic induction coils, said second induction coils mounted within the first and second sides of said substantially planar guideway, respectively, wherein said first and second passive magnetic induction coils are coupled to external inductances and are physically separate and discrete with respect to each other;
- secondary guideway means for providing lift and stability, said secondary guideway means including secondary vertical lift and stability means for providing vertical lift, pitch and roll stability to the vehicle on the secondary guideway means;
- mainline lateral stability means for providing lateral stabilization and centering of the vehicle with respect to said mainline guideway means;
- secondary lateral stability means for providing lateral stabilization and centering of the vehicle with respect to said secondary guideway means, said secondary lateral stability means comprising first and second passive magnetic induction lateral stability coils mounted on first and second sides of the substantially planar guideway, respectively, defining the secondary path of the vehicle, the first and second passive magnetic induction lateral stability coils comprising a figure 8 null flux loop circuit consisting of two tandem loops, loop A and loop B, where loop A and loop B are wound with wire in opposite directions, horizontally configured in a common plane and bisected by the secondary guideway means, said first and second passive magnetic induction lateral stability coils being laterally centered on the secondary vertical lift and stability means;
- horizontal switching means for switching the path of the vehicle between said mainline guideway means and said secondary guideway means; and
- control means for controlling said horizontal switching means.
