Claims
- 1. In an injection system for an internal combustion engine having a plurality of cylinders, a plurality of electromagnetically activated injector pumps each cylinder being supplied by one of said pumps, pulse generator means having a plurality of output conductors each pump being associated with one of said output conductors and said pulse generating means having an equal plurality of input conductors, energizing means connected to said input conductors for activating said pumps through said output conductors in a predetermined sequence and at a frequency related to the rotational speed of said engine; and supplemental means activating said pumps through said output conductors for selectively reordering said sequence and doubling said frequency.
- 2. In a injection system as defined in claim 1 wherein said energizing means comprises a plurality of inductive main pick-up members, one connected to each input conductor, disposed in spaced relationship along a circular path and a magnetic element rotatably driven by the engine to sweep successively past said main pick-up members, said supplemental means including further pick-up members disposed along said path and means for selectively enabling said further pick-up members.
- 3. In an injection system as defined in claim 2 wherein one of said further pick-up members is connected to two different input conductors.
- 4. In an injection system as defined in claim 2 or 3 wherein there is one less further pick-up member than there are main pick-up members.
- 5. In an injection system as defined in claim 4 wherein said means for selectively enabling said further pick-up members comprises a switch actuated while the engine is being cranked.
