Claims
- 1. An electronic timepiece comprising:
- a frequency standard for providing a relatively high frequency signal;
- a frequency converter responsive to said relatively high frequency signal for providing a relatively low frequency time unit signal, timing signals, and a plurality of word pulses indicative of data words representing time data concerning current time and additional data concerning at least a single alarm time;
- timekeeping register means for storing said time data and said additional data;
- means for periodically updating said current time data in response to said time unit signal;
- data altering means for altering the data contents of said timekeeping register means
- display means responsive to an output of said timekeeping register means and including a plurality of display elements operable to display said current time data and at least a portion of said additional data;
- means for generating an alarm data erasing signal, said data altering means being responsive to said alarm data erasing signal for automatically erasing at least a part of said additional data in said timekeeping register; and
- erasure prevention means for preventing an erasing signal from being generated by said alarm data erasing signal generating means.
- 2. An electronic timepiece according to claim 1, in which said erasure prevention means is controlled in accordance with a portion of said additional data.
- 3. An electronic timepiece according to claim 1, in which said time piece is operable in a temporary alarm mode, in which said alarm time data is erased after coincidence between said alarm time and said current time has been detected, and in a daily alarm mode in which said alarm time data is preserved after coincidence between said alarm time and said current time has been detected, said temporary alarm mode being maintained when automatic alarm time data erasure is designated by said additional data and said daily alarm mode being maintained when automatic alarm time data erasure is not designated by said additional data.
- 4. An electronic timepiece according to claim 3, in which said display means further includes a daily alarm mode display symbol for indicating said daily alarm mode and a temporary alarm display symbol for indicating said temporary alarm mode.
- 5. An electronic timepiece according to claim 3, in which said portion of the additional data controlling the erasure thereof comprises data indicating a daily alarm time.
- 6. An electronic timepiece according to claim 5, in which said alarm data erasing signal generating means includes gate means.
- 7. An electronic timepiece according to claim 6, in which said alarm data erasing signal generating means further includes detection means responsive to selected ones of said timing signals and to an output from said timekeeping register means for detecting said daily alarm time indication portion of said additional data, for thereby inhibiting the erasure of said additional data.
- 8. An electronic timepiece according to claim 7, in which said detection means is responsive to said detection of said daily alarm time indicating portion of said additional data for producing an output signal, and in which said gate means is responsive to said output signal for inhibiting said alarm data erasing signal.
- 9. An electronic timepiece according to claim 6, and further comprising externally actuated means for generating an input signal, said gate means being responsive to said input signal for inhibiting said alarm data erasing signal.
- 10. An electronic timepiece comprising:
- a frequency standard for providing a relatively high frequency timebase signal;
- a frequency converter responsive to said relatively high frequency signal for providing a relatively low frequency time unit signal, timing signals, and a plurality of word pulses indicative of a plurality of data words representing time data concerning current time and additional data concerning at least a single alarm time;
- timekeeping register means for storing said time data and said additional data, comprising shift register means coupled to form a single shift register ring through which said time data and said additional data are circulated in response to said timing signals;
- means for generating a carry signal in dependence on said time data;
- means for altering the data contents of said timekeeping register means, said altering means being responsive to said time unit signal and said carry signal for periodically updating said time data, and further being operable to write said additional data into said timekeeping register means;
- an alarm unit coupled to an output of a first shift register stage and to an output of a second shift register stage respectively of said timekeeping register, and responsive to said timing signals for receiving said time data from said first shift register stage output and for receiving said additional data from said second shift register stage output in time serial form during a periodically repeated predetermined time interval, and for detecting coincidence between said current time and said alarm time and generating a coincidence signal indicative thereof, and further for generating an alarm signal in response to said coincidence signal; and
- display means responsive to an output of said timekeeping register means and including a plurality of display elements operable to display said time data and said additional data.
- 11. An electronic timepiece according to claim 10, and further comprising means for generating an alarm warning indication in response to said alarm signal.
- 12. An electronic timepiece according to claim 11, in which said alarm warning indication means comprises an audible alarm device.
- 13. An electronic timepiece according to claim 12, in which said audible alarm device comprises a piezo-electric type buzzer.
- 14. An electronic timepiece according to claim 11 in which said alarm warning device comprises a visual alarm device.
- 15. An electronic timepiece according to claim 14 in which said visual alarm device comprises means for generating a display flashing signal, and further comprising means for causing said plurality of display elements to flash on and off in response to said display flashing signal.
- 16. An electronic timepiece according to claim 10, and further comprising means for inhibiting the generation of said alarm signal.
- 17. An electronic timepiece according to claim 16, in which said alarm signal inhibiting means includes a timer arranged to automatically inhibit generation of said alarm signal after a predetermined time interval following initiation of said alarm signal.
- 18. An electronic timepiece according to claim 16, in which said alarm signal inhibiting means includes an external control member coupled to switch means electrically connected to said alarm signal generating means and operable to stop the operation thereof.
- 19. An electronic timepiece according to claim 10, in which said additional data further includes a date alarm time data comprising a date portion and an alarm time portion, said alarm time portion including at least hours information, and in which said date alarm time data further comprises a connecting portion associated with said alarm time portion for designating said alarm time portion as being part of a date alarm time, and wherein said timepiece further comprises date coincidence detection means for detecting coincidence between date data contained in said current time data circulating in said timekeeping register and said date portion of said date alarm time data and for producing an output signal indicative of said date coincidence, and moreover comprising means for erasing said connecting portion of said date alarm time data in response to said date coincidence detection output signal, said alarm unit being responsive to said connecting portion of said date alarm data for inhibiting detection of coincidence between said current time and said alarm time portion of the date alarm date and performing detection of coincidence detection between said current time and said alarm time portion of the date alarm data in the absence of said connecting portion of the date alarm data, whereby generation of an alarm signal by said alarm unit in response to said date alarm data will be performed only during a day whose date is designated by said date portion of said alarm time data.
- 20. An electronic timepiece according to claim 10, and further comprising storage means for storing data relating to a plurality of alarm times.
- 21. An electronic timepiece according to claim 20, in which said storage means comprises shift register means coupled to form a shift register ring, and means for circulating the contents thereof in synchronism with ciuculation of the contents of said timekeeping register means.
- 22. An electronic timepiece according to claim 21, and further comprising means for interrupting ciuculation of the contents of said plural alarm times storage means for a predetermined duration, for thereby shifting said contents in relation to the contents of said timekeeping register.
- 23. An electronic timepiece according to claim 22, and further comprising transfer means for transferring data relating to a selected one of said alarm times in said plural alarm times storage means to replace said alarm time data in said timekeeping register means, and for transferring said latter-mentioned alarm time data to a location in said plural alarm times storage means previously containing said selected alarm time data.
- 24. An electronic timepiece according to claim 23, in which said interruptions of circulation of said contents of the plural alarm times storage means is performed periodically whereby the interval between successive shifts of the contents of said plural alarm times storage means corresponds to an integral number of complete circulations of the contents of said timekeeping register means.
