Claims
- 1. An electronic apparatus system
- comprising:
- a card-like electronic part having a terminal;
- an electronic apparatus unit having a card insertion position into which said card-like electronic part is accessibly inserted;
- wherein said electronic apparatus unit includes a bottom surface and a side surface continuous to said bottom surface, wherein said side surface has an inlet into which said card-like electronic part is detachably inserted with the terminal first and said bottom surface has an opening corresponding to the card insertion position of said card-like electronic part, and wherein a first connector to which said terminal of the card-like electronic part is detachably connected is arranged in said opening;
- an expansion unit containing an expansion device for expanding the function of said electronic apparatus unit, said expansion unit having a main body with a mounting surface on which the bottom surface of said electronic apparatus unit is removably overlaid, and a slider provided on said main body to be movable in an insertion direction of said card-like electronic part, said slider having an upper surface to be flush with the mounting surface, said upper surface facing the inlet of the electronic apparatus unit and the opening when the electronic apparatus unit is overlaid on the mounting surface; and
- a second connector provided in said slider, wherein said second connector enters the opening when said card-like electronic part is separated from said card insertion position, and said second connector is connected to the first connector by the movement of said slider, thereby electrically connecting the expansion device to the electronic apparatus unit.
- 2. The system according to claim 1, wherein said electronic apparatus unit comprises a tray which is allowed to be inserted into said electronic apparatus unit when said second connector is out of said electronic apparatus unit, wherein said tray has a bottom wall, which covers the opening and contains a holding wall holding the card-like electronic part, and an end wall, which is continuous to the bottom wall and covers the inlet, and said card-like electronic part is inserted into the electronic apparatus unit from the inlet in an insertion direction with the card-like electronic part being supported by the tray.
- 3. The system according to claim 2, wherein said bottom wall comprises a pair of edge portions extending along the insertion direction of the card-like electro nic part, and said opening comprises a pair of slide rails slidably contacting the edge portions and guiding the insertion direction of the tray.
- 4. The system according to claim 3, wherein the mounting surface of the expansion unit has substantially the same shape and size as the bottom surface of the electronic apparatus unit.
- 5. The system according to claim 4, wherein said expansion unit has a side surface continuous to the side surface of the electronic apparatus unit, said mounting surface has an attaching recess to which said slider is attached, said attaching recess is opened in the side surface of the expansion unit and has a bottom surface on which the slider is mounted and a side surface continuous to the bottom surface and said mounting surface in series, and the slider has an upper surface forming a part of the mounting surface when the slider is attached to the attaching recess.
- 6. The system according to claim 5, wherein said mounting surface has a concave portion continuous to the side surface of the attaching recess, the concave portion opposite to the opening of the electronic apparatus unit, and has a cable insertion hole continuous to the expansion unit and a pair of edges having a guide groove extending in a moving direction of the slider.
- 7. The system according to claim 6, wherein said slider has a terminal holder projected onto the mounting surface, the terminal holder enters the inlet and the opening when the card-like electronic part and the tray are removed from said electronic apparatus unit, wherein the terminal holder has an end portion opposite to the first connector in the opening, and a terminal base having the second connector is attached to the end portion.
- 8. The system according to claim 7, wherein said terminal holder comprises a first guide portion, which is slidably guided to the slide rails, and a second guide portion, which is slidably guided to the guide groove.
- 9. The system according to claim 7, wherein said terminal base is held in said terminal holder in a floating state to be changeable in upper and lower direction.
- 10. The system according to claim 7, wherein said terminal holder has a through hole continuous to the cable insertion hole of the mounting surface, and a cable for electrically connecting the second connector to the expansion device is inserted through the through hole and the cable insertion hole.
- 11. The system according to claim 2, wherein said bottom wall of said tray is continuous to the bottom surface of the electronic apparatus unit to be flush therewith and forms a part of the bottom surface, and the end wall of the tray is continuous to the side surface of the electronic apparatus unit to be flush therewith, and forms a part of the side surface.
- 12. The system according to claim 2, wherein said electronic apparatus unit comprises a printed circuit board having the first connector held on its lower surface, a case containing the printed circuit board, said case having a bottom inner surface opposite to the first connector, and a space is provided between the bottom inner surface and the first connector.
- 13. The system according to claim 12, wherein said electronic apparatus unit further comprises a pushing mechanism having a slide plate which is located on the bottom inner surface of the case such that the slide plate is linearly slidable, in the insertion direction of the tray, between a first position where the slide plate is in contact with the tray to project the tray from the inlet and a second position where the slide plate is separated from the tray to permit the tray to be inserted into said electronic apparatus unit, a rotation plate having one end rotatably supported to the bottom inner surface by a shaft, and another end with an operation member, for sliding the slide plate, and a spring member for holding said slide plate at a neutral position where the slide plate is separated from the tray.
- 14. The system according to claim 13, wherein said pushing mechanism is arranged in the space between the first connector and the bottom inner surface of the case.
- 15. The system according to claim 13, wherein said slide plate has an upper surface on which the rotation plate is overlaid, and an engaging portion engaging with the rotation plate and interlocking the slide plate with the rotation plate, and said spring member has a coil portion around said shaft, and a leg portion, which is extended from the end portion of the coil portion and hooked to the engaging portion.
- 16. The system according to claim 1, wherein said expansion unit further comprises a fixing mechanism for fixing the electronic apparatus unit to a fixed position on the mounting surface, said fixing mechanism has a pair of first fixing claws provided in the main body and a pair of second fixing claws provided in the slider, and these first and second fixing claws are opposite to each other on the mounting surface, and detachably engaged with the side surface of the electronic apparatus unit.
- 17. The system according to claim 16, wherein the side surface of the electronic apparatus unit comprises a plurality of positioning holes with which the first and second fixing claws are detachably engaged.
- 18. The system according to claim 16, wherein said claws are formed of conductive metal.
- 19. The system according to claim 18, wherein said electronic apparatus unit comprises an inner surface having a first shield layer, said expansion unit comprises an inner surface having a second shield layer, said plurality of positioning holes have a plurality of conductive spring pieces electrically connected to the second shield layer, the spring pieces coming in contact with the fixing claws when the first and second fixing claws are engaged with the positioning holes, and the first and second shield layers are electrically connected to each other.
- 20. The system according to claim 1, wherein said electronic apparatus unit comprises a base unit having an input device in its upper surface, and a display unit having a flat panel display rotatably coupled to the base unit, said display unit can be rotated between a closed position where the input device is covered an open position where the input device can be operated.
