- said output means further includes means for generating an operator perceivable indication of said data processing function stored in said data processing function memory means.
- 5. An electronic data processing apparatus as claimed in claim 4, wherein:
- said output means comprises a visual display means, said indication of said first exponential command comprises an upwardly pointing arrow and said indication of said second exponentiation command comprises a downwardly pointing arrow.
- 6. An electronic data processing apparatus as claimed in claim 4, wherein:
- said output means comprises a multiline visual display means and said output means further includes means for displaying entered data and operational commands between corresponding first and second exponentiation commands on the line of said multiline visual display immediately above the previously used line.
- 7. An electronic data processing apparatus comprising:
- an input means for entering data processing functions including numeric data, consisting of a plurality of single digit data corresponding to single digit numbers, a decimal point and a sign control, and a plurality of operational commands corresponding to data processing operations, said operational commands including at least an integral power exponentiation command for exponentiation by a single digit integral power;
- an arithmetic means connected to said input means for performing entered data processing functions and generating a numeric result, said arithmetic means including means for evaluating an entered integral power exponentiation command by raising numeric data entered prior to entry of said integral power exponentiation command by a power equal to a single digit number upon entry of corresponding single digit data and by entering an error state if said integral power exponentiation command is not followed by single digit data; and
- an output means for generating an operator perceivable indication of said numeric result generated by said arithmetic means.
- 8. An electronic data processing apparatus as claimed in claim 7, wherein:
- said arithmetic means further includes means for generating the result of one when the single digit data following said integral power exponentiation command corresponds to zero.
- 9. An electronic data processing apparatus as claimed in claim 7, wherein:
- said output means comprises a visual display means, said output means further including means for generating a visual indication of entered operational commands, and said visual indication of said integral power exponentiation command comprises a superscript of the single digit number corresponding to said single digit data following said integral power exponentiation command.
