FIG. 1 is a diagram illustrating an electronic system according to an embodiment.

An electronic system 1000 includes an electronic device 100 and a plurality of display devices 200 forming a video wall.

According to an embodiment, the electronic device 100 is a device that obtains layout information, or the like, of a video wall from a photographed image of the video wall including the plurality of display device 200, and may be implemented as a device including, for example, and without limitation, a camera that may photograph the video wall including the plurality of display devices 200. For example, the electronic device 100 may be implemented as various electronic devices including, for example, and without limitation, a smartphone, a tablet PC, a mobile phone, a desktop PC, a laptop PC, a netbook computer, a PDA, a portable multimedia player(PMP), a MP3 player, a camera, a wearable device, or the like. According to another embodiment, the electronic device 100 may be implemented as a device receiving a photographed image of the video wall from an external camera and obtaining layout information of the video wall from the received image.

The plurality of display devices 200 form a video wall. The video wall is a system that recognizes the plurality of display devices as one screen, and may divide an image into a plurality of images, enlarge and display the divided images to display on the screen.

For example, as illustrated in FIG. 1, the plurality of display devices (200-1 to 200-4) are arranged in the form of 2 by 2 (2×2). That is, the plurality of display devices are arranged such that there are two display devices horizontally and two display devices vertically. This is merely an example for convenience of description, and a total number and an arrangement of display devices forming the video wall may be variously changed.

In order to control the video wall including the plurality of display devices 200, obtaining layout information of arranged plurality display devices 200 and identification information of the plurality of display devices 200 is required. Hereinafter, various embodiments will be described in detail with reference to figures of the present disclosure.

FIG. 2 is a block diagram illustrating an operation of an electronic device according to an embodiment.

Referring to FIG. 2A, the electronic device 100 includes a storage 110 and a processor 120.

The storage 110 stores various data necessary for operating the electronic device 100.

The storage 110 may be implemented as an internal memory such as a ROM (e.g., electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM)), a RAM, or the like, included in the processor 120, or may be implemented as a separate memory from the processor 120. In this case, the storage 110 may be implemented in a form of a memory embedded in the electronic device 100 or a detachable memory from the electronic device 100 depending on a purpose of data storage. Meanwhile, the memory embedded in the electronic device 100 may be implemented in a form of a non-volatile memory, a volatile memory, a hard disk drive (HDD), a solid state drive (SSD), or the like.

For example, the storage 110 may store mapping information in which identification information and an identification image of the plurality of display devices 200 are mapped. The identification information may include information of a product name, a model name, a Mac Address, and the like of each of the plurality of display devices 200. In addition, the identification image may be an image displayed in one area of the display devices 200 as an image representing an ID of the display devices 200. For example, the identification image may include at least one of a QR code, a corner symbol, a border symbol, or a bar code, and this will be described in detail below.

The storage 110 may also store information of a screen shape, a screen size, and a bezel size of the display devices 200. In addition, the storage 110 may store a photographed image of the display devices 200.

The storage 110 may receive mapping information where identification information and identification image of the plurality of display devices 200 are mapped from the plurality of display devices 200 and store the mapping information, or may receive the mapping information from an external server (not shown), and store the same.

The processor 120 controls overall operations of the electronic devices 100.

According to an embodiment, the processor 120 may be implemented as a distal signal processor (DSP) which processes a digital signal, a microprocessor, or a time controller (TCON), but this is not limited thereto. The processor 120 may include, for example, and without limitation, one or more of a central processing unit (CPU), a micro controller unit (MCU), a micro processing unit (MPU), a controller, an application processor (AP), or a communication processor (CP), an advanced reduced machine (ARM) processor, or the like, or may be defined as a corresponding term. Also, the processor 120 may be implemented as a system on chip (SoC) or a large scale integration (LSI) with a processing algorithm therein, or as in a form of a field programmable gate array (FPGA). The processor 120 may perform various functions by executing computer executable instructions stored in the storage 110.

According to an embodiment, the processor 120 may obtain a photographed image of a video wall including the plurality of display devices 200 displaying an identification image. The video wall may be a system that recognizes the plurality of display devices 200 as one screen. The video wall may divide an image into a plurality of images, enlarge and display the divided plurality of images to display. The processor 120 may obtain the photographed image of the video wall through a camera (not shown) included in the electronic device 100, or may obtain the photographed image by receiving it from the video wall, or from an external camera (not shown).

The identification image displayed by each of the plurality of display devices 200 is an image representing an ID of the display device 200, and may be an image displayed in one area of each of the plurality of display devices 200. For example, the identification image may include at least one of a QR code, a corner symbol, a border symbol, or a bar code, and this will be described in FIG. 3.

FIG. 3 is a diagram illustrating an identification image according to an embodiment.

Each of the plurality of display devices 200 may display an identification image based on a predetermined event. The predetermined event may be at least one of an event that the plurality of display devices 200 enter into an identification image display mode, an event that the plurality of display devices 200 are connected to an external server, an event that a predetermined button of the electronic device 100 is pressed and operated, or an event that a power of the plurality of display devices 200 is turned on. When the predetermined event occurs, the plurality of display devices 200 may display the identification image in one area of each screen for a predetermined time.

FIG. 3A is a diagram illustrating a case in which an identification image is implemented as a QR code.

As shown in FIG. 3A, each of the plurality of display devices 200 may display QR codes which are different from each other in one area of a screen based on a predetermined event. The QR code refers to a plaid code that may include various data.

The processor 120 may obtain a QR code corresponding to each of the plurality of display devices 200 from a photographed image, and may obtain identification information of each of the plurality of display devices based on the obtained QR code. For example, the processor 120 may obtain a product name, a model name, a Mac address of each of the plurality of display devices 200 based on the obtained QR code. Also, the processor 120 may obtain information including a screen shape, a screen size, and a bezel size of the plurality of display devices based on the obtained QR code. Also, the processor 120 may identify whether the plurality of display devices 200 are in a regular arrangement state or an irregular arrangement state based on the obtained QR code. The regular arrangement may be a display configuration having a rectangular shape of a predetermined aspect ratio (e.g., 2×2, 3×1 and 3×2), and the irregular arrangement may not be a rectangular shape, but may be a display configuration configured arbitrarily by a user, or a display configuration that the plurality of display devices 200 are superimposed.

FIG. 3B is a diagram illustrating a case that an identification image is implemented as a corner symbol.

The corner symbol, as shown in FIG. 3B, may be a symbol displayed in a corner area of each of the plurality of display devices 200. That is, the corner symbol may be a predetermined image displayed in the corner area of a screen of the display devices. For example, in case of a rectangular display device, a corner symbol may be displayed on four corner areas.

The corner symbol may be distinguished based on at least one of size, shape or arrangement location. That is, the corner symbol may be mapped to display devices which are different from each other based on at least one of size, shape or arrangement location. A shape of the corner symbol may be implemented in various shapes such as a crook shape, a straight line shape, a triangle shape, a square shape, or the like. For example, a crook-shaped corner symbol may refer to a display device having a model name of Q1, and a triangle-shaped corner symbol may refer to a display device having a model name of Q2. The corner symbol may be distinguished based on its length or size, even if it is a symbol having the same shape. For example, a model name of Q3 may be referred to as a display device having corner symbols of upper left and upper right are 10 cm in width and 5 cm in length as a straight line, and corner symbols of lower left and lower right are 5 cm in width and 10 cm in length. A model name Q4 may be referred to as a display device having corner symbols of upper left and upper right are 10 cm in width and 5 cm in length, and corner symbols of lower left and lower right are 5 cm in width and 10 cm in length. As such, a predetermined identification image may be mapped to represent a specific display device.

The processor 120 may identify whether the plurality of display devices 200 are in a regular arrangement state or an irregular arrangement state based on an identification image obtained from a photographed image. For example, if four corner symbols are not identified in one rectangular display device, the processor 120 may identify one area of the display device is superimposed on the other display device, and may identify the plurality of display devices 200 as the irregular arrangement state. The processor 120 may identify the plurality of display devices 200 as the regular arrangement state if all of the four corner symbols are identified and if a screen configuration having a rectangular shape with a predetermined aspect ratio (e.g., 2×2, 3×1, 3×2) is identified.

FIG. 3C is a diagram illustrating a case that an identification image is implemented with a border symbol.

The border symbol, as described in FIG. 3C may be a symbol displayed in a border area of each of the plurality of display devices 200. That is, the border symbol may be a predetermined image displayed in the border area of a screen of the display device. For example, in a case of a rectangular shape of a display device, the border symbol of the rectangular shape may be displayed.

The border symbol may be distinguished based on at least one of size, shape, or arrangement location of a display device. That is, the border symbol may be mapped to display devices which are different from each other based on at least one of size, shape, or arrangement location. For example, the border symbol may be distinguished according to a size (thickness) of symbols.

A shape of the border symbol may be determined based on a shape of a display device. Since the display device is generally implemented with a rectangular shape, the border symbol may be implemented with a rectangular shape. However, even if the display device is implemented with the rectangular shape, the border symbol may be implemented with various shapes such as a circular shape.

The processor 120 may identify whether the plurality of display devices 200 are in a regular arrangement state or an irregular arrangement state based on the border symbol obtained from a photographed image. For example, when a disconnected border symbol is identified on one rectangular display device, the processor 120 may identify one area of one display device is superimposed on another display device, and may identify the plurality of display devices 200 as the irregular arrangement state. The processor 120 may identify the plurality of display device 200 as the regular arrangement state if a border symbol without disconnection and if a screen configuration having a rectangular shape with a predetermined aspect ratio (e.g., 2×2, 3×1, 3×2) is identified.

FIG. 3 describes a QR code, a corner symbol and a border symbol as an example of an identification image, but this is not limited thereto. An image representing an ID of the display devices, such as a barcode, may be implemented as various shapes.

Referring to FIG. 2, the processor 120 may obtain layout information of the video wall from a photographed image.

The layout information may include the number and arrangement information of the display devices 200. The arrangement information may include a regular arrangement and an irregular arrangement. The regular arrangement may be a screen configuration having a rectangular shape with a predetermined aspect ratio (e.g., 2×2, 3×1, 3×2), and the irregular arrangement may not be a rectangular shape but be a screen configuration configured arbitrarily by a user, or a screen configuration in which the plurality of display devices 200 are superimposed.

For example, the processor 120 may obtain layout information of the video wall from a photographed image through an image recognition technique. For example, the processor 120 may explore an entire area of the photographed image through a window sliding technique and obtain the layout information of the video wall. For instance, the processor 120 may divide the entire area of the photographed image into n*m blocks. The processor 120 may scan each block using a window with a predetermined size to obtain a feature value of each block. The processor 120 may compare the obtained feature value of each block to obtain layout information including the number, arrangement information, and the like, of the display devices 200. For example, the processor 120 may obtain layout information in which the number of the plurality of display devices 200 are four and the devices are in a regular arrangement of 2 by 2 2 (2×2). The window sliding technique may be an example of the image recognition technique, and use various embodiments that obtain layout information of the video wall using an artificial neural network.

The processor 120 may obtain an identification image corresponding to each of the plurality of display devices 200 and obtain identification information of each of the plurality of display devices 200 based on mapping information and the identification image.

For example, when the identification image is implemented as a QR code, the processor 120 may obtain identification information based on the identification image through a QR code reader. When the identification image is implemented as a corner symbol, the processor 120 may obtain the identification image based on at least one information of size, shape, and display position of the corner symbol, and then the processor 120 may obtain the identification information of each of the plurality of display devices 200 by comparing mapping information to which the identification image is mapped and information of the obtained identification image. The identification information may include a product name, a model name, and a Mac address of each of the plurality of display devices.

For example, it is assumed that an identification image having a feature that an upper left and upper right corner symbols are 10 cm in width and 5 cm in length, and a lower left and lower right corner symbols are 5 cm in width and 10 cm in length, is mapped to a display device having a model name of Q1. Such mapping information may be stored in the storage 110.

When an identification image obtained from a photographed image has a corner symbol in which an upper left and upper right symbols are 10 cm in width and 5 cm in length, and a lower left and lower right symbols are 5 cm in width and 10 cm in length, the processor 120 may identify, based on the mapping information mapped to such identification image, that a corresponding display device is a display device having the model name of Q1.

The processor 120 may obtain arrangement state information of the plurality of display devices 200 included in the video wall based on the obtained identification information and layout information. The arrangement state information may refer to information including layout information and identification information of the plurality of display devices 200. For example, it is assumed that the plurality of display devices 200 are formed as 2 by 2 (2×2). The arrangement state information refers to information including not only layout information that an arrangement of the video wall is formed as 2 by 2 (2×2), but also identification information that an upper left of the display device is a display device having a model name of Q1.

According to an embodiment, the processor 120 may obtain information including a screen shape, a screen size, and a bezel size of a corresponding display devices based on the obtained identification information, and may obtain an arrangement state information of the plurality of display devices based on the obtained information and the layout information.

For example, the processor 120 may receive information including a screen shape, a screen size, and a bezel size of a display device corresponding to an identified model name based on the obtained identification information. When information including a screen shape, a screen size and a bezel size of various display devices is stored in the storage 110, the processor 120 may obtain information including a screen shape, a screen size and a bezel size of a corresponding display device from the storage 110, based on the obtained identification information. The processor 120 may obtain information including a screen shape, a screen size, and a bezel size to obtain accurate arrangement state information of the plurality of display devices 200.

For example, it is assumed that the arrangement state information of the plurality of display devices 200 is obtained from a photographed image. In this case, if the video wall including the plurality of display devices 200 is photographed from the side and not being photographed at the front, a size information of the display device may be in accurate. Accordingly, the processor 120 may obtain accurate arrangement state information of the plurality of display devices 200 based on information including a screen shape, a screen size and a bezel size, and layout information.

The processor 120 may control a display (not shown) to display a UI for setting contents of the video wall based on the arrangement state information of the plurality of display devices 200. The UI for setting contents of the video wall will be described with reference to FIGS. 4 and 5.

FIGS. 4 and 5 are diagrams illustrating a UI for setting contents of a video wall according to an embodiment.

FIG. 4A is a diagram illustrating a plurality of display devices forming a video wall arranged on one side, and FIG. 4B is a diagram illustrating a UI for setting contents of a video wall based on arrangement state information of the plurality of display devices 200 arranged in FIG. 4A.

As illustrated in FIG. 4A, it is assumed the plurality of display devices 200 are regularly arranged in the form of 3 by 2 (3×2).

The processor 120 may obtain identification information based on layout information and an identification image from a photographed image of the plurality of display devices 200, illustrated in FIG. 4A, to obtain arrangement state information of the plurality of display devices 200. Since such process has been described, a detailed description may be omitted.

The processor 120 may display the UI for setting contents of the video wall based on the obtained arrangement state information. For example, the processor 120 may display the UI reflected a regular arrangement of 3×2 as the plurality of display devices arranged on one side. In addition, the processor 120 may display the identification information of the display device on the UI. For example, the processor 120 may display identification information such as a product name, a model name, a Mac address, and the like, on an upper left of the display device UI. For example, as illustrated in FIG. 4B, information that a model name of an upper left of a display device is Q1 may be displayed. Accordingly, a user may easily recognize not only layout information that the display devices are regularly arranged in the form of 3 by 2 (3×2), but also identification information of each of the display devices according to an arrangement state.

The UI for setting contents of the video wall may display a video wall setup window, a source selection window for selecting data source to reflect on the video wall system, and a file explorer for searching a corresponding file. Accordingly, users may select data source they want and reflect it on the video wall system.

FIG. 5 is a diagram illustrating a method of applying a selected data source or file to a video wall setup window according to an embodiment.

FIG. 5A is a diagram illustrating a UI for setting contents of a video wall including a plurality of display devices 200 which are regularly arranged. FIG. 5B is a diagram illustrating a UI for setting contents of a video wall including a plurality of display devices 200 which are irregularly arranged.

When the UI for setting contents of the video wall based on an arrangement state information of the plurality of display devices 200, users may apply a source or file that they want to a UI window for setting contents of the video wall using a drag & drop method.
