The disclosure relates to an electronic device and method for displaying and controlling a home appliance disposed in an indoor space.
The growth of wireless communication technology leads to development of smart device control techniques for controlling indoor devices (e.g., televisions (TVs), air conditioners, refrigerators, air purifiers, smart plugs, or lightings) on the user's portable terminal.
In relation, developed are cloud services for linking built-in Internet of things (IoT) devices, home services, and IoT networks disposed in the indoor space to smart devices through the user's portable terminal and user interfaces related to the cloud services.
The user may easily control various smart devices disposed in the indoor space by controlling the smart devices through the user interface of the portable terminal.
The above information is presented as background information only to assist with an understanding of the disclosure. No determination has been made, and no assertion is made, as to whether any of the above might be applicable as prior art with regard to the disclosure.
Aspects of the disclosure are to address at least the above-mentioned problems and/or disadvantages and to provide at least the advantages described below. Accordingly, an aspect of the disclosure is to provide an electronic device and method for displaying and controlling a home appliance disposed in an indoor space based on input data including three-dimensional (3D) data of the home appliance and the indoor space.
Additional aspects will be set forth in part in the description which follows and, in part, will be apparent from the description, or may be learned by practice of the presented embodiments.
In accordance with an aspect of the disclosure, an electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a display including a display area and at least one processor electrically connected to the display. The at least one processor displays a 3D map including at least one of indoor space status information which includes an environmental status of an indoor space or home appliance status information which includes an operating status of at least one home appliance disposed in the indoor space. The at least one processor controls an operation of the at least one home appliance based on a user input to a predetermined area on the 3D map.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, the at least one processor displays visual information about the at least one home appliance, as a 3D animation, on the 3D map, based on the home appliance status information.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, the visual information about the at least one home appliance includes at least one of a light on/off state, output wind direction, output wind speed, output temperature, door open/close state, or moving state of the at least one home appliance.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, the at least one processor displays at least one subtask of the at least one home appliance for performing a predetermined operation on the 3D map.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, the at least one home appliance includes a first object and a second object performing the at least one subtask for performing the predetermined operation. The predetermined operation includes performing a first subtask by the first object and performing a second subtask associated with the first subtask by the second object.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, the at least one processor sequentially displays, on the 3D map, an image displaying an operation sequence of the first object and the second object, a zoomed-in image of the first object, a pop-up window including a text describing the first subtask, a zoomed-in image of the second object, and a pop-up window including text describing the second subtask.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, the predetermined operation includes moving the at least one home appliance in the indoor space, detecting a target object included in the indoor space by the at least one home appliance, capturing at least one image of the target object by the at least one home appliance, and displaying a target object image captured by the at least one home appliance.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, the at least one processor sequentially displays an image of the at least one home appliance moving in the indoor space, an image of the at least one home appliance detecting a target object included in the indoor space, an image of the at least one home appliance capturing at least one image of the target object, and an image of the at least one home appliance sequentially displaying a captured target object image.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, the at least one processor controls the at least one home appliance performing at least one subtask based on a predetermined operation on the 3D map.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, the predetermined operation includes determining a driving environment of the at least one home appliance and setting at least one of a power setting, position, or operation mode of the at least one home appliance to a pre-stored operation configuration value.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, the at least one processor receives a user input for an operational environment of the at least one home appliance. The at least one processor controls at least one of a power setting, position, or operation mode of the at least one home appliance, based on an operation configuration value corresponding to the operational environment.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, the at least one processor displays, on the 3D map, the indoor space status information and the home appliance status information using at least one of a text, a value, a color, an icon, a graph, or a contour line.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, the indoor space status information includes at least one of an air quality, temperature, humidity, lighting, or noise of the indoor space.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, the at least one processor generates an indoor space status history based on a change in the indoor space status information for a reference or a predetermined period. The at least one processor displays the indoor space status history for a specified time period (e.g., hourly).
In an embodiment of the disclosure, the home appliance status information includes at least one of an operation mode, remaining time, energy usage, temperature, remaining battery, or position of the at least one home appliance.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, the at least one processor detects an operation error in the at least one home appliance based on the home appliance status information. The at least one processor displays the operation error and an action guide.
In accordance with another aspect of the disclosure, a method for displaying and controlling a home appliance is provided. The method includes displaying a 3D map including at least one of indoor space status information which includes an environmental status of an indoor space or home appliance status information which includes an operating status of at least one home appliance disposed in the indoor space and controlling an operation of the at least one home appliance based on a user input to a predetermined area on the 3D map.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, displaying the 3D map displays visual information about the at least one home appliance, as a 3D animation, on the 3D map, based on the home appliance status information.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, displaying the 3D map displays at least one subtask of the at least one home appliance for performing a predetermined operation on the 3D map.
In an embodiment of the disclosure, controlling the at least one home appliance controls the at least one home appliance performing at least one subtask based on a predetermined operation on the 3D map.
According to various embodiments of the disclosure, an electronic device and method of the disclosure display a 3D map includes an indoor space and a home appliance based on input data. Further, the electronic device and method of the disclosure display visual information about the home appliance, as a 3D animation, on the 3D map.
Accordingly, the electronic device and method of the disclosure intuitively display the position and operating status of the home appliance in the indoor space on the 3D map.
Further, according to various embodiments of the disclosure, the electronic device and method of the disclosure sequentially display subtasks of the home appliance based on a predetermined operation. Further, the electronic device and method of the disclosure control the home appliance performing the subtask based on the predetermined operation.
Therefore, the electronic device and method of the disclosure enhance usability and convenience of a home appliance by sequentially displaying and controlling associated operations of the home appliance for performing a predetermined operation.

The home appliance 10 may be at least one of various types of home appliances. For example, as illustrated, the home appliance 10 may include at least one of a refrigerator 11, a dishwasher 12, an electric range 13, an electric oven 14, an air conditioner 15, a steam closet 16, a washing machine 17, a dryer 18, and a microwave oven 19, but is not limited thereto. The home appliance 10 may further include various types of home appliances, such as a robot vacuum, a vacuum cleaner, and a television, which are not illustrated in the drawings. In addition to home appliances mentioned above, a device that can be connected to other home appliance(s), the user device 2, or the server 3 and performs the operations described below, such a device may be included in the home appliance 10 according to an embodiment.
The server 3 may include a communication module capable of communicating with another server, home appliance 10, or the user device 2, at least one processor capable of processing data received from the other server, home appliance 10, or user device 2, and at least one memory capable of storing a program for processing data or processed data. The server 3 may be implemented as various computing devices, such as a workstation, a cloud, a data drive, and a data station. The server 3 may be implemented as one or more servers physically or logically divided based on functions, detailed configurations of functions, data, or the like, and may transmit and receive data and process the transmitted and received data through communication between the servers.
The server 3 may perform functions such as manage the user account, register the home appliance 10 with the user account, and manage or control the registered home appliance 10. For example, the user may access the server 3 through the user device 2 to create a user account. The user account may be identified by an ID and a password set by the user. The server 3 may register the home appliance 10 in the user account according to a predetermined procedure. For example, the server 3 may register, manage, and control the home appliance 10 by verifying/authenticating the identification information (e.g., a serial number or a MAC address) of the home appliance 10 to the user account. The user device 2 may include a communication module capable of communicating with the home appliance 10 or the server 3, a user interface for receiving a user input or outputting information to the user, at least one processor for controlling the operation of the user device 2, and at least one memory for storing a program for controlling the operation of the user device 2.
The user device 2 may be carried by the user or may be disposed in the user's home or office. The user device 2 may include, but is not limited to, a personal computer, a terminal, a mobile phone, a smart phone, a handheld device, or a wearable device.
A program for controlling the home appliance 10, i.e., an application, may be stored in the memory of the user device 2. The application may be pre-installed on the user device 2 or may be downloaded from an external server.
The user may access the server 3 to create a user account by executing the application installed on the user device 2 and may communicate with the server 3 based on the logged-in user account to register the home appliance 10.
For example, when a user programs/manipulates the home appliance 10 to connect to the server 3 by following the instructions provided by the application installed on the user device 2, the identification information (e.g., serial number or MAC address) of the home appliance 10 associated with the user account may be stored in the server 3, thereby allowing the home appliance 10 to be registered to the user account.
The user may control the home appliance 10 using the application installed on the user device 2. For example, when the user logs in to the user account with the application installed on the user device 2, the home appliance 10 registered in the user account is displayed, and when a control command for the home appliance 10 is inputted, the control command may be transferred to the home appliance 10 through the server 3.
The network may include both a wired network and a wireless network. The wired network may include a cable network, a telephone network, and the like, and the wireless network may include all networks that transmit and receive signals through radio waves. The wired network and the wireless network may be connected to each other.
The network may include a wide area network (WAN), such as the Internet, a local area network (LAN) formed around an access point (AP), and a short-range wireless network that does not pass through the AP. The short-range wireless network may include, but is not limited to, Bluetooth™ (IEEE 802.15.1), Zigbee (IEEE 802.15.4), wireless-fidelity (Wi-Fi) direct, near-field communication (NFC), and Z-wave.
The AP may connect the home appliance 10 or the user device 2 to a WAN to which the server 3 is connected. The home appliance 10 or the user device 2 may be connected to the server 3 through a WAN.
The AP may communicate with the home appliance 10 or the user device 2 using wireless communication, such as wi-fi (wi-fi™, IEEE 802.11), Bluetooth (Bluetooth™, IEEE 802.15.1), Zigbee (IEEE 802.15.4), or the like, and may access the WAN using wired communication, but is not limited thereto.
According to various embodiments of the disclosure, the home appliance 10 may be directly connected to the user device 2 or the server 3 without passing through the AP.
The home appliance 10 may be connected to the user device 2 or the server 3 through a long-range wireless network or a short-range wireless network.
For example, the home appliance 10 may be connected to the user device 2 through a short-range wireless network (e.g., wi-fi direct).
As another example, the home appliance 10 may be connected to the user device 2 or the server 3 through a WAN using a long-range wireless network (e.g., a cellular communication module).
As another example, the home appliance 10 may access a WAN using wired communication and may be connected to the user device 2 or the server 3 through the WAN.
When the home appliance 10 is able to access the WAN using wired communication, it may operate as an access repeater. Accordingly, the home appliance 10 may connect another home appliance to the WAN to which the server 3 is connected. Further, the other home appliance may connect the home appliance 10 to the WAN to which the server 3 is connected.
The home appliance 10 may transmit information about the operation or the status to the other home appliance(s), the user device 2, or the server 3 through the network. For example, when the request is received from the server 3, if a specific event occurs in the home appliance 10, periodically, or in real time, the home appliance 10 may transmit information about the operation or the status to the other home appliance(s), the user device 2, or the server 3. When the information about the operation or the status is received from the home appliance 10, the server 3 may update the stored information about the operation or the status of the home appliance 10 and transmit the updated information about the operation and the status of the home appliance 10 to the user device 2 through the network. Here, updating information may include various operations for changing existing information, such as adding new information to the existing information and replacing existing information with new information.
The home appliance 10 may obtain various information from the other home appliance(s), the user device 2, or the server 3 and provide the obtained information to the user. For example, the home appliance 10 may obtain information related to the function of the home appliance 10 (e.g., recipe, washing method, or the like) and various environmental information (e.g., weather, temperature, humidity, or the like) from the server 3, and output the obtained information through the user interface.
The home appliance 10 may operate according to a control command received from the other home appliance(s), the user device 2, or the server 3. For example, when the home appliance 10 obtains the user's prior approval to operate according to the control command of the server 3, even if there is no user input, the home appliance 10 may operate according to the control command received from the server 3. Here, the control command received from the server 3 may include a control command input by the user through the user device 2 or a control command based on a predetermined condition but is not limited thereto.
The user device 2 may transmit information about the user to the home appliance 10 or the server 3 through the communication module. For example, the user device 2 may transmit information about the position of the user, the health condition of the user, the taste of the user, the schedule of the user, and the like to the server 3. The user device 2 may transmit the information about the user to the server 3 according to prior approval by the user.
The home appliance 10, the user device 2, or the server 3 may determine a control command using a technology, such as artificial intelligence. For example, the server 3 may receive information about the operation or the status of the home appliance 10, receive the information about the user of the user device 2, process the information using technology, such as artificial intelligence, and transmit the processing result or the control command to the home appliance 10 or the user device 2 based on the processing result.

The processor 220 may execute, for example, a software (e.g., a program 240) to control at least one other component (e.g., a hardware or software component) of the electronic device 201 coupled with the processor 220 and may perform various data processing or computations. According to one embodiment of the disclosure, as at least part of the data processing or computations, the processor 220 may store a command or data received from another component (e.g., the sensor module 276 or the communication module 290) in a volatile memory 232, process the command or the data stored in the volatile memory 232, and store resulting data in a non-volatile memory 234. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the processor 220 may include a main processor 221 (e.g., a central processing unit (CPU) or an application processor (AP)), or an auxiliary processor 223 (e.g., a graphics processing unit (GPU), a neural processing unit (NPU), an image signal processor (ISP), a sensor hub processor, or a communication processor (CP)) that is operable independently from, or in conjunction with, the main processor 121. For example, when the electronic device 201 includes the main processor 221 and the auxiliary processor 223, the auxiliary processor 223 may be configured to use lower power than the main processor 221 or to be specified for a designated function. The auxiliary processor 223 may be implemented as separate from or as part of the main processor 221.
The auxiliary processor 223 may control at least some of functions or states related to at least one component (e.g., the display module 260, the sensor module 276, or the communication module 290) among the components of the electronic device 201, instead of the main processor 221 while the main processor 221 is in an inactive (e.g., a sleep) state, or together with the main processor 221 while the main processor 221 is in an active state (e.g., executing an application). According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the auxiliary processor 223 (e.g., an image signal processor or a communication processor) may be implemented as part of another component (e.g., the camera module 280 or the communication module 290) functionally related to the auxiliary processor 123. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the auxiliary processor 223 (e.g., the neural processing unit) may include a hardware structure specified for artificial intelligence model processing. The artificial intelligence model may be generated via machine learning. Such learning may be performed, e.g., by the electronic device 201 where the artificial intelligence model is performed or by a separate server. Learning algorithms may include, but are not limited to, supervised learning, unsupervised learning, semi-supervised learning, or reinforcement learning. The artificial intelligence model may include a plurality of artificial neural network layers. The artificial neural network may be a deep neural network (DNN), a convolutional neural network (CNN), a recurrent neural network (RNN), a restricted Boltzmann machine (RBM), a deep belief network (DBN), a bidirectional recurrent deep neural network (BRDNN), deep Q-network or a combination of two or more thereof but is not limited thereto. The artificial intelligence model may additionally or alternatively, include a software structure other than the hardware structure.
The memory 230 may store various data used by at least one component (e.g., the processor 220 or the sensor module 276) of the electronic device 201. The various data may include a software (e.g., the program 240) and input/output data for a command related thereto. The memory 230 may include the volatile memory 232 or the non-volatile memory 234. The non-volatile memory 234 may include an internal memory 236 and an external memory 238.
The program 240 may be stored in the memory 230 as a software and may include an operating system (OS) 242, middleware 244, or an application 246.
The input module 250 may receive a command or data to be used by other component(s) (e.g., the processor 220) of the electronic device 201, from an external source (e.g., a user) of the electronic device 201. The input module 250 may include a microphone, a mouse, a keyboard, keys (e.g., buttons), or a digital pen (e.g., a stylus pen).
The sound output module 255 may output sound signals to the outside of the electronic device 201. The sound output module 255 may include a speaker or a receiver. The speaker may be used for general purposes, such as playing multimedia or playing record. The receiver may be used for receiving incoming calls. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the receiver may be implemented as separate from or as part of the speaker.
The display module 260 may visually provide information to the outside (e.g., a user) of the electronic device 201. For example, the electronic device 201 may include a display with a display area that visually provides information to the outside. The display module 260 may include a display, a hologram device, or a projector, and a control circuit to control at least one of the corresponding devices. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the display 260 may include a touch sensor configured to detect a touch, or a pressure sensor configured to measure the intensity of a force generated by the touch.
The audio module 270 may convert a sound into an electrical signal and vice versa. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the audio module 270 may obtain the sound via the input module 250 or output the sound via the sound output module 255 or an external electronic device (e.g., a speaker or headphone) directly or wirelessly connected to the electronic device 201.
The sensor module 276 may detect an operational state (e.g., power or temperature) of the electronic device 201 or an environmental state (e.g., a state of a user) external to the electronic device 101, and then generate an electrical signal or data value corresponding to the detected state. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the sensor module 276 may include a gesture sensor, a gyro sensor, an atmospheric pressure sensor, a magnetic sensor, an accelerometer, a grip sensor, a proximity sensor, a color sensor, an infrared (IR) sensor, a biometric sensor, a temperature sensor, a humidity sensor, or an illuminance sensor.
The interface 277 may support one or more designated protocols to be used for the electronic device 201 to be connected to the external electronic device physically or wirelessly. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the interface 277 may include, for example, a high definition multimedia interface (HDMI), a universal serial bus (USB) interface, a secure digital (SD) card interface, or an audio interface.
A connecting terminal 278 may include a connector via which the electronic device 201 may be physically connected to the external electronic device. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the connecting terminal 278 may include a HDMI connector, a USB connector, a SD card connector, or an audio connector (e.g., a headphone connector).
The haptic module 279 may convert an electrical signal into a mechanical stimulus (e.g., a vibration or motion) or electrical stimulus which may be recognized by a user via his tactile sensation or kinesthetic sensation. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the haptic module 279 may include a motor, a piezoelectric element, or an electric stimulator.
The camera module 280 may capture a still image or moving images. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the camera module 280 may include one or more lenses, image sensors, image signal processors, or flashes.
The power management module 288 may manage power supplied to the electronic device 201. According to one embodiment of the disclosure, the power management module 288 may be implemented as at least part of, for example, a power management integrated circuit (PMIC).
The battery 189 may supply power to at least one component of the electronic device 201. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the battery 289 may include a primary cell which is not rechargeable, a secondary cell which is rechargeable, or a fuel cell.
The communication module 290 may support establishing a direct or physical (e.g., wired) communication channel or a wireless communication channel between the electronic device 201 and the external electronic device (e.g., an electronic device or a server) and performing communication via the established communication channel. The communication module 290 may include one or more communication processors that are operable independently from the processor 220 (e.g., the application processor (AP)) and supports a direct (e.g., wired) communication or a wireless communication. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the communication module 290 may include a wireless communication module 292 (e.g., a cellular communication module, a short-range wireless communication module, or a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) communication module) or a wired communication module 294 (e.g., a LAN communication module or a power line communication (PLC) module). A corresponding one of these communication modules may communicate with the external electronic device via a first network (e.g., a short-range communication network, such as Bluetooth™, Wi-Fi direct, or infrared data association (IrDA)) or a second network (e.g., a long-range communication network, such as a legacy cellular network, a 5G network, a next-generation communication network, the Internet, or a computer network (e.g., LAN or WAN). These various types of communication modules may be implemented as a single component (e.g., a single chip) or may be implemented as multi components (e.g., multi-chips) separate from each other. The wireless communication module 292 may identify or authenticate the electronic device 201 in a communication network, such as the first network or the second network, using subscriber information (e.g., international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI)) stored in the subscriber identification module 296.
The wireless communication module 292 may support a 5G network, after a 4G network, and next-generation communication technology, e.g., new radio (NR) access technology. The NR access technology may support enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), massive machine type communications (mMTC), or ultra-reliable and low-latency communications (URLLC). The wireless communication module 292 may support a high-frequency band (e.g., the mmWave band) to achieve, e.g., a high data transmission rate. The wireless communication module 292 may support various technologies for securing performance on a high-frequency band, such as, e.g., beamforming, massive multiple-input and multiple-output (massive MIMO), full dimensional MIMO (FD-MIMO), array antenna, analog beam-forming, or large scale antenna. The wireless communication module 292 may support various requirements specified in the electronic device 201, the external electronic device, or the network system. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the wireless communication module 292 may support a peak data rate (e.g., 20 Gbps or more) for implementing eMBB, loss coverage (e.g., 164 dB or less) for implementing mMTC, or U-plane latency (e.g., 0.5 ms or less for each of downlink (DL) and uplink (UL), or a round trip of 1 ms or less) for implementing URLLC.
The antenna module 297 may transmit or receive a signal or power to or from the outside (e.g., the external electronic device). According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the antenna module 297 may include one antenna including a radiator formed of a conductor or conductive pattern formed on a substrate (e.g., a printed circuit board (PCB)). According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the antenna module 297 may include a plurality of antennas (e.g., an antenna array). In this case, at least one antenna appropriate for a communication scheme used in a communication network, such as the first network or the second network, may be selected from a plurality of antennas by, e.g., the communication module 290. The signal or the power may then be transmitted or received between the communication module 290 and the external electronic device via the selected at least one antenna. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, other parts (e.g., radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC)) than the radiator may be further formed as part of the antenna module 297.
According to various embodiments of the disclosure, the antenna module 297 may form a mmWave antenna module. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the mmWave antenna module may include a PCB, a RFIC disposed on a first surface (e.g., the bottom surface) of the PCB, or adjacent to the first surface and capable of supporting a designated high-frequency band (e.g., the mmWave band), and a plurality of antennas (e.g., array antennas) disposed on a second surface (e.g., the top or a side surface) of the PCB, or adjacent to the second surface and capable of transmitting or receiving signals of the designated high-frequency band.
At least some of the above-described components may be coupled mutually and communicate signals (e.g., commands or data) via an inter-peripheral communication scheme (e.g., a bus, general purpose input and output (GPIO), serial peripheral interface (SPI), or mobile industry processor interface (MIPI)).
According to an embodiment of the disclosure, instructions or data may be transmitted or received between the electronic device 201 and the external electronic device via the server coupled with the second network. In another embodiment of the disclosure, the external electronic device may include an IoT device. The server may be an intelligent server using machine learning and/or a neural network. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the external electronic device or the server may be included in the second network.
