1. Field
An aspect of the present invention relates to an electronic apparatus.
2. Description of the Related Art
An electronic apparatus such as a portable computer includes a display unit. The display unit includes a housing, and a display device which is housed in the housing.
For example, U.S. Pat. No. 6,992,884 B2 discloses an electronic apparatus including a bracket which absorbs a dimensional difference between a housing and a display device. The bracket disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 6,992,884 B2 has a first portion which is fixed to the display device, a second portion which is fixed to the housing, and a connecting portion through which the first portion is connected to the second portion.
The second portion (i.e., the portion fixed to the housing) of the bracket disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 6,992,884 B2 has a mounting hole which is disposed directly in the side of the display device. A screw which is inserted into the mounting hole of the bracket is engaged with a screw hole of the housing, whereby the bracket is fixed to the housing. In such an electronic apparatus, when a part of the housing is deformed by thermal expansion or the like, stress is applied between the display device and the screw, and may possibly cause the display device to be broken.

Engaging claws 94 which are, for example, plural are formed on the inner peripheral faces of the left and right peripheral walls 91, 92 of the mask 13. On the other hand, engaged portions 95 which correspond to the engaging claws 94 are disposed in the left and right peripheral walls 16c, 16d of the cover 12, and engaged with the engaging claws. Therefore, the mask 13 is detachably fixed to the cover 12. The engaging claws 94 and the engaged portions 95 will be described later with reference to
Next, the function of the portable computer 1 will be described.
The electronic component 19 is housed in the first projection 18a of the cover 12 in the embodiment. When the electronic component 19 generates heat, the mask 13 and the cover 12 are different from each other in coefficient of thermal expansion because they are configured of the different materials as described above.
When the portable computer 1 is activated and the electronic component 19 generates heat, the heat of the electronic component 19 is transmitted to the mask 13 and cover 12 which sandwich the both faces of the electronic component 19. In the embodiment, the coefficient of thermal expansion of the mask 13 which is configured of a plastic member is larger than that of the cover 12 which is configured of a magnesium alloy material. When the mask 13 and cover 12 which have different coefficients of thermal expansion are connected to each other, expansion and contraction of the cover 12 cannot follow those due to expansion of the mask 13, and stress is applied to connecting portions such as the regions where fixation is performed by the screws and the engaging claws. As a result, there is a possibility that the housing may be broken in the regions.
In the portable computer 1 of the embodiment, therefore, a gap is disposed in the connecting portions between the mask 13 and the cover 12 to allow the mask 13 to expand and contract by thermal expansion. This configuration will be specifically described with reference to
As shown in
Each of the screws 76 in the embodiment includes: an upper end portion 761 which has a recess 761a that receives external stress, and a first face 761b that, when the screw is screwed with the screwed portion 151a or 151b of the cover 12, butts against the upper face 151 of the screwed portion 151a or 151b; a middle portion 762 having a second face 762a for holding the mask 13 in the vicinity of the cover 12; and a screwing portion 763 that is screwed with the screwed portion 151a or 151b of the cover 12. As shown in
The mask 13 in the embodiment has the through-holes 131 into which the screws 76 are to be inserted, and recesses 132 which are in the peripheries of the through-holes 131, and into which upper end portions 761 of the screws 76 are to be embedded. Each of the recesses 132 which are formed in the mask 13 in the embodiment has a first recess 132a into which a lid 300 for preventing the upper end portion 761 of the screw 76 from being exposed is to be inserted, and a second recess 132b having a held face 133 that is opposed to the second face 762a of the screw 76.
As shown in
The height 1 of the middle portions 762 of the screws is formed to be larger than the depth m of the through-holes 131 of the mask 13, and hence a gap n is formed. Therefore, the mask 13 is allowed to be moved in the direction away from the cover 12. According to the configuration, when receiving heat from the electronic component 19, the mask 13 in the embodiment can expand or contract in the lateral direction of the drawing without resistance in the direction in which the screws 76 are inserted.
A gap o is formed between an end portion 134 of the mask 13 and the peripheral wall 16 of the cover 12. According to the configuration, when receiving heat from the electronic component 19, the mask 13 in the embodiment can expand or contract in the lateral direction of the drawing without suppression by the peripheral wall 16 of the cover 12.
Next, the engagement structure using the engaging claws 94 in the embodiment will be specifically described with reference to
As shown in
Each of the engaging claws 94 in the embodiment is configured by a claw portion 941 which is to be engaged with the corresponding engaged portion 95 of the cover 12, and a rib 942 which is raised from the upper wall 121 of the mask 13 in the direction intersecting with the display screen of the display device 8. Each of the engaged portions 95 in the embodiment is configured by an engaging face 951 which is to be engaged with the corresponding claw portion 941 of the mask 13, and an extended portion 952 which is extended from the peripheral wall 16. As shown in
As shown in
Next, the portable computer 1 which is an electronic apparatus of a second embodiment of the invention will be described with reference to
In the portable computer 1, as shown in
In the portable computer 1 of the second embodiment configured as described above, the gaps formed in the connecting portions can be maintained to have a constant size, and interference between the mask 13 and the screws 76 and the like can be avoided.
The invention is not restricted to the above-described embodiments as they are, and, in the stage of implementation, the invention can be embodied while the components are modified without departing the spirit and scope of the invention. By appropriate combinations of plural components disclosed in the embodiments, various inventions can be configured. For example, some of the components can be omitted from all of the components shown in the embodiments. Moreover, the components in different embodiments can be appropriately combined.
