Claims
- 1. A method for printing on a metal item comprising the steps of:
- forming an electrostatic latent image on a photosensitive drum based on print information;
- developing said electrostatic latent image into a toner image by means of a wet toner;
- transferring said toner image on said photosensitive drum onto an intermediate transfer medium having a cushion layer thereon;
- transferring said toner image on said intermediate transfer medium onto a surface of a metal item; and
- fixing said toner image on said surface of said metal item,
- wherein said step of transfer ring said toner image onto a metal item includes the step of pressing said intermediate transfer medium against said metal item.
- 2. The method according to claim 1, wherein said wet toner includes toner particles of submicron order.
- 3. The method according to claim 1, wherein said step of transferring said toner image onto said surface of said metal item and said step of fixing said toner image on said surface of said metal item are performed simultaneously.
- 4. The method according to claim 1, wherein said cushion layer includes conductive material.
- 5. The method according to claim 1, wherein said cushion layer is made of conductive rubber.
- 6. The method according to claim 1, wherein said intermediate transfer medium further comprises a silicone layer on said cushion layer.
- 7. The method according to claim 1, wherein said step of transferring said toner image onto a metal item includes the step of transferring said toner image onto a metal sheet.
- 8. The method according to claim 1, wherein said step of transferring said toner image onto a metal item includes the step of transferring said toner image onto a metal can.
- 9. A method for printing on a metal item comprising the steps of:
- forming an electrostatic latent image on a photosensitive drum based on print information;
- developing said electrostatic latent image into a toner image by means of a wet toner;
- transferring said toner image on said photosensitive drum onto an intermediate transfer medium having a cushion layer thereon;
- transferring said toner image on said intermediate transfer medium onto a surface of a metal item; and
- fixing said toner image on said surface of said metal item,
- wherein said cushion layer is made of conductive rubber; and
- wherein said intermediate transfer medium further comprises a silicon layer on said cushion layer.
- 10. The method according to claim 9, wherein said step of transferring said toner image onto said surface of said metal item and said step of fixing said toner image on said surface of said metal item are performed simultaneously.
- 11. A method for printing on a metal item comprising the steps of:
- successively forming a plurality of electrostatic latent images based on print information color-separated into yellow, magenta, cyan and black, on a photosensitive drum;
- successively developing said electrostatic latent images into toner images by means of wet toners of different colors corresponding to the color-separated print information;
- forming a multicolor toner image on an intermediate transfer medium having a cushion layer thereon by successively repeating a process in which said toner images are transferred to said intermediate transfer medium in layers;
- transferring said multicolor toner image onto a surface of a metal item; and
- fixing said multicolor toner image on said surface of said metal item,
- wherein said step of transferring said multicolor toner image onto a surface of a metal item includes the step of pressing said intermediate transfer medium against said metal item.
- 12. The method according to claim 11, wherein said step of transferring said multicolor toner image onto said surface of said metal item and said step of fixing said multicolor toner image on said surface of said metal item are performed simultaneously.
- 13. The method according to claim 11, wherein said cushion layer includes conductive material.
- 14. The method according to claim 11, wherein said cushion layer is made of conductive rubber.
- 15. The method according to claim 11, wherein said intermediate transfer medium further comprises a silicone layer on said cushion layer.
- 16. The method according to claim 11, wherein said step of transferring said multicolor toner image onto a metal item includes the step of transferring said multicolor toner image onto a metal sheet.
- 17. The method according to claim 11, wherein said step of transferring said multicolor toner image onto a metal item includes the step of transferring said multicolor toner image onto a metal can.
- 18. The method according to claim 1, wherein said wet toners include toner particles of submicron order.
- 19. A method for printing on a metal item comprising the steps of:
- forming an electrostatic latent image on a photosensitive drum based on print information;
- developing said electrostatic latent image into a toner image by means of a wet toner;
- transferring said toner image on said photosensitive drum onto an intermediate transfer medium having a cushion layer thereon;
- transferring said toner image on said intermediate transfer medium onto a surface of a metal item; and
- fixing said toner image on said surface of said metal item,
- wherein said step of developing said electrostatic latent image into a toner image by means of a wet toner includes the step of urging a developing roller and a squeeze roller of a developing unit against said photosensitive drum; and
- wherein said method for printing on a metal item further includes the step of absorbing surplus liquid from a surface of said intermediate transfer medium after said toner image is transferred.
- 20. A method for printing on a metal item comprising the steps of:
- successively forming a plurality of electrostatic latent images based on print information color-separated into yellow, magenta, cyan and black, on a photosensitive drum;
- successively developing said electrostatic latent images into toner images by means of wet toners of different colors corresponding to the color-separated print information;
- forming a multicolor toner image on an intermediate transfer medium having a cushion layer thereon by successively repeating a process in which said toner images are transferred to said intermediate transfer medium in layers;
- transferring said multicolor toner image onto a surface of a metal item; and
- fixing said multicolor toner image on said surface of said metal item,
- wherein said step of successively developing said electrostatic latent images onto toner images by means of wet toners of different colors includes the step of successively urging developing units corresponding to said different colors against said photosensitive drum one after another in seriatim; and
- wherein said method for printing on a metal item further includes the step of absorbing surplus liquid from a surface of said intermediate transfer medium after said multicolor toner image is transferred.
- 21. A method for printing on a metal item comprising the steps of:
- successively forming a plurality of electrostatic latent images based on print information color-separated into yellow, magenta, cyan and black, on a photosensitive drum;
- successively developing said electrostatic latent images into toner images by means of wet toners of different colors corresponding to the color-separated print information;
- forming a multicolor toner image on an intermediate transfer medium having a cushion layer thereon by successively repeating a process in which said toner images are transferred to said intermediate transfer medium in layers;
- transferring said multicolor toner image onto a surface of a metal item; and
- fixing said multicolor toner image on said surface of said metal item,
- wherein said cushion layer is made of conductive rubber; and
- wherein said intermediate transfer medium further comprises a silicone layer on said cushion layer.
- 22. The method according to claim 21, wherein said step of transferring said multicolor toner image onto said surface of said metal item and said step of fixing said multicolor toner image on said surface of said metal item are performed simultaneously.
