Claims
- 1. A method for making an electrostatic recording head comprising the steps of:
- arranging and soldering each of a plurality of rod-shaped end portions of control electrode units to a flat plate;
- arranging and integrally forming, with a resin, electrode wires to constitute recording electrodes along said control electrode units soldered to said flat plate, thereby forming a resin body; and
- cutting through said resin body, said rod-shaped portions of said control electrode units, and said electrode wires in a plane parallel to said flat plate in order to form said control electrodes and said recording electrodes.
- 2. A method for making an electrostatic recording head comprising the steps of:
- arranging and adhering each of a plurality of rod-shaped end portions of control electrode units to a flat plate;
- arranging and integrally forming, with a resin, electrode wires to constitute recording electrodes along said control electrode units adhered to said flat plate, thereby forming a resin body; and
- cutting through said resin body, said rod-shaped portions of said control electrode units, and said electrode wires in a plane parallel to said flat plate in order to form said control electrodes and said recording electrodes.
- 3. A method for making an electrostatic recording head comprising the steps of:
- attaching a printed circuit board on part of an outer circumferential surface of a columnar body having thread grooves thereon, on said printing circuit board being formed electrode wire connecting lands and matrix wirings for connecting predetermined ones of said electrode wire connecting lands, and an electrically conductive adhesive being applied on said electrode wire connecting lands;
- winding an electrode wire on said columnar body with said printed circuit board attached thereto along said thread grooves while rotating said columnar body; and
- removing at predetermined timings, prior to winding said electrode wire on said columnar body, an insulating film of said electrode wire at parts which are brought into contact with said electrode wire connecting lands of said printed circuit board when said electrode wire is wound on said columnar body.
- 4. Apparatus for making an electrostatic recording head comprising:
- a rotatable mandrel adapted to carry on its outer circumferential surface flexible printed circuit board of the type including plural electrode wire connecting lands;
- electrode wire supplying means operatively associated with said mandrel for continuously supplying an insulated electrode wire to said mandrel along a wire supply path and for winding said electrode wire around said circumferential surface upon rotation of said mandrel; and
- insulation-removing means, located along said wire supply path upstream of said mandrel, for periodiocally removing portions of insulation from said electrode wire to expose those corresponding portions of said electrode wire which electrically contact said connecting lands when said electrode wire is wound on said mandrel.
- 5. Apparatus as in claim 4 wherein said insulation-removing means includes:
- (a) flame generating means, operatively associated with said insulation-removing means, for generating a flame to melt an insulation of said insulated electrode wire;
- (b) mounting means for mounting said flame generating means for movements along a course which intercepts said supply path; and
- (c) control means connected to said mounting means for moving said mounting means along said course to cause said generated flame to periodically intercept said control wire being supplied along said wire supply path to thereby responsively remove insulation periodically therefrom.
- 6. Apparatus as in claim 5 wherein said mounting means includes means for establishing a closed loop course of movement.
- 7. An apparatus for making an electrostatic recording head comprising:
- a rotatable columnar body defining thread grooves on an outer circumferential surface thereof,
- a printed circuit board attached to said columnar body and having electrode wire connecting lands and matrix wirings for connecting predetermined ones of said electrode wire connecting lands, on part of the outer circumferential surface of said body;
- means for supplying a tensioned electrode wire along a supply path to said columnar body and for winding said electrode wire on said columnar body along said thread grooves thereof so that said electrode wire may be brought into contact with corresponding ones of said electrode wire connecting lands of said printed circuit board; and
- electrode wire insulating film removing meams located at a position along said supply path upstream of said columnar body for periodically removing, prior to winding up said electrode wire on said columnar body, those portions of said electrode wire insulating film which are to be brought into contact with said electrode wire connecting lands of said printed circuit board when said electrode wire is wound on said columnar body.
- 8. An apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said columnar body is a columnar body having a circular cross section.
- 9. An apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said printed circuit board is a flexible printed circuit board.
- 10. An apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said electrode wire insulting film removing means comprises:
- rotary driving means, clutch means operatively coupled to said rotary dividing means for transmitting rotational movement; means for controlling the operation of said clutch means; means movably fixed to said clutch means for drawing at front end thereof, a track of closed loop within a plane perpendicular to a rotating axis of said rotary driving means; and means arranged at said front end for generating a small flame, whereby said small flame is moved along said track of closed loop to remove part of said insulating film of said electrode wire which is driven in a direction to cross said track of closed loop.
- 11. An apparatus according to claim 10, wherein said small flame generating means comprises a gas torch.
- 12. An apparatus according to claim 11, wherein said means for drawing said track of closed loop comprises a rotating lever one end of which is fixed to a rotating shaft of said clutch means; an operation lever one end of which is rotatably supported at the other end of said rotating lever and the other end of which is fixed to a tube communicating with said gas torch; a pivotal lever one end of which is movably supported by a stationary pin; and a slide bush which is fixed to said povotal lever and which slides on an outer circumferential surface of said tube communicating with said gas torch along an axis thereof, whereby a track of said gas torch forms a closed loop of substantially elliptical shape.
- 13. An apparatus for making an electrostatic recording head comprising:
- a rotatable columnar body on an outer circumferential surface of which are formed thread grooves, a deep straight groove for forming an electrode retainer across said thread grooves and along a longitudinal direction thereof, and a shallow straight groove for forming an electrode wire terminal end retainer at a predetermined distance from said deep straight groove;
- a flexible printed circuit board attached to a part of the outer circumferential surface of said columnar body, said circuit board having electrode wire connecting lands and matrix wirings for connecting predetermined ones of said electrode wire connecting lands, said circuit board also having an electrically conductive adhesive applied on said electrode wire connecting lands of said flexible printed circuit board;
- means operatively associated with said columnar body for supplying a tensioned electrode wire to said columnar body along a supply path so as to wind said electrode wire on said columnar body along said thread grooves upon rotation of said columnar body such that said electrode wire may be brought into contact with corresponding ones of said electrode wire connecting lands of said printed circuit board attached to said columnar body; and
- means located along said supply path upstream of said columnar body of periodically removing, prior to winding aid electrode wire on said columnar body, those portions of an insulating film of said electrode wire which are brought into contact with said electrode wire connecting lands of said printed circuit board when said electrode wire is wound on said columnar body.
- 14. A method of making an electrostatic recording comprising the steps of:
- arranging a control electrode unit in a deep straight groove of a columnar body which has, on an outer circumferential surface thereof, thread grooves, said deep straight groove for forming an electrode retainer across said thread grooves along longitudinal direction thereof, and a shallow straight groove for forming an electrode wire terminal end retainer at a predetermined distance from said deep straight groove;
- attaching, to part of the outer circumferential surface of said columnar body, a flexible printed circuit board on which are formed electrode wire connecting lands and matrix wirings for connecting predetermined ones of said electrode wire connecting lands, an electrically conductive adhesive being applied on said electrode wire connecting lands;
- winding an electrode wire on said columnar body with said printed circuit board attached thereto along said thread grooves while rotating said columnar body;
- removing at predetermined timings, prior to winding said electrode wire on said columnar body, an insulating film of said electrode wire at parts which are brought into contact with said electrode wire connecting lands when said electrode wire is wound on said columnar body;
- mounting molds to said deep straight groove and said shallow groove and injecting a resin into said molds;
- heat treating said printed circuit board mounted to said columnar body, said electrode wire and said resin to cure said electrode retainer and said electrode wire terminal end retainer and to electrically connect said electrode wire with said electrode wire connecting lands; and
- connecting said matrix wirings and lead wires connected to an array of said control electrode to connector terminals of a rigid printed circuit board.
