Claims
- 1. A retractable support structure for use with a projection device comprising:
a foot extension configured to contact a reference surface; and a one-piece substantially planar bracket configured to support the foot extension and slidably couple the foot extension with a housing of the projection device, wherein the bracket enables the foot extension to extend and retract relative to the housing of the projection device.
- 2. The retractable support structure of claim 1, wherein said bracket is configured to slidably couple the foot extension with the housing via a snap fit connection.
- 3. The retractable support structure of claim 2, wherein said bracket includes at least one tenon adapted to be coupled to a groove in said housing to form said snap fit connection.
- 4. The retractable support structure of claim 1, wherein said bracket is located in a front-center portion of the projection device.
- 5. The retractable support structure of claim 1, further comprising a pawl engaging a groove rack of said foot extension.
- 6. The retractable support structure of claim 5, wherein said pawl has at least a C-shape portion that provides a spring-loaded action in a direction to engage said pawl to said-groove rack.
- 7. The retractable support structure of claim 1, wherein said bracket includes a first coarse alignment tab and a second fine alignment tab for positioning the bracket within the housing.
- 8. A projection device having the retractable support structure of claim 1.
- 9. A projection device comprising:
a light source; an optical engine receiving light produced from the light source and configured to generate an image; a ventilation path configured to permit air to flow past the light source to provide cooling to the device; and an elevator assembly configured to support the device and sized to reduce interference with the flow of air through the ventilation path.
- 10. The projection device of claim 9, further comprising a housing for containing said light source, said optical engine, and at least a portion of the elevator assembly.
- 11. The projection device of claim 9, wherein said elevator assembly comprises:
a foot extension configured to contact a reference surface, said foot extension having a rack; a bracket configured to support the foot extension and slidably couple the foot extension with said housing of the projection device; and a pawl adapted to be actuated by a user, said pawl engaged with said rack of said foot extension in a spring-loaded orientation forcing an end of said pawl towards said rack.
- 12. The projection device of claim 11, wherein said bracket is configured to slidably couple the foot extension with the housing via a snap fit connection.
- 13. The projection device of claim 12, wherein said bracket includes at least one tenon adapted to be coupled to a groove in said housing to form said snap fit connection.
- 14. The projection device of claim 11, wherein said bracket is located in a front-center portion of the projection device.
- 15. The projection device of claim 11, wherein said pawl has at least a C-shape portion that provides said spring-loaded force.
- 16. The projection device of claim 11, wherein said bracket includes a first coarse alignment tab and a second fine alignment tab.
- 17. The projection device of claim 11, wherein said foot extension, said bracket, and said pawl are in a common plane.
- 18. A retractable support structure for use with a projection device comprising:
a foot extension configured to contact a reference surface, said foot extension having a rack; a bracket configured to support the foot extension and slidably couple the foot extension with said housing of the projection device, wherein the bracket enables the foot extension to extend and retract relative to the housing of the projection device; a pawl engaged with said rack of said foot extension, said pawl compressed in a spring-loaded orientation forcing an end of said pawl towards said rack; and a button adapted to actuate said pawl by further compressing said pawl and thereby disengaging said pawl from said rack of said foot extension.
- 19. The retractable support structure of claim 18, wherein said foot extension, said bracket, and said pawl are in a common plane.
- 20. The retractable support structure of claim 18, wherein said bracket includes a first coarse alignment tab and a second fine alignment tab.
- 21. The retractable support structure of claim 18, wherein said bracket is configured to be snap fit into the projection device.
- 22. A projection device comprising:
an image generation means; and a selectively adjustable support means for the projection device.
- 23. The projection device of claim 22, wherein the selectively adjustable support means includes a button means.
- 24. The projection device of claim 22, wherein the selectively adjustable support means includes a bracket means.
- 25. The projection device of claim 22, wherein the selectively adjustable support means is configured to be snapped into the projection device.
