Claims
- 1. A method of assigning a selected one of a plurality of elevator cars serving a plurality of floors in a building to respond to a hall call registered at one of said floors by providing for each car a value indicative of its suitability for responding to said hall call according to a plurality of parameters and elevator operating conditions, selecting for assignment the car having the value indicative of greater suitability than that indicated by the values provided for the other ones of said plurality of cars, providing a quantified indication of the uncertainty of the selected car having the highest suitability for responding to said hall call in dependence on a relationship between the value indicative of suitability of the selected car and the values indicative of suitability of said plurality of cars, and assigning said selected car to respond to said hall call only if said indication of uncertainty is less than a predetermined quantified value of uncertainty.
- 2. A method according to claim 1 including assigning said selected car to respond to said hall call only if the ratio of the value indicative of suitability of the selected car to the sum of the values indicative of suitability of said plurality of cars is more than a predetermined threshold ratio.
- 3. A method according to claim 1 wherein said predetermined quantified value becomes larger as a function of the time which has elapsed since said hall call was registered.
- 4. A method according to claim 3 wherein said predetermined quantified value becomes larger as a linear function of the time which has elapsed since said hall call was registered.
- 5. A method of assigning a selected one of a plurality of elevator cars serving a plurality of floors in a building to respond to a hall call registered at one of said floors by providing for each car a value indicative of its suitability for responding to said hall call according to a plurality of parameters and elevator operating conditions, selecting for assignment the car having the value indicative of greater suitability than that indicated by the values provided for the other ones of said plurality of cars, and assigning said selected car to respond to said hall call only if said value indicative of suitability of the selected car is in excess of a predetermined suitability value which becomes smaller as a function of the time which has elapsed since said hall call was registered.
- 6. A method according to claim 5 wherein said predetermined suitability value becomes smaller as a linear function of the time which has elapsed since said hall call was registered.
- 7. A method of assigning a selected one of a plurality of elevator cars serving a plurality of floors in a building to respond to a hall call registered at one of said floors by providing for each car a value indicative of its suitability for responding to said hall call according to a plurality of parameters and elevator operating conditions, selecting for assignment the car having the value indicative of greater suitability than that indicated by the values provided for the other ones of said plurality of cars, and assigning said selected car to respond to said hall call only after a constant, stored predetermined time, selected for the building, following the registering of said hall call.
