Claims
- 1. A laminate, comprising:(a) a first printed vinyl chloride polymer layer, optionally having an embossed surface; (b) a water-based polyester-amino composition second layer, said second layer comprising: 1) a water-based solvent system consisting essentially of water, one or more alkyl alcohols of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, and one or more alkylene glycol alkyl ethers, 2) an amino resin cross-linking agent being alkylated benzoguanamine, alkylated urea, or alkylated melamine formaldehyde resin, or combinations thereof, and an acid catalyst therefore, 3) a polyester resin miscible with said water-based solvent system and said amino resin, which is capable of being cross-linked by said amino resin cross-linking agent and said catalyst, and 4) optionally a silicone glycol, and wherein at least 90 mole % of the dicarboxylic acids of said polyester are saturated dicarboxylic acids, at least 95 mole % of said acids are straight chain carboxylic acids having from 4 to 8 carbon atoms, and at least 95 mole % of the polyol of said polyester is bis(hydroxymethyl) cyclohexane.
- 2. A laminate according to claim 1, wherein said first layer is fabric backed.
- 3. A laminate according to claim 1, wherein said first layer is embossed.
- 4. A laminate according to claim 3, wherein said water-based polyester-amino composition is substantially free of organic solvents.
- 5. A laminate, comprising:(a) a first printed vinyl chloride polymer layer, optionally having an embossed surface; said first layer having a thickness of from about 1 to about 100 mils, (b) a water-based polyester-amino composition second layer, said second layer consisting essentially of: 1) a water-based solvent system consisting essentially of water, one or more alkyl alcohols of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, and one or more alkylene glycol alkyl ethers, 2) an amino resin cross-linking agent being alkylated benzoguanamine, alkylated urea, or alkylated melamine formaldehyde resin, or combinations thereof, and an acid catalyst therefore, 3) a polyester resin miscible with said water-based solvent system and said amino resin, which is capable of being cross-linked by said amino resin cross-linking agent and said catalyst, and 4) optionally a silicone glycol, and wherein at least 90 mole % of the dicarboxylic acids of said polyester are saturated dicarboxylic acids, at least 95 mole % of said acids are straight chain carboxylic acids having from 4 to 8 carbon atoms, and at least 95 mole % of the polyol of said polyester is bis(hydroxymethyl) cyclohexane.
- 6. A laminate according to claim 5, wherein said first layer is embossed.
- 7. A laminate, comprising:(a) a backing layer; (b) an intermediate printed vinyl chloride polymer layer, optionally having an embossed surface; and (c) a water-based polyester-amino solution composition top layer, said water-based layer comprising: 1) a water-based solvent system consisting essentially of water, one or more alkyl alcohols of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, and one or more alkylene glycol alkyl ethers, 2) an amino resin cross-linking agent being alkylated benzoguanamine, alkylated urea, or alkylated melamine formaldehyde resin, or combinations thereof, and an acid catalyst therefore, 3) a polyester resin miscible with said water-based solvent system and said amino resin, which is capable of being cross-linked by said amino resin cross-linking agent and said catalyst, and 4) optionally a silicone glycol.
- 8. A laminate according to claim 7, wherein said backing layer comprises fabric.
- 9. A laminate according to claim 8, wherein said polymer layer is embossed.
- 10. A laminate according to claim 9, wherein said water-based layer is substantially free of organic solvents.
- 11. A laminate according to claim 10, wherein said polymer layer is from about 1 to about 100 mils thick.
