Claims
- 1. A method of treating nanoparticles, comprising treating said nanoparticles with a surfactant having multiple terminal olefins and crosslinking the surfactant by olefin metathesis.
- 2. The method of claim 1 including functionalizing the surfactant using a ligand.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein said surfactant comprises a resorcinarene.
- 4. The method of claim 1 including encapsulating said nanoparticles in a nondesorptive shell comprising a crosslinked resorcinarene.
- 5. The method of claim 1 wherein the nanoparticles have a diameter up to about 200 nm.
- 6. The method of claim 1 including crosslinking the surfactant by olefin metathesis using a Ru carbene catalyst.
- 7. The method of claim 2 including functionalizing the surfactant by cross-metathesis using an alkene-bearing ligand.
- 8. The method of claim 1 wherein the nanoparticles are metallic.
- 9. Nanoparticles having thereon a surfactant with multiple terminal olefins that have been crosslinked by olefin metathesis.
- 10. Nanoparticles having thereon a crosslinked resorcinarene surfactant that is ligand functionalized.
- 11. The nanoparticles of claim 10 wherein the ligand functionalization has been by cross-metathesis.
