Claims
- 1. A flexible endless printing band adapted for use in a print head of a label dispensing apparatus, the printing band comprising two series of first pads, the first pads having outwardly projecting printing characters, a first link portion connecting each pair of adjacent first pads, a pair of adjacent second pads each being of a length shorter than each first pad, the second pads having outwardly projecting printing characters, a second flexible link portion longer than a said first link portion, the second link portion connecting adjacent second pads, each second pad being connected to one series of first pads by a said first link portion, and the combined lengths of a pair of adjacent first pads and the intervening first link portion being substantially equal to the combined lengths of the pair of adjacent second pads and the intervening second link portion.
- 2. A flexible endless printing band adapted for use in a print head of a label dispensing apparatus, the printing band comprising two series of first pads, the first pads having outwardly projecting printing characters, a first link portion connecting each pair of adjacent first pads, a pair of adjacent second pads each being of a length shorter than each first pad, the second pads having outwardly projecting printing characters, a second flexible link portion longer than a said first link portion, the second link portion connecting adjacent second pads, each second pad being connected to one series of first pads by a said first link portion, the underside of the printing band having inwardly projecting uniformly spaced teeth, the combined lengths of a pair of adjacent first pads and the intervening first link portion being substantially equal to the combined lengths of the pair of adjacent second pads and the intervening second link portion, and wherein each first link portion includes a pair of hinges and an intervening third pad having a visually readable character.
- 3. A flexible endless printing band adapted for use in a print head of a label dispensing apparatus, the printing band comprising two series of first pads, the first pads having outwardly projecting printing characters, a first link portion connecting each pair of adjacent first pads, a pair of adjacent second pads each being of a length shorter than each first pad, the second pads having outwardly projecting printing characters, a second flexible link portion longer than a said first link portion, the second link portion connecting adjacent second pads, each second pad being connected to one series of first pads by a said first link portion, the underside of the printing band having inwardly projecting uniformly spaced teeth, the combined lengths of a pair of adjacent first pads and the intervening first link portion being substantially equal to the combined lengths of the pair of adjacent second pads and the intervening second link portion, and wherein the first and second link portions have visually readable characters.
- 4. A flexible endless printing band adapted for use in a print head of a label dispensing apparatus, the printing band comprising two series of first pads, the first pads having outwardly projecting printing characters, a first link portion connecting each pair of adjacent first pads, a pair of adjacent second pads each being of a length shorter than each first pad, the second pads having outwardly projecting printing characters, a second flexible link portion longer than a said first link portion, the second link portion connecting adjacent second pads, each second pad being connected to one series of first pads by a said first link portion, the underside of the printing band having inwardly projecting uniformly spaced teeth, the combined lengths of a pair of adjacent first pads and the intervening first link portion being substantially equal to the combined lengths of the pair of adjacent second pads and the intervening second link portion, wherein the first pads have numerical printing characters and the second pads have non-numerical printing characters, and wherein the first and second link portions have visually readable characters.
- 5. A flexible endless printing band as defined in any one of claims 1 through 4, including a third flexible link portion peripherally spaced from the second link portion and providing a non-printing blank, and wherein the second link portion includes a visually readable blank.
- 6. A flexible endless printing band as defined in any one of claims 2 through 4, including a third flexible link portion peripherally spaced from the second link portion and providing a non-printing blank, wherein the second link portion includes a visually readable blank, wherein each first pad has two of said teeth, and the second flexible link portion has one of said teeth.
- 7. A flexible endless printing band as defined in any one of claims 2 through 4, wherein each first pad has two of said teeth, each first link portion has one of said teeth, and each second link portion has one of said teeth.
- 8. A flexible endless printing band as defined in any one of claims 1 through 4, including a third flexible link portion peripherally spaced from the second link portion and providing a non-printing blank, the third flexible link portion being substantially equal in length to a said first pad.
