Claims
- 1. An energy conversion system comprising a storage tank, a compressor having an intake line, means for introducing fuel and air into the intake line to deliver a gaseous mixture of fuel and air to the compressor and including means for adjusting the ratio of fuel and air introduced, a discharge line extended from the compressor to the storage tank to deliver a pressurized gaseous mixture of fuel and air into the storage tank, at least one hollow enclosed burner element defining an interior combustion chamber and having inlet and discharge ports, a gas supply line connected with the inlet port of the burner element and with the storage tank to receive pressurized gaseous mixture from the storage tank, a needle control valve in the supply line for the burner element, the compressor discharge line and the burner supply line having a common connection with the storage tank, and a flame-back arrestor in said common connection.
- 2. A system as defined in claim 1 and further including an exhaust pipe connected with the discharge port of the burner element and being in heat exchange relation with the supply line.
- 3. A system as defined in claim 1 and further including an exhaust pipe connected with the discharge port of the burner element and extended therefrom for discharge of the products of combustion, the exhaust pipe being inclined downwardly from the discharge end of the burner element.
- 4. An energy conversion system comprising a storage tank, a compressor having an intake line, means for introducing fuel and air into the intake line to deliver a gaseous mixture of fuel and air to the compressor and including means for adjusting the ratio of fuel and air introduced, a discharge line extended from the compressor to the storage tank to deliver a pressurized gaseous mixture of fuel and air into the storage tank, at least one hollow enclosed burner element having inlet and discharge ports, a gas supply line connected with the inlet end of the burner element and with the line extended from the compressor to the storage tank to receive pressurized gaseous mixture from the storage tank, a control valve in the supply line for the burner element, and a device for preventing flame-back from the compressor or the burner element to the storage tank, said device being located in the line extended from the compressor to the storage tank at a point between the tank and the point of connection of the supply line for the burner element.
- 5. An energy conversion system comprising a storage tank, a compressor having an intake line, means for introducing fuel and air into the intake line to deliver a gaseous mixture of fuel and air to the compressor and including means for adjusting the ratio of fuel and air introduced, a discharge line extended from the compressor to the storage tank to deliver a pressurized gaseous mixture of fuel and air into the storage tank, at least one hollow enclosed burner element having inlet and discharge ports, a gas supply line connected with the inlet port of the burner element and with the storage tank to receive pressurized gaseous mixture from the storage tank, a control valve in the supply line for the burner element, and a gas mixture testing device connected with the burner supply line upstream of said burner control valve.
- 6. An energy conversion system comprising a hollow enclosed burner element defining an interior combustion chamber and having inlet and discharge ports, a storage tank, mechanism for introducing a pressurized gaseous mixture into the storage tank including in combination with a source of supply of compressed air, a pump for pressurizing a gaseous fuel, means for driving the pump comprising a compressed air motor receiving compressed air from said source, means for delivering pressurized gas from said pump and compressed air discharged from said motor into the storage tank, and means for delivering a pressurized mixture of gas and air from said tank to the inlet port of the burner element for combustion therein.
