Claims
- 1. A method for inhibiting incontinence of a patient, the method comprising:
transmitting energy from an energy-directing element of a probe to a collagenous target tissue comprising or supporting a urethra of a patient, the energy being transmitted so as to induce a healing response in the collagenous target tissue, the healing response comprising bulking or buttressing of the collagenous target tissue and the bulking or buttressing of the collagenous target tissue inhibiting the incontinence.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the energy heats the collagenous target tissue sufficiently to induce shrinkage of the collagenous target tissue.
- 3. The method of claim 1, wherein the energy comprises RF energy delivered with an electrode of the probe.
- 4. The method of claim 3, further comprising advancing the electrode of the probe into tissue, the electrode comprising a needle electrode.
- 5. The method of claim 1, further comprising introducing the probe transvaginally.
