Claims
- 1. Apparatus for protecting a fluid conveying device in fluid communication with valves and piping, comprising:
- a structure having a top and walls extending downward from the top,
- a door, and
- a pivot connecting said door to said structure, said pivot having a centroid, wherein the centroid of said pivot is located inside the structure so that said door is gravity closing.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said door comprises a notched portion.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the upper portion of the door is connected to the lower portion of one of said walls.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a door stop wherein said pivot and said stop are in the same vertical plane.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 4 wherein said stop comprises a zee.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said pivot is a hinge.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a water-resistant heater disposed in the lower portion of the apparatus.
- 8. Apparatus for protecting a fluid conveying device in fluid communication with valves and piping, comprising:
- a top and walls extending downward from the top forming an enclosure having a length and width, wherein the length is greater than the width of the enclosure, and
- a mounting bracket, said mounting bracket having at least two riser portions, wherein the distance between the riser portions is greater than the width of said enclosure such that the riser portions are disposed outside the enclosure when the enclosure is resting upon the mounting bracket.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 8 further comprising a rod, and
- wherein said enclosure and said mounting bracket contain openings, said openings being aligned when the enclosure is resting upon the mounting bracket and permitting insertion of said rod therethrough.
- 10. The apparatus of claim 9 further comprising a lock, and
- wherein said rod comprises a handle at one end and an opening at the other end, and further wherein said lock is inserted through the opening in said rod to prevent said enclosure from being removed from said mounting bracket.
- 11. The apparatus of claim 9 further comprising means for guiding said rod through said openings of said enclosure.
- 12. The apparatus of claim 8 further comprising a water-resistant heater disposed in the lower portion of the apparatus.
- 13. The apparatus of claim 8 wherein said mounting bracket further comprises mounting holes.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 8 wherein said mounting bracket further comprises a trough.
- 15. Apparatus for protecting a fluid conveying device in fluid communication with valves and piping, comprising:
- a top and walls extending downward from the top, said top formed of a plurality of top portions, each of said plurality of top portions having a centroid, and
- a hinge connecting the top portions,
- wherein the centroid of one of said plurality of top portions is located in a position past the vertical plane of the hinge to permit access to the fluid conveying device.
- 16. The apparatus of claim 11 further comprising an alignment guide to establish the opening for a center panel and to aide in the assembly of said apparatus.
- 17. The apparatus of claim 15 wherein said one of said plurality of top portions is adapted to rest upon at least one of a remainder of said plurality of top portions.
- 18. The apparatus of claim 15 further comprising a water-resistant heater disposed in the lower portion of the apparatus.
- 19. Apparatus for protecting a fluid conveying device in fluid communication with valves and piping, comprising:
- a top and walls extending downward from the top, said top formed of a plurality of top portions,
- a plurality of pivots connecting the top portions, and
- a latch to secure at least one of the plurality of top portions, said latch being accessible only through the interior of the apparatus.
- 20. Apparatus for protecting a fluid conveying device in fluid communication with valves and piping, comprising:
- a top and walls extending downward from the top, said top having a centroid, and
- a hinge connecting said top to one of said walls, wherein the centroid of said top is located in a position past the vertical plane of the hinge to permit access to the fluid conveying device.
- 21. The apparatus of claim 20 further comprising a latch to secure said top, said top being accessible only through the interior of the apparatus.
- 22. The apparatus of claim 20 further comprising an alignment guide to establish the opening for a center panel and to aide in the assembly of said apparatus.
- 23. The apparatus of claim 20 further comprising tabs extending from the lower portions of said walls, said tabs and said walls being formed as a single element.
- 24. The apparatus of claim 20 further comprising a water-resistant heater disposed in the lower portion of the apparatus.
- 25. Apparatus for protecting a fluid conveying device in fluid communication with valves and piping, said apparatus adapted to rest upon a slab comprising:
- a top;
- walls extending downward from the top; and
- tabs extending from the lower portions of said walls, said tabs and said walls being formed as a single element.
- 26. The apparatus of claim 25 further comprising a water-resistant heater disposed in the lower portion of the apparatus.
- 27. Apparatus for protecting a fluid conveying device in fluid communication with valves and piping, comprising:
- a structure having a top and walls extending downward from the top, said structure having an outside surface and an inside surface;
- a door; and
- a hinge, said hinge having a hinge joint connecting said door to said structure, said hinge joint located interior to the outside surface of said structure.
- 28. The apparatus of claim 27 further comprising insulation integrated into said top, said walls and said door.
- 29. The apparatus of claim 27 wherein said door is connected to one of said walls via said hinge.
- 30. The apparatus of claim 27 further comprising a water-resistant heater disposed in the lower portion of the apparatus.
- 31. Apparatus for protecting a fluid conveying device in fluid communication with valves and piping, comprising:
- a structure having a top and walls extending downward from the top,
- a door,
- insulation integrated into said structure and said door, and
- a hinge connecting said door to said structure, said hinge having a centroid, wherein the centroid of said hinge is located inside the structure.
- 32. The apparatus of claim 31 further comprising a water-resistant heater disposed in the lower portion of the apparatus.
- 33. Apparatus for protecting a fluid conveying device in fluid communication with valves and piping, comprising:
- a structure having a top and walls extending downward from the top, said structure having an outside surface and an inside surface;
- a door; and
- a pivot, said pivot having a joint connecting said door to said structure, said joint located interior to the outside surface of said structure.
- 34. The apparatus of claim 33 further comprising insulation integrated into said top, said walls and said door.
- 35. The apparatus of claim 33 wherein said door is connected to one of said walls via the joint of said pivot.
- 36. The apparatus of claim 33 further comprising a water-resistant heater disposed in the lower portion of the apparatus.
- 37. Apparatus for protecting a fluid conveying device in fluid communication with valves and piping, said apparatus adapted to rest upon a slab, comprising:
- a top and walls extending downward from said top,
- a radiant heater, and
- a holder for said radiant heater.
- 38. Apparatus for protecting a fluid conveying device in fluid communication with valves and piping, comprising:
- a slab,
- a top and walls extending downward from said top, said walls resting upon said slab,
- a radiant heater, and
- a holder for said radiant heater wherein said heater is mounted to said slab.
- 39. Apparatus for protecting a fluid conveying device in fluid communication with valves and piping, said apparatus adapted to rest upon a slab, comprising:
- a top and walls extending downward from said top,
- a radiant heater, and
- a holder for said radiant heater wherein said heater is mounted to one of said walls.
- 40. Apparatus for protecting a fluid conveying device in fluid communication with valves and piping, said apparatus adapted to rest upon a slab, comprising:
- a top and walls extending downward from said top,
- a radiant heater, and
- a holder for said radiant heater wherein said heater is mounted to said top.
- 41. Apparatus for protecting a fluid conveying device in fluid communication with valves and piping, said apparatus adapted to rest upon a slab, comprising:
- a fluid conveying device,
- a top and walls extending downward from said top, said top and walls enclosing said fluid conveying device,
- a radiant heater, and
- a holder for said radiant heater wherein said heater is mounted to said fluid conveying device.
- 42. Apparatus for protecting a fluid conveying device in fluid communication with valves and piping, said apparatus adapted to rest upon a slab, comprising:
- piping,
- a top and walls extending downward from said top, said top and walls enclosing said piping,
- a radiant heater, and
- a holder for said radiant heater wherein said heater is mounted to said piping.
- 43. Apparatus for protecting a fluid conveying device in fluid communication with valves and piping, said apparatus adapted to rest upon a slab, comprising:
- a top and walls extending downward from said top,
- a radiant heater, and
- a thermostat to control said radiant heater.
- 44. Apparatus for protecting a fluid conveying device in fluid communication with valves and piping, said apparatus adapted to rest upon a slab and said piping adapted to extend through the slab, comprising:
- a top and walls extending downward from the top, and
- a sleeve extending into the slab, said sleeve being distinct from the piping extending into the slab.
- 45. The apparatus of claim 44 wherein said sleeve extends below the lower portion of the slab.
- 46. The apparatus of claim 45 further comprising heat transfer media disposed below the slab.
- 47. The apparatus of claim 45 further comprising an open space below the slab.
- 48. The apparatus of claim 44 wherein said sleeve extends to the frost line.
- 49. The apparatus of claim 44 further comprising a heater, said heater being placed within said sleeve.
