Claims
- 1. A method for saving the battery power in a mobile device during a cell updating procedure in a wireless communication system; wherein the mobile device using a plurality of timers to monitor its internal operations and the mobile device entering an idle mode when both of a first timer and a second timer expired, wherein the method comprising the steps of:
at the receiver:
determining a trigger event happened in a particular state of the mobile device, then performs steps a-d;
a. if both the first timer and the second timer are not running,
releasing all radio resources; and entering an idle mode; b. assigning the running timer as the first timer and the other one as the second timer, in case of both timers are running, randomly assigning one timer as the first timer and the other as the second one; c. if both timers are running,
if both timers have associating RAB, starting both timers; if the first timer has no associating RAB and the second timer has at least one associating RAB, starting the second timer; if the second timer has no associating RAB and the first timer has at least one associating RAB, starting the first timer; and if both timers have no associating RAB, starting the timer has been used for only RRC connection exists; d. if only one timer is running,
if the first timer has at least one associating RAB and the second timer has no associating RAB, starting the first timer; if both timers have associating RAB, releasing all RABs associating with the second timer; and starting the first timer; if both timers have no RAB associating with, triggering a corresponding action; if the first timer has no associating RAB and the second timer has at least one associating RAB, releasing all RABs associating with the second timer; and triggering a corresponding action.
- 2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the trigger event happened is when the radio link failure happens in CELL_DCH state.
- 3. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the trigger event happened is when a radio link control unrecoverable error happens in CELL_DCH state.
- 4. The method as claimed in claim 2, wherein triggering a corresponding action further comprises starting the first timer.
- 5. The method as claimed in claim 2, wherein triggering a corresponding action further comprises the steps of:
if the second timer is not the timer used for only RRC connection exists, starting the first timer; and if the second timer is the timer used for only RRC connection exists,
releasing all radio resources; and entering an idle mode.
- 6. The method as claimed in claim 3, wherein triggering a corresponding action further comprises starting the first timer.
- 7. The method as claimed in claim 3, wherein triggering a corresponding action further comprises the steps of:
if the second timer is not the timer used for only RRC connection exists, starting the first timer; and if the second timer is the timer used for only RRC connection exists,
releasing all radio resources; and entering an idle mode.
- 8. A receiver for saving the battery power in a mobile device during a cell updating procedure in a wireless communication system; wherein the mobile device using a plurality of timers to monitor its internal operations and the mobile device entering an idle mode when both of two particular timers expired, wherein the receiver comprising:
means for determining a trigger event happened in a particular state of the mobile device; if both the first timer and the second timer are not running, means for releasing all radio resources; and means for entering an idle mode; means for assigning the running timer as the first timer and the other one as the second timer, in case of both timers are running, randomly assigning one timer as the first timer and the other as the second one; if both timers are running,
if both timers have associating RAB, means for starting both timers; if the first timer has no associating RAB and the second timer has at least one associating RAB, means for starting the second timer; if the second timer has no associating RAB and the first timer has at least one associating RAB, means for starting the first timer; and if both timers have no associating RAB, means for starting the timer has been used for only RRC connection exists; if only one timer is running,
if the first timer has at least one associating RAB and the second timer has no RAB associating, means for starting the first timer; if both timers have associating RAB, means for releasing all RABs associating with the second timer; and means for starting the first timer; if both timers have no RAB associating with, means for triggering a corresponding action; if the first timer has no associating RAB and the second timer has at least one RAB associating, means for releasing all RABs associating with the second timer; and means for triggering a corresponding action.
- 9. The receiver as claimed in claim 86, wherein the trigger event happened is when the radio link failure happens in CELL_DCH state.
- 10. The receiver as claimed in claim 86, wherein the trigger event happened is when a radio link control unrecoverable error happens in CELL_DCH state.
- 11. The receiver as claimed in claim 9, wherein means for triggering a corresponding action further comprises means for starting the first timer.
- 12. The receiver as claimed in claim 97, wherein means for triggering a corresponding action further comprising:
if the second timer is not the timer used for only RRC connection exists, means for starting the first timer; and if the second timer is the timer used for only RRC connection exists,
means for releasing all radio resources starting first timer; and means for releasing all radio resources and entering an idle mode.
- 13. The receiver as claimed in claim 108, wherein means for triggering a corresponding further comprising:
if the second timer is not the timer used for only RRC connection exists, means for starting the first timer; and if the second timer is the timer used for only RRC connection exists,
means for releasing all radio resources starting first timer; and means for releasing all radio resources and entering an idle mode.
- 14. The receiver as claimed in claim 10, wherein means for triggering a corresponding action further comprises means for starting the first timer.
