Abstract
An equipment hanging device suitable for hanging equipment along trees or any other suitable vertical structure from bears or any other scavenging wildlife is presented. The equipment hanging device contains a hanger body, a hanging element, a plurality of mounting elements, and a mounting channel. The hanger body contains a first end and a second end. The first end and the second end are terminally positioned opposite to each other along the hanger body. The hanging element is connected adjacent to the first end. The plurality of mounting elements is distributed about the hanger body. The mounting channel traverses from the second end to the first end.
Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to hanging devices. More specifically, the present invention relates to equipment hanging devices suitable for outdoor camping.


BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Experienced campers and backpackers commonly store all of their food in a bag and then use a rope or cord to suspend the bag from a high tree limb out of reach of deer, bears, and other animals. For safety reasons, the tree picked for this function is usually located somewhat removed from the sleeping place of the campers so that animals attracted by the scent of the food will not endanger the sleeping campers. The bag is typically hung in the tree by first tying the free end of the cord to a heavy object, such as a rock or piece of wood and then throwing the weighted cord over a tree limb. Then the bag is hoisted, and the free end of the cord tied to a lower branch or around the trunk of the tree. This procedure is awkward and time consuming since it is difficult to accurately throw the weighted cord around the chosen tree limb, especially after dark, the typical time of performing this operation. Therefore, it is an objective of the present invention to provide an easier and more convenient means of hanging stored food.


The present invention is a hanging device suitable for storing and hanging food articles such that bears, deer, or any other wildlife are out of reach. The present invention features multiple attachment points and attachment media for removably mounting multiple backpacks or any other suitable article along the present invention. Additionally, the present invention utilizes a pole member, such as, but not limited to hiking poles to allow the user to place the present invention along a tree branch, eliminating the need to throw a weighted cord. Additionally, the present invention provides cost effective and compact means to hang food articles along a tree or any other vertical structure. Finally, the present invention features a modular design that fits for various methods of hanging food articles or any other objects along a tree or any other vertical structure. One such method includes utilizing two units of the present invention, where one unit is hanged along one tree, while the other unit is hanged along the other tree. In this configuration, a cord may be connected along the two units to create a suspension line between the two trees suitable for hanging food articles, backpacks, or any other suitable article.


SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention is an equipment hanging device suitable for hanging equipment along trees or any other suitable vertical structure from bears or any other scavenging wildlife. The equipment hanging device comprises a hanger body, a hanging element, a plurality of mounting elements, and a mounting channel. The hanger body comprises a first end and a second end. The first end and the second end are terminally positioned opposite to each other along the hanger body. The hanging element is connected adjacent to the first end. The plurality of mounting elements is distributed about the hanger body. The mounting channel traverses from the second end to the first end.

In reference to FIGS. 1-3, the present invention is an equipment hanging device 1 suitable for hanging equipment along trees or any other suitable vertical structure from bears or any other scavenging wildlife. The equipment hanging device 1 comprises a hanger body 11, a hanging element 12, a plurality of mounting elements 13, and a mounting channel 14. The hanger body 11 comprises a first end 111 and a second end 112. The first end 111 and the second end 112 are terminally positioned opposite to each other along the hanger body 11. The hanging element 12 is connected adjacent to the first end 111. The plurality of mounting elements 13 is distributed about the hanger body 11. The mounting channel 14 traverses from the second end 112 to the first end 111. In the preferred embodiment, the hanger body 11 takes the form of any suitable structural chassis suitable for securing the components that constitutes the equipment hanging device 1. In the preferred embodiment, the hanger body 11 takes the form of structural tubing cut at any preferred length but may take the form of any other suitable material. In the preferred embodiment, the hanger body 11 is made out of any suitable material, such as, but not limited to aluminum, PVC, fiberglass, polymer, steel, carbon fiber, or any other suitable material. In the preferred embodiment, the hanging element 12 takes the form of any suitable hanging implement attached along the hanger body 11 that allows the user to hang the hanger body 11 along a tree or any other suitable vertical structure. In the preferred embodiment, the hanger body 11 takes the form of any suitable hanging implement, such as, but not limited to hooks, clasps, clamps, mounting brackets, straps, or any other suitable hanging implement. In the preferred embodiment, the plurality of mounting elements 13 takes the form of any suitable mounting implement that allows the user to attach equipment articles to the hanger body 11. Equipment articles include any suitable equipment article, such as, but not limited to backpacks, camping gear, coolers, lunchboxes, bottles, or any other suitable equipment article. In the preferred embodiment, the plurality of mounting elements 13 takes the form of any suitable mounting implement, such as, but not limited to mounting rings, hooks, clasps, connectors, tie-downs, or any other suitable mounting implement. In the preferred embodiment, the mounting channel 14 takes the form of a receiving element that allows the user to insert a pole member along the receiving element such that the user can hang the present invention along a tree branch, or any elevated portion that can receive the hanging element 12. More specifically, the pole member takes the form of any suitable pole member, such as, but not limited to hiking poles, tree branches, telescopic poles, or any other suitable pole member. In the preferred embodiment, the mounting channel 14 takes the form of a circular channel traversing from the second end 112 to the first end 111, where the mounting channel 14 is configured to receive the pole member such that the user can insert the pole member along the mounting channel 14 to raise the hanger body 11 and mount the hanging element 12 along the tree branch or any other suitable mounting structure.


In reference to FIGS. 1-3, the hanger body 11 further comprises a first mounting aperture 113. The first mounting aperture 113 traverses through the hanger body 11. The first mounting aperture 113 is positioned adjacent to the first end 111. The hanging element 12 is connected adjacent to the first end 111 through the first mounting aperture 113. In the preferred embodiment, the first mounting aperture 113 allows the hanging element 12 to connect to the hanger body 11. In the preferred embodiment, the hanging element 12 takes the form of any suitable and durable material, such as looped through the first mounting aperture 113, where the durable material is bent and twisted into a hook. In various embodiments, the hanging element 12 may take the form of a solid hook piece crimped, fixed, or fastened in place along the first end 111 of the hanger body 11. In another embodiment, the hanging element 12 takes the form of a solid hook piece that is crimped and riveted in placed along the first end 111, as shown in FIG. 4. In the preferred embodiment, the hanging element 12 is made out of any suitable material, such as, but not limited metal, plastic, or any other suitable material.


In reference to FIGS. 1-3, the hanger body 11 further comprises a plurality of second mounting apertures 114. The plurality of second mounting apertures 114 traverses through the hanger body 11. The plurality of mounting apertures is distributed about the hanger body 11. The plurality of mounting elements 13 is connected along the plurality of mounting apertures.


In reference to FIGS. 1-3, the hanging element 12 comprises a connection end 121 and a hook body 122. The connection end 121 is connected adjacent to the first end 111. The hook body 122 is connected terminally adjacent to the connection end 121, opposite to the first end 111. More specifically, the connection end 121 is connected adjacent to the first mounting aperture 113. The hook body 122 is connected terminally adjacent to the connection end 121, opposite to the first end 111. In the preferred embodiment, the connection end 121 takes the form of a looped style connection along the first mounting aperture 113 but may take the form of any other suitable connection. In the preferred embodiment, the hook body 122 takes the form of a J-shaped hook member that allows the user to mount the hanging element 12 along any suitable mounting member, such as, but not limited to tree branches, cliff rocks, hanging lines, or any other suitable mounting member.


In reference to FIGS. 1-3, the plurality of mounting elements 13 comprises a first mounting element 131. The first mounting element 131 is connected adjacent to the tube body. The plurality of mounting elements 13 further comprises a second mounting element 132. The second mounting element 132 is connected adjacent to the first mounting element 131. The plurality of mounting elements 13 further comprises a third mounting element 133. The third mounting element 133 is connected adjacent to the first mounting element 131. In another configuration, the third mounting element 133 is connected adjacent to the second mounting element 132. In the preferred embodiment, the first mounting element 131 is a mounting ring, but may take the form of any other suitable mounting element. In the preferred embodiment, the second mounting element 132 is a carabiner clip, but may take the form of any other suitable mounting element. In the preferred embodiment, the third mounting element 133 is a pulley style hanger. In the preferred embodiment, the first mounting element 131, second mounting element 132, and the third mounting element 133 are configured to connect and arrange into any combination or configuration the user desires.


Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.

Claims
  • 1. An equipment hanging device comprising: a hanger body;a hanging element;a plurality of mounting elements;a mounting channel;the hanger body comprising a first end and a second end;the first end and the second end being terminally positioned opposite to each other along the hanger body;the hanging element being connected adjacent to the first end;the plurality of mounting elements being distributed about the hanger body; andthe mounting channel traversing from the second end to the first end.

The equipment hanging device as claimed in claim 1 comprising: the hanger body further comprising a first mounting aperture;the first mounting aperture traversing through the hanger body;the first mounting aperture being positioned adjacent to the first end; andthe hanging element being connected adjacent to the first end through the first mounting aperture.
  • 3. The equipment hanging device as claimed in claim 2 comprising: the hanger body further comprising a plurality of second mounting apertures;the plurality of second mounting apertures traversing through the hanger body;the plurality of mounting apertures being distributed about the hanger body; andthe plurality of mounting elements being connected along the plurality of mounting apertures.
  • 4. The equipment hanging device as claimed in claim 1 comprising: the hanging element comprising a connection end and a hook body;the connection end being connected adjacent to the first end; andthe hook body being connected terminally adjacent to the connection end, opposite to the first end.
  • 5. The equipment hanging device as claimed in claim 2 comprising: the hanging element comprising a connection end and a hook body;the connection end being connected adjacent to the first mounting aperture; andthe hook body being connected terminally adjacent to the connection end, opposite to the first end.
  • 6. The equipment hanging device as claimed in claim 1 comprising: the plurality of mounting elements comprising a first mounting element; andthe first mounting element being connected adjacent to the tube body.
  • 7. The equipment hanging device as claimed in claim 6, wherein the first mounting element is a mounting ring.
  • 8. The equipment hanging device as claimed in claim 6 comprising: the plurality of mounting elements further comprising a second mounting element; andthe second mounting element being connected adjacent to the first mounting element.
  • 9. The equipment hanging device as claimed in claim 8, wherein the second mounting element is a carabiner clip.
  • 10. The equipment hanging device as claimed in claim 6 comprising: the plurality of mounting elements further comprising a third mounting element; andthe third mounting element being connected adjacent to the first mounting element.
  • 11. The equipment hanging device as claimed in claim 6 comprising: the plurality of mounting elements further comprising a third mounting element; andthe third mounting element being connected adjacent to the second mounting element.
  • 12. The equipment hanging device as claimed in claim 9, wherein the third mounting element is a pulley style hanger.
  • 13. The equipment hanging device as claimed in claim 10, wherein the third mounting element is a pulley style hanger.
