Claims
- 1. The method of forming a tetrahaloterephthalic acid ester which comprises reacting a diacylium sulfate complex of a tetrahaloterephthalic acid with a hydroxy compound.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein said hydroxy compound is a glycol and a polyester is formed.
- 3. The process of claim 1, wherein the moiety of said complex is tetrabromoterephthalic acid.
- 4. The process of claim 1, wherein the acid moiety of said complex is tetrachloroterephthalic acid.
- 5. The process of claim 1, wherein said hydroxy compound is a monohydroxy compound.
- 6. The process of claim 5, wherein said monohydroxy compound is an alcohol containing from 1-24 carbon atoms.
- 7. The process of claim 5, wherein said monohydroxy compound is an aromatic hydroxy compound containing 6-24 carbon atoms.
