Claims
- 1. A process for augmenting or enhancing the aroma or taste of a consumable material selected from the group consisting of perfume compositions, perfumed articles, colognes, foodstuffs, chewing gums, chewing tobaccos, medicinal products, toothpastes, smoking tobaccos and smoking tobacco articles comprising the step of adding to said consumable material an aroma or taste augmenting or enhancing quantity of at least one ether carbinol defined according to structure: ##STR183## wherein X.sub.1 is a moiety selected from the group consisting of: ##STR184## and wherein Y.sub.1 is a moiety selected from the group consisting of: C.sub.4 -C.sub.5 alkylene;
- C.sub.4 -C.sub.5 alkenylene; and
- C.sub.4 -C.sub.5 alkynylene.
- 2. The process of claim 1 wherein the consumable material is a foodstuff.
- 3. The process of claim 1 wherein the consumable material is a perfume composition or cologne.
- 4. The process of claim 1 wherein the consumable material is a perfumed article and the perfumed article is a solid or liquid anionic, cationic, nonionic or zwitterionic detergent.
- 5. The process of claim 1 wherein the consumable material is a perfumed article and the perfumed article is a perfumed polymer.
- 6. The process of claim 1 wherein the consumable material is a perfumed article and the perfumed article is a fabric softener composition or a fabric softener article.
- 7. The process of claim 1 wherein the consumable material is a smoking tobacco or smoking tobacco article.
- 8. The process for augmenting or enhancing the aroma or taste of a consumable material selected from the group consisting of perfume compositions, perfumed articles, colognes, foodstuffs, chewing gums, toothpastes, medicinal products, chewing tobaccos, smoking tobaccos and smoking tobacco articles comprising the step of adding to said consumable material a mixture of ether carbinols produced according to the process comprising the step of adding to camphene defined according to the structure: ##STR185## a diol defined according to the structure: ##STR186## thereby effecting the reaction: ##STR187##
- 9. A process for augmenting or enhancing the aroma or taste of a consumable material selected from the group consisting of foodstuffs, chewing gums, toothpastes, medicinal products, chewing tobaccos, perfumes, colognes, perfumed articles, smoking tobaccos and smoking tobacco articles comprising the step of adding to said consumable material an aroma or taste augmenting or enhancing quantity of at least one of the ether aldehyde having a structure selected from the group consisting of: ##STR188##
