Claims
- 1. An aromatic polyamide resin consisting essentially of repeating units having the following structural formula: ##STR11## wherein Ar is a divalent aromatic radical having the general formula: ##STR12## wherein Z is selected from the group consisting of --CH.sub.2 --, --CO--, --S--, --O--, and --SO.sub.2 --; ##STR13## wherein R is a C.sub.1 to C.sub.3 alkyl radical.
- 2. The resin of claim 1 wherein Ar is ##STR14##
- 3. The resin of claim 1 wherein Ar is ##STR15## and Ar' is phenyl.
- 4. An aromatic polyamide resin consisting essentially of repeating units having the following structural formula: ##STR16## wherein Ar is a divalent aromatic radical having the general formula ##STR17## wherein Z is selected from the group consisting of --CH.sub.2 --, --CO--, --S--, --O--, and --SO.sub.2 --;
- and wherein Ar' is a monovalent aromatic radical selected from the group consisting of ##STR18## wherein R is a C.sub.1 to C.sub.3 alkyl radical.
- 5. The resin of claim 4 wherein Ar is ##STR19##
- 6. The resin of claim 4 wherein Ar is ##STR20## and Ar' is phenyl.
