Claims
- 1. A compound of the formula ##STR3## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
- R is cyano or lower alkyl sulfinyl; and
- R.sub.2 is halo, nitro, lower alkyl, amino, or mono- or di-lower alkylamino.
- 2. The compound according to claim 1 in which
- R.sub.1 is lower alkyl;
- R is lower alkyl sulfinyl; and
- R.sub.2 is di-lower alkylamino.
- 3. The compound of claim 1 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is cyano; and
- R.sub.2 is nitro.
- 4. The compound of claim 1 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is methyl sulfinyl; and
- R.sub.2 is fluoro.
- 5. A compound of the formula ##STR4## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
- R is halo, nitro, or halo lower alkyl; and
- R.sub.2 is halo, nitro, lower alkyl, amino, or mono- or di-lower alkylamino.
- 6. The compound of claim 5 in which
- R.sub.1 is lower alkyl;
- R is halo; and
- R.sub.2 is di-lower alkylamino.
- 7. The compound of claim 5 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is chloro; and
- R.sub.2 is dimethylamino.
- 8. The compound of claim 5 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is bromo; and
- R.sub.2 is dimethylamino.
- 9. The compound of claim 5 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is nitro; and
- R.sub.2 is dimethylamino.
- 10. The compound of claim 5 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is fluoro; and
- R.sub.2 is dimethylamino.
- 11. A compound of the formula ##STR5## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
- R is cyano or lower alkyl sulfinyl; and
- R.sub.2 is lower alkoxy.
- 12. The compound of claim 11 in which
- R.sub.1 is lower alkyl;
- R is lower sulfinyl; and
- R.sub.2 is lower alkoxy.
- 13. The compound of claim 11 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is methyl sulfinyl; and
- R.sub.2 is methoxy.
- 14. A method for the relief of inflammation in a patient which comprises the administration thereto of a therapeutically effective amount between 0.5 mg. to 100 mg. per kg. of body weight per day of a compound of the formula ##STR6## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
- R is cyano or lower alkyl sulfinyl; and
- R.sub.2 is halo, nitro, lower alkyl, amino, or mono- or di-lower alkylamino.
- 15. The method for the relief of inflammation in a patient by administration of a compound according to claim 14 in which
- R.sub.1 is lower alkyl;
- R is lower alkyl sulfinyl; and
- R.sub.2 is di-lower alkylamino.
- 16. The method of the relief of inflammation in a patient by administration of a compound according to claim 14 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is cyano; and
- R.sub.2 is nitro.
- 17. The method of the relief of inflammation in a patient by administration of a compound according to claim 14 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is methyl sulfinyl; and
- R.sub.2 is fluoro.
- 18. A method for the relief of inflammation in a patient which comprises the administration thereto of a therapeutically effective amount between 0.5 mg. to 100 mg. per kg. of body weight per day of a compound of the formula ##STR7## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
- R is halo, nitro, or halo lower alkyl; and
- R.sub.2 is halo, nitro, lower alkyl, amino, or mono- or di-lower alkylamino.
- 19. The method for the relief of inflammation in a patient by administration of a compound according to claim 18 in which
- R.sub.1 is lower alkyl;
- R is halo; and
- R.sub.2 is di-lower alkylamino.
- 20. The method for the relief of inflammation in a patient by administration of a compound according to claim 18 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is chloro; and
- R.sub.2 is dimethylamino.
- 21. The method for the relief of inflammation in a patient by administration of a compound according to claim 18 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is bromo; and
- R.sub.2 dimethylamino.
- 22. The method for the relief of inflammation in a patient by administration of a compound according to claim 18 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is nitro; and
- R.sub.2 is dimethylamino.
- 23. The method for the relief of inflammation in a patient by administration of a compound according to claim 18 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is fluoro; and
- R.sub.2 is dimethylamino.
- 24. A method for the relief of inflammation in a patient which comprises the administration thereto of a therapeutically effective amount between 0.5 mg. to 100 mg. per kg. of body weight per day of a compound of the formula ##STR8## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
- R is cyano or lower alkyl sulfinyl; and
- R.sub.2 is lower alkoxy.
- 25. The method for the relief of inflammation in a patient by administration of a compound according to claim 24 in which
- R.sub.1 is lower alkyl;
- R is lower alkyl sulfinyl; an
- R.sub.2 is lower alkoxy.
- 26. The method for the relief of inflammation in a patient by administration of a compound according to claim 24 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is methyl sulfinyl; and
- R.sub.2 is methoxy.
- 27. A pharmaceutical preparation in dosage unit form suitable for treatment of inflammation, pain or fever comprising a carrier and, as active ingredient, an effective amount of a compound of the formula ##STR9## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
- R is cyano or lower alkyl sulfinyl; and
- R.sub.2 is halo, nitro, lower alkyl, amino, or mono- or di-lower alkylamino.
- 28. The pharmaceutical preparation according to claim 27 in which
- R.sub.1 is lower alkyl;
- R is lower alkyl sulfinyl; and
- R.sub.2 is di-lower alkylamino.
- 29. The pharmaceutical preparation according to claim 27 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is cyano; and
- R.sub.2 is nitro.
- 30. The pharmaceutical preparation according to claim 27 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is methyl sulfinyl; and
- R.sub.2 is fluoro.
- 31. A pharmaceutical preparation in dosage unit form suitable for the treatment of inflammation, pain, or fever comprising a carrier and, as active ingredient, an effective amount of a compound of the formula: ##STR10## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
- R is halo, nitro, or halo lower alkyl; and
- R.sub.2 is halo, nitro, lower alkyl, amino, or mono- or di-lower alkylamino.
- 32. The pharmaceutical preparation according to claim 31 in which
- R.sub.1 is lower alkyl;
- R is halo; and
- R.sub.2 is di-lower alkylamino.
- 33. The pharmaceutical preparation according to claim 31 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is chloro; and
- R.sub.2 is dimethylamino.
- 34. The pharmaceutical preparation according to claim 31 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is bromo; and
- R.sub.2 is dimethylamino.
- 35. The pharmaceutical preparation according to claim 31 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is nitro; and
- R.sub.2 is dimethylamino.
- 36. The pharmaceutical preparation according to claim 31 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is fluoro; and
- R.sub.2 is dimethylamino.
- 37. A pharmaceutical preparation in dosage unit form suitable for the treatment of inflammation, pain or fever comprising a carrier and, as active ingredient, an effective amount of a compound of the formula ##STR11## in which R.sub.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;
- R is cyano or lower alkyl sulfinyl; and
- R.sub.2 is lower alkoxy.
- 38. The pharmaceutical preparation according to claim 37 in which
- R.sub.1 is lower alkyl;
- R is lower alkyl sulfinyl; and
- R.sub.2 is lower alkoxy.
- 39. The pharmaceutical preparation according to claim 37 in which
- R.sub.1 is methyl;
- R is methyl sulfinyl; and
- R.sub.2 is methoxy.
