The present invention relates generally to exercise apparatus, more specifically but not by way of limitation, an exercise apparatus configured for use during practice of yoga, wherein the apparatus of the present invention provides cushioning and impact reduction for parts of the user such as the head and the hands/wrist.
As is known in the art, yoga is a group of physical, mental and practices or disciplines that originated in ancient India, aimed at controlling and stilling the mind. There are a broad variety of the schools of yoga, practices, and goals. Yoga has traditional forms as well as modern methods and all types of yoga are practiced worldwide. The term “yoga” in the Western world often denotes a modern form of hatha yoga and a posture-based physical fitness, stress-relief and relaxation technique consisting largely of the asanas in contrast with traditional yoga, which focuses on meditation and release from worldly attachments.
Yoga was introduced by gurus from India, following the success of Vivekananda's adaptation of yoga without asanas in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, who introduced the Yoga Sutras to the western world. There are numerous types of positions that a user can execute when performing yoga. Poses such as warrior, child pose and many other are routinely engaged in by a user. There are some yoga body positions that require a user to place the crown of their head on the ground which can results in a great deal of pressure thereon. Despite routine use of yoga mats these types of positions can be uncomfortable for users. Additionally, these positions often result in increased pressure on the hands and wrist area.
Accordingly, there is a need for an exercise apparatus configured to assist a user during performance of some yoga positions wherein the apparatus of the present invention reduces the pressure on the crown of the head as well as the hand and wrist area.
It is the object of the present invention to provide an exercise apparatus configured for use during performance of yoga body positions wherein the present invention includes a first member, a second member and a third member.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a yoga exercise apparatus operable to reduce pressure on the crown of the head of a user wherein the first member, second member and third member are identically constructed.
A further object of the present invention is to provide an exercise apparatus configured for use during performance of yoga body positions wherein the present invention includes a body having a central portion and an outer ring portion that are integrally formed.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a yoga exercise apparatus operable to reduce pressure on the crown of the head of a user wherein the body is manufactured from a impact reducing material such as but not limited to EVA foam.
An additional object of the present invention is to provide an exercise apparatus configured for use during performance of yoga body positions wherein the body includes a body that is constructed so as to releasably secure the body to the floor.
Yet a further object of the present invention is to provide a yoga exercise apparatus operable to reduce pressure on the crown of the head of a user wherein the upper surface of the body is concaved inwards towards the central portion.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an exercise apparatus configured for use during performance of yoga body positions wherein the outer ring has a arcuate outer wall and has a thickness that is greater than that of the central portion.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a yoga exercise apparatus operable to reduce pressure on the crown of the head of a user wherein in use the second member and third member are located on opposing sides of the first member.
To the accomplishment of the above and related objects the present invention may be embodied in the form illustrated in the accompanying drawings. Attention is called to the fact that the drawings are illustrative only. Variations are contemplated as being a part of the present invention, limited only by the scope of the claims.

Furthermore, it is also to be understood that the terminology used herein is used for the purpose of describing particular embodiments only, and is not intended to limit the scope of the present invention. It must be noted that as used herein and in the claims, the singular forms “a”, “an” and “the” include the plural reference unless the context clearly dictates otherwise. Thus, for example, a reference to “an element” is a reference to one or more elements and includes equivalents thereof known to those skilled in the art. All conjunctions used are to be understood in the most inclusive sense possible. Thus, the word “or” should be understood as having the definition of a logical “or” rather than that of a logical “exclusive or” unless the context clearly necessitates otherwise. Structures described herein are to be understood also to refer to functional equivalents of such structures. Language that may be construed to express approximation should be so understood unless the context clearly dictates otherwise.
References to “one embodiment”, “an embodiment”, “exemplary embodiments”, and the like may indicate that the embodiment(s) of the invention so described may include a particular feature, structure or characteristic, but not every embodiment necessarily includes the particular feature, structure or characteristic.
Referring in particular to Figures submitted as a part hereof, the exercise apparatus 100 includes a first member 10, second member 30 and third member 40. The third member 40 and second member 30 are identically constructed as that described herein for the first member 10. The second member 30 and third member 40 in a preferred embodiment are the same shape as the first member 10 having a diameter though that is less than that of the first member 10. The second member 30 and third member 40 are sized so as to accommodate a users hand thereon during performance of a headstand or similar yoga position. While the first member 10, second member 30 and third member 40 are illustrated herein as being annular in shape, it is contemplated within the scope of the present invention that the first member 10, second member 30 and third member 40 could be provided in alternate shapes. Discussions hereinafter about the first member 10 should be understood to apply to the second member 30 and third member 40 in regards to the elements and construction thereof.
The first member 10 includes a body 11 that is annular in shape being manufactured from a material that is operable to reduce the pressure on the crown of a users head or the hands and wrist of the user. It should be understood within a preferred embodiment of the present invention that the body 11 is manufactured from a material such as but not limited to EVA foam. The body 11 includes a central portion 12 and an outer ring 13 that are integrally formed.
