- 16. Footwear, comprising:
a foot dressing, and an adjustable inner assembly, disposed within the foot dressing, the inner assembly having a first member and a second member in overlapping engagement with each other and a control to adjust the position of the first member relative to the second member and to thereby adjust a dimension of the inner assembly and thereby a corresponding dimension of the footwear apparatus; an indicator bearing indicia of the adjustable dimension of the inner assembly in fixed relationship with the inner assembly; a visualization window positioned over the indicator so that as a longitudinal dimension of the footwear apparatus is adjusted the indicia on the indicator is moved behind the window; and a light source disposed within the footwear apparatus to illuminate the visualization window.
- 17. The footwear of claim 16 wherein the corresponding dimension of the footwear apparatus is measured in half size increments of longitudinal shoe size.
- 18. Footwear, comprising:
a foot dressing, an adjustable inner assembly, disposed within the foot dressing, the inner assembly having a first member and a second member in overlapping engagement with each other and a cavity containing a control to adjust a dimension of the inner assembly and thereby adjust a dimension of the inner assembly and thereby a corresponding dimension of the footwear apparatus, wherein the control includes
a locking mechanism shaped to engage and hold one of the first and second members; a biasing mechanism to bias the locking mechanism into engagement with one of the first and second members; an urging member having a proximal portion external of the foot dressing and positioned and movable transversely to a longitudinal direction of the footwear apparatus and in transverse alignment with the locking mechanism so that the urging member may be moved transversely to contact and move the locking mechanism out of engagement with one of the first and second members; and a series of contact points on one of the first and second members wherein the locking mechanism has a surface feature to contact one of the contact points in the series to resist relative movement of the first and second members in relation to shoe size, and provide ergonomic sensation.
- 19. The footwear of claim 18 wherein the series of contact points is a set of notches.
- 20. The footwear of claim 18 wherein the contact points are spaced apart to correspond to half size increments of longitudinal shoe size.
- 21. The footwear of claim 19 wherein the surface feature causes a clicking sound when the surface feature is moved from a notch into a valley adjacent the notch to provide ergonomic feedback.
- 22. Footwear, comprising:
a foot dressing; an adjustable assembly contacting at least a portion of the foot dressing, the adjustable assembly having
a first member and a second member in overlapping engagement with each other wherein one of the first and second members has at least one longitudinally extending projection and a control integral to the footwear apparatus to adjust a position of the first member relative to the second member and to thereby adjust a dimension of the adjustable assembly and thereby a corresponding dimension of the footwear apparatus, wherein the control requires only manual, tool-less operation to adjust a dimension of the inner assembly.
- 23. The footwear of claim 22 wherein the corresponding dimension of the footwear apparatus can be controlled for half size increments of longitudinal shoe size.
- 24. The footwear of claim 22 further comprising a sole having at least one cavity to receive the longitudinally extending projection.
- 25. The footwear of claim 24 wherein the longitudinally extending projection and the cavity are cylindrical-shaped.
