Claims
- 1. Apparatus for fire proof cover and an expansion void between first and second building structures, comprising:
- first and second support structures secured to said first and second building structures on respective sides of said expansion void;
- cover means slidably retained to enclose said first and second support structures;
- at least one sheet of stainless steel foil having first and second edges and being of a width at least as great as said expansion void, said foil being secured on opposite first and second edges to the respective first and second building structure;
- first bracket means secured to the first building structure and retaining a portion of said foil; and
- second bracket means secured to the second building structure and consisting of a channel member having a mounting plate and angle edge panels with first spring bracket means secured on said channel member for releasably receiving and retaining the foil second edge.
- 2. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 which further includes;
- at least one sheet of refractory material of a width at least as great as the expansion void, said material being secured to extend between the respective first and second building structures and generally contiguous with said stainless steel foil.
- 3. Apparatus as set forth in claim 1 which further includes:
- rod means secured to form said second edge to enhance retention in said first spring bracket means.
- 4. Apparatus as set forth in claim 2 wherein said refractory material is an alumina-silica blend.
- 5. An article of manufacture for sealingly closing an elongate expansion void of predetermined length and predetermined width, comprising:
- a first flexible sheet of stainless steel foil having dimensions of said predetermined length and greater than said predetermined width with first and second opposite side fold breaks spaced in alignment at said predetermined width and extending first and second opposite side tab portions outward therefrom;
- a second flexible sheet of stainless steel foil having dimensions of said predetermined length and greater than said predetermined width with third and fourth opposite side fold breaks spaced in alignment at said predetermined width and extending third and fourth opposite side tab portions outward therefrom, said first and second flexible sheets of stainless steel being disposed in superposition;
- a sheet of pliable refractory material of said predetermined length and said predetermined width and being retained within said first and second flexible sheets of stainless steel foil between opposite side fold breaks; and
- means securing together the opposite side tab portions of said first and second flexible sheets.
- 6. Apparatus as set forth in claim 5 which is further characterized in that:
- said refractory material is bonded to at least one of the respective first and second stainless steel foil sheets.
- 7. An article as set forth in claim 5 wherein:
- respective opposite side tab portions are each bonded together to provide surfaces for sealed affixture when installed.
- 8. An article as set forth in claim 5 which is further characterized to include:
- a flexible fold in the first and second stainless steel foil sheets and the refractory material along the predetermined length and generally centrally of the predetermined width.
