Abstract
A device constructed of a lightweight plastic or similar material, in a precast molded form, that the user attaches to the shoulder segment of a clothes hanger; adjusting the device allows the hanger to be extended to varying lengths. The device, as designed, is a solution that will prevent an article of clothing, i.e. shirts, sweaters, and fine clothing from developing embarrassing shoulder horns, a.k.a. shoulder nipples, such as those, created by a typical wire hanger when an article of clothing remains hung for an extended time. The device is especially useful for people with wide and broad shoulders, whereby a pair of the device, when placed on a hanger, can be adjusted by sliding the device along the shoulder segment of the hanger, giving the user the option to extend and adjust the hanger to a desired length.
Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The disclosure is the invention of a device that eliminates embarrassing shoulder horns, a.k.a. shoulder nipples on shirts and sweaters created by clothes hangers, whereby eliminating additional ironing, and is especially beneficial for people with wide and broad shoulders.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Many people have their shirts, sweaters, and fine garments dry cleaned, especially corporate and business professionals. In addition, there are many peoples that have wide and broad shoulders. As a result, the most often used hangers in homes are the typically triangular wire hangers, which is slightly squared at the ends and are usually too short for many shirts and sweaters, thereby creating embarrassing shoulder horns. Many people continue to use the standard wire hangers after picking up a garments and clothing from the dry cleaners.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The hanger extension device herein, describes a simple solution to the shoulder horns/nipples problem created by clothes hangers and will eliminate them completely. The invention provided herein, is a simple extension device, that can be attached to the shoulder segment of a clothes hanger, providing an extendable and broader support surface for an article of clothing when extended, and can be adjusted to the user's desired length. By sliding the extension device along the shoulder segment of the hanger, the user can extend the overall length of the hanger to fit any shirt, sweater, or fine garment, beneficial to people with wide and broad shoulders. The concave shoulder portion of the device prevents shoulder horns.

BRIEF DISCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The following drawings are various views of the device; is a depiction of the hanger extension device, in-use position, when attached to an actual clothes hanger. In the illustrations shown:

FIG. 1 is an isometric drawing of the device showing the front view of the design, the right view, the bottom view, and a 3D view is an illustration of the design, as a projection view of the device.

FIG. 2 shows one end of a partially drawn clothes hanger with the device attached to the shoulder segment of the hanger, in the retracted position. The opposite side of the hanger, if it were shown, would mirror the present view drawing.

FIG. 3 shows one end of a partially drawn clothes hanger with the same device attached to the shoulder segment of the hanger in the extended position. Again, the opposite end of the hanger would mirror the present view drawing.

DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE DEVICE

The following is the specification and detail description of the clothes hanger extension device. The invention is a device constructed of lightweight plastic that was shaped from a precast molded form, whereby the user can attach a pair of the device onto the shoulder segment of a clothes hanger and would then adjust the device to a desired length, extending the hanger surface area, so that to prevent an article of clothing from developing shoulder horns. The device is shaped similarly to the contours of the end and shoulder portions of a hanger; comprising of a pair of attachment bodies; each attachment body being an elongated rigid member, refer to as the stem, the device exterior surface having a generally planar front and rear flat panels and is rounded at the top surface edge; the open channel or gap, refers to as the chute, receives and hold, by friction means, to the shoulder segment of the clothes hanger; capable of a slide movement along the hanger; the shoulder portion of the device, also refer to as the foot, has a broader surface, and a concave shape that slide over the end portion of a clothes hanger; the concave shape is designed in a way so that to prevent a garment placed upon the hanger, from developing shoulder horns; the device feature small protrusions near the rear of the chute interior surfaces, provide stability to prevent the device from tilting or falling off the hanger when in the extended position; the device preferably composed of a lightweight rigid material such as molded plastic; the device being substantially as shown and described in FIG. 1, FIG. 2, and FIG. 3; when developed; the device once attached and adjusted, will add an extendable length much greater than a typical clothes hanger.

In FIG. 1 as shown in the front view, is a visible idea of the device. It comprises, of what is referred to as the stem (101), in which the entire linear portion of the device is rounded at the top surface edge (106); the angles (104) are curved at the lower edges, creating continuous connection from the foot (102), to the heel (107), to the rear end portion of the stem (101); also positioned, is the label (105) placement, representing the device brand name and logo, is located on the exterior surfaces of the device; the positioning of what is considered the heel (107), the foot (102), and the toe (108) are shown, gives the design of the device its distinctive look. The right view of the device as shown, is the chute (103), the channel opening, the positioning of the small protrusions (109), the positioning of the labels as placed on exterior surface of the device, and the rounded top edge portion of the stem (101). The bottom view shows the underside opening of the device, and is considered the chute (103), as seen, is a channel that extends the full length; a placement of small protrusions (109) are located on both interior flat surfaces at the rear end of the device; and the label (105) placement is on both sides of the flat exterior surfaces. The 3D view is an illustration of what the device looks like, showing the rounded angles, the rounded top edge of the linear surface, and the label placement.

In FIG. 2 and FIG. 3 the device is shown attached to the shoulder segment (110) of a typical clothes hanger. FIG. 2 shows the device in the retracted position. FIG. 3 shows the device adjusted to the maximum extended position. Small protrusions on the interior channel surfaces, the rear end act as stabilizers, preventing the device from tilting and falling off the hanger when extended to the full position.
