Claims
- 1. A screw extractor tube for use in removing an orthopaedic fastener from a patient through a small incision, comprising:
a. a hollow tube defining a longitudinal axis and having a cylindrical side wall, a lower extremity, and an upper extremity; b. wherein said lower extremity assumes the form of a plane which is approximately perpendicular to said longitudinal axis; c. wherein said upper extremity assumes the form of a plane which is substantially angularly offset from a plane which is perpendicular to said longitudinal axis; and d. wherein said hollow tube is insertable within said small incision with said lower extremity being proximate said orthopaedic fastener, to allow the removal of said orthopaedic fastener through said hollow tube.
- 2. A screw extractor tube for use in removing an orthopaedic fastener from a patient through a small incision, comprising:
a. a hollow tube defining a longitudinal axis and having a cylindrical side wall, a lower extremity, and an upper extremity; b. wherein said lower extremity assumes the form of a plane which is approximately perpendicular to said longitudinal axis; c. wherein said upper extremity assumes the form of a high wall curve, which is furthest from said lower extremity, a first side wall curve, which is closer to said lower extremity than said high wall curve, a low wall curve, which is closer to said lower extremity than said first side wall curve, and a second side wall curve which joins said low wall curve and said high wall curve; and d. wherein said hollow tube is insertable within said small incision with said lower extremity being proximate said orthopaedic fastener, to allow the removal of said orthopaedic fastener through said hollow tube.
- 3. A screw extractor tube for use in removing an orthopaedic fastener from a patient through a small incision, comprising:
a. a hollow tube defining a longitudinal axis and having a cylindrical side wall, a lower extremity, and an upper extremity; b. wherein said lower extremity assumes the form of a plane which is approximately perpendicular to said longitudinal axis; c. wherein said upper extremity is cut by a transverse notch spanning a substantial portion of its circumference; and d. wherein said hollow tube is insertable within said small incision with said lower extremity being proximate said orthopaedic fastener, to allow the removal of said orthopaedic fastener through said hollow tube.
