Claims
- 1. A component track system for anchoring pool covers to the side walls of a pool comprising in combination:
a) an extruded longitudinal cover track having
(i) a top face with a longitudinal anchoring slot and a planar base face (ii) a C-channel with a longitudinal slot opening along an outside side edge of the cover track for capturing and holding a side edge of a pool cover and associated sliders carrying leading (front) edge structures, (iii) a cable return channel with a longitudinal slot opening along an inside side edge of the cover track for receiving and protecting cabling connecting between the sliders/front cover comers and an associated cable reel; and b) an extruded longitudinal side wall channel structure having a top channel side wall with a depending longitudinal land and a flat, bottom channel side wall for receiving a cover track wherein the depending longitudinal land is shaped for snuggly fitting into the longitudinal anchoring slot of the cover track, the side wall channel structure being adapted for and incorporated into the structure of a side wall of the pool; and c) a longitudinal spacer plate adapted for and inserted between flat, bottom channel side wall of the wall channel structure and the planar base face of the cover track for mechanically holding the cover track within the wall channel with its anchoring slot snuggly receiving the depending longitudinal land of the wall channel structure, and d) a coupling plate—radial bearing end pulley assembly fastened at and extending from a distal end of each cover track, for carrying and returning cabling connecting between a slider/front cover corner and an associated cable reel, and e) an extruded end wall channel structure adapted for and incorporated into the structure of a distal end wall of the pool for accommodating the coupling plate—radial bearing end pulley assembly fastened at and extending from the distal end of each cover track.
- 2. The component track system for anchoring pool covers to the side walls of a pool of claim 1 wherein a flat, bottom channel side wall of the extruded longitudinal side wall channel has a plurality of small longitudinal rills on a surface facing the top channel side wall.
- 3. The component track system for anchoring pool covers to the side walls of a pool of claim 1 wherein the depending longitudinal land of the top channel side wall of the extruded longitudinal side wall channel structure has a height (H), the cover track has a thickness (T), the extruded longitudinal side wall channel structure has a width (W) and the longitudinal spacer plate has a thickness (P) where: [(W−T)−H]<<P≦(W−T).
- 4. The component track system for anchoring pool covers to the side walls of a pool of claim 1 wherein the cover track has a width (A) measured between a longitudinal plane vertically bisecting its anchoring slot and its inside side edge, and the extruded longitudinal side wall channel structure has a depth (B) measured between a longitudinal plane vertically bisecting the longitudinal land depending from its top channel side wall and a back channel side wall where:

The component track system for anchoring pool covers to the side walls of a pool of claim 1 wherein the depending longitudinal land of the top channel side wall of the extruded longitudinal side wall channel structure has a height (H), and anchoring slot in the top face of the cover track has a dept (D) where: H<D.
- 6. The component track system for anchoring pool covers to the side walls of a pool of claim 1 wherein the depending longitudinal land of the top channel side wall of the extruded longitudinal side wall channel structure has a height (H), and anchoring slot in the top face of the cover track has a dept (D) where: H>D.
- 7. The component track system for anchoring pool covers to the side walls of a pool of claim 1 wherein the extruded longitudinal side wall channel structure further includes a back channel side wall and an anchoring apron extending co-planer with the flat, bottom channel side wall outward from the back channel side wall.
- 8. The component track system for anchoring pool covers to the side walls of a pool of claim 1 wherein the extruded longitudinal side wall channel structure further includes:
(A) a longitudinal front wall depending vertically from the flat, bottom channel wall, and (B) a longitudinal mounting face extending back ward from the front wall with horizontal surfaces and vertical surfaces adapted to mate with and seat on a top surface of an extruded liner anchor channel structure securing a flexible pool liner to the side walls of the pool.
- 9. The component track system for anchoring pool covers to the side walls of a pool of claim 1 wherein the extruded longitudinal side wall channel structure further includes:
(A) a longitudinal front wall depending vertically from the flat, bottom channel wall, and (B) a longitudinal pool liner anchor channel extending horizontally backward from the front wall having a horizontal top channel side wall, a vertical, back channel side wall and a horizontal, bottom channel wall with a longitudinal lip comprising upward extending, longitudinal land, and (C) an anchoring apron extending co-planer with the bottom channel side wall of the pool liner anchor channel outward from the back channel side wall pool liner anchor channel.
- 10. The component track system for anchoring pool covers to the side walls of a pool of claim 1 wherein the extruded longitudinal side wall channel structure further includes:
(A) a vertically oriented, longitudinal mounting face for decorations extending upward from the top channel side wall, and (B) a terminating horizontal platform extending horizontally backward from the mounting face.
- 11. The component track system for anchoring pool covers to the side walls of a pool of claim 10 wherein decorations secured to the vertically oriented, longitudinal mounting face extending upward from the top channel side wall comprise a strip of fiber optic material for capturing channeling visible light emitted from a light source along its length, a portion of such captured and channeled light scattering out exterior surfaces of the strip of fiber optic material for illuminating and warning of edges defined by the side walls of a pool.
- 12. The component track system for anchoring pool covers to the side walls of a pool of claim 1 wherein the coupling plate-radial bearing end pulley assembly includes:
(A) an outer annular bearing race having an exterior cylindrical surface with a concave, circumferential groove for receiving, carrying and returning the cabling connecting between a slider/front cover corner and an associated cable reel and an interior cylindrical surface with at least one interior, concave circumferential ball bearing raceway groove for circumferentially aligning and holding a plurality of ball bearings, and (B) an inner annular bearing race coaxially within the outer bearing race, having an exterior cylindrical surface providing at least one ball bearing rolling surface, and an inner cylindrical surface with a helical thread cut into it, and (C) a post integral with perpendicularly extending from a coupling plate, the post being sized and having helical thread cut into around its exterior cylindrical surface for screwing into the inner annular bearing race to secure and position the inner and outer annular bearing races, and (D) means for fastening the coupling plate to the distal end of the cover track positioning the outer annular bearing race spaced from the distal end of the cover track with its exterior concave, circumferential groove aligned with the C-channel and the cable return channel of the cover track.
- 13. The device of claim 12 wherein the exterior cylindrical surface of outer annular bearing race has a radius (r) and the coupling plate has a cheek surface radially surrounding the post of radius at least equal to (r), the radius of the exterior cylindrical surface of outer annular bearing race.
- 14. The device of claim 12 wherein the outer annular bearing race has an axial length (J), the inner annular bearing race has an axial length (K) and the post has an axial length (L) where:

The device of claim 15 wherein the inner annular bearing race has a top end and a bottom end, the bottom end seating on the coupling plate, the top end having means for engaging a tool for rotating the inner annular bearing race facilitating screwing the inner annular bearing race onto and off of the post.
- 16. The device of claim 15 and further including,
e) a cap element shaped for covering the assembly and abutting against a stationary element of the particular mechanical system having a hole drilled through it where the hole axially registers with the fastening receptacle with a helical thread, and f) a cylindrical fastener sized and having helical thread cut into its exterior cylindrical surface for screwing into the fastening receptacle of the inner annular bearing race to secure the cap element in the particular mechanical system covering the assembly.
- 17. The device of claim 14 further including means for preventing rotation of the inner annular bearing race tending to screw the inner annular bearing race off of the post.
- 18. The component track system for anchoring pool covers to the side walls of a pool of claim 12 wherein the coupling plate provides a distal vertical abutment protecting the radial bearing end pulley fastened at the end of the cover track.
