Claims
- 1. An extrusion device including a rotable cylindrical member for extruding a flowable mass onto a moving conveyor and recycling any excess mass, comprising:
- a plurality of nozzles disposed on said rotatable cylindrical member for extruding the flowable mass onto the moving conveyor, each of said nozzles including:
- a top surface having an opening formed therethrough allowing said flowable mass to flow out of said rotatable cylindrical member and onto said moving conveyor; and
- at least one guide surface providing a path to allow excess mass that is not extruded onto said moving conveyor to flow therealong;
- a plurality of valley surfaces formed on said rotatable cylindrical member, said valley surfaces receiving excess mass as said rotatable cylindrical member rotates; whereby as said cylindrical member rotates, said excess mass that gathers in said valley surfaces flows toward said top surface along said at least one guide surface and onto said top surface whereby said excess mass is rejoined with flowable mass flowing out of said nozzles and is extruded onto said moving conveyor.
- 2. The extrusion device of claim 1 wherein each of said nozzles has a frustoconical shape.
- 3. The extrusion device of claim 2 wherein said guide surface of each of said nozzles slopes convergently toward said top surface.
- 4. The extrusion device of claim 1 wherein each of said nozzles has a pyramidal shape.
- 5. The extrusion device of claim 4 wherein each of said nozzles had four surfaces which are generally planar in shape and slope convergently toward said top surface.
- 6. The extrusion device of claim 1 wherein each of said nozzles is formed as a part of said rotatable cylindrical member.
- 7. The extrusion device of claim 1 and further including a plurality of bores formed in said rotatable cylindrical member, and wherein each of said nozzles is disposed within one of said plurality of bores.
- 8. The extrusion device of claim 1 further including a border at each end of said rotatable cylindrical member to prevent any excess mass from flowing off said member.
