Eyeliner Application System

Abstract

An eyeliner application system is provided. The system includes an applicate having a front side opposite a rear side, wherein an adhesive is disposed across the rear side. A dye is impregnated within the adhesive, wherein the dye transfers to a surface upon adhering the applicate to the surface. A backing material is removably securable to the rear side of the applicate. In some embodiments, the dye is heat activated, such that the dye is transferred to the surface upon application of heat across the front side of the applicate. In such embodiments, the system further includes a heating element securable over at least one eye.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to eyeliner application systems. More particularly, the present invention pertains to an adhesive eyeliner applicate impregnated with a dye, such that upon application to an eyelid, the dye is transferred to the eyelid.

Many people use makeup to draw attention to their eyes and enhance their appearance. Typically, eyeliner is applied by hand which can be a time-consuming process to achieve a desired look. As many individuals have a busy lifestyle, they may not be capable of devoting the required time to achieve the desired look. Additionally, many complex and desirable eyeliner patterns can require a significant amount of skill to apply, which may be unobtainable for many individuals without the assistance of a professional. Over time, frequent use of professional assistance in applying eyeliner can lead to significant expense. Many existing eyeliner designs require the use of liquid eyeliner to achieve a blended look, however liquid eyeliner can dry out before the application is completed, which may force the individual to restart the process. Therefore, a system that can allow an individual to apply a variety of eyeliner patterns quickly and easily to an eyelid and the surrounding area is desired.

In light of the devices disclosed in the known art, it is submitted that the present invention substantially diverges in design elements from the known art and consequently it is clear that there is a need in the art for an improvement to existing eyeliner application systems. In this regard, the instant invention substantially fulfills these needs.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types of eyeliner application systems now present in the known art, the present invention provides an eyeliner application system wherein the same can be utilized for providing convenience for the user when applying a variety of eyeliner styles and patterns to an eyelid with a minimal amount of effort and skill.

The present system comprises an applicate having a front side opposite a rear side. An adhesive is disposed across the rear side. A dye is impregnated within the adhesive, wherein the dye is configured to transfer to a surface upon adhering the applicate to the surface. A backing material is removably secured to the rear side. In some embodiments, the dye is heat activated, such that the dye is transferred to the surface upon application of heat across the front side of the applicate. In such embodiments, the system further comprises a heating element securable over at least one eye, wherein the heating element is configured to transmit heat to the applicate to activate the dye.

In some embodiments, the front side comprises a dye impermeable material. In another embodiment, indicia are disposed on the front side, wherein the indicia correspond to a pattern and color of the dye within the adhesive. In other embodiments, the dye is pressure activated, such that the dye is transferred to the surface upon application of pressure across the front side of the applicate. In yet another embodiment, a cutout is disposed through the application. In some embodiments, the cutout is defined entirely within a perimeter of the applicate. In another embodiment, the backing material comprises a sheet having a plurality of applicates removably secured thereto. In other embodiments, the applicate further comprises at least one projection extending therefrom. In yet another embodiment, the heating element is disposed within a pair of goggles having a pair of eye portions. In some embodiments, each eye portion of the pair of goggles includes a heat reflective interior surface such that the heat generated by the heating element is retained within the eye cup.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Reference is made herein to the attached drawings. Like reference numerals are used throughout the drawings to depict like or similar elements of the eyeliner application system. The figures are intended for representative purposes only and should not be considered to be limiting in any respect.

Referring now to FIG. 1, there is shown a perspective view of an embodiment of the eyeliner application system having a plurality of applicates. The eyeliner application system 11 comprises at least one applicate 12 having a front side 13 opposite a rear side (as shown in FIG. 2B, 14), wherein the applicate 12 is removably secured to a backing material 17. In the shown embodiment, the backing material 17 comprises a sheet having a plurality of applicates 12 removably secured thereto. In this embodiment, the plurality of applicates 12 is disposed along a single sheet adhered to the backing material 17, wherein each applicate 12 is formed via cutting the single sheet about a perimeter of each applicate 12. In this way, the perimeter is defined about the pattern formed on the front side 13 of each applicate 12, such that each applicate 12 can comprise a different shape as fitting the style of eyeliner represented by the pattern. For example, in the shown embodiment, the applicates 12 can include additional embellishments and protrusions 21, such as feathering, wings, and decorations, wherein the applicate 12 is cut from the single sheet to include each embellishment and protrusion 21. An adhesive (as shown in FIG. 2B, 15) is disposed across the rear side, allowing the user to secure the applicate 12 to an eyelid surface. The applicates 12 are dimensioned to conform to a perimeter of an eyelid surface, such that the applicate 12 can be secured thereto. A dye (as shown in FIG. 2B, 16) is disposed across the rear side is configured to transfer to the eyelid surface upon application of the applicate 12 thereto. In some embodiments, the front side 13 comprises a material impermeable to the dye, such that dye is not transferred to the user's fingers during the application process. In this manner, the user can quickly and easily apply various patterns and styles of eyeliner to their eyelid while not requiring a significant time or skill investment.

Each of the plurality of applicates 12 comprise indicia disposed on the front side 13, wherein the indicia correspond to a pattern of dye on the rear side thereof. The indicia can comprise a variety of styles and patterns representing desirable eyeliner styles that would otherwise be unobtainable without a significant amount of skill in makeup application or the aid of a professional. As shown in the illustrated embodiment, the applicates 12 are contemplated to comprise a range of complexity, including simple single-color applications, gradients, multicolored designs, and additional designs including embellishments and protrusions 21. In the illustrated embodiment, the applicates 12 are contemplated to further comprise a cutout 19 therethrough, wherein the cutout 19 is defined about an interior of the applicate 12. Similar to the above description, the cutout 19 is defined via cutting the single sheet about a perimeter of the cutout 19 to allow the applicate 12 be removed from the backing material 17. The cutout 19 provides access to the user's eyelid once the applicate 12 is applied thereto. In this manner, the user can utilize the cutout 19 similar to a stencil, allowing the user to manually apply eyeliner to the eyelid within the area of the cutout 19 before removing the applicate 12. In such embodiments, the user is afforded more variety in the color of the eyeliner used to fill in the cutout 19, rather than relying solely on the predetermined dye patterns available with the applicates 12. In the shown embodiment, the cutout 19 is further defined entirely within a perimeter of the applicate 12, such that the applicate 12 comprises a continuous and unbroken border about the cutout 19. In other embodiments, additional cutouts 19 may be defined through the applicate 12 to provide a variety of alternate stencil patterns.

Referring now to FIGS. 2A and 2B, there is shown a front view of an applicate of an embodiment of the eyeliner application system and a rear view of an applicate of an embodiment of the eyeliner application system, respectively. In the illustrated embodiment, a singular applicate 12 is shown. Individual applicates 12 having a backing material 17 removably secured thereto are also contemplated to reduce the form factor of the applicate 12 for ease of transport and storage. The backing material 17 is contemplated to include an interior surface having a release material thereon, such as wax, to prevent the dye 16 or adhesive 15 from being retained on the backing material 17. Similar to the embodiment described above, the applicate 12 includes a front side 13 having indicia 18 thereon, wherein the indicia 18 corresponds to the pattern and color of dye 16 disposed across the rear side 14 of the applicate 12. In this manner, the indicia 18 serves as a preview of the pattern to be applied to the user's eyelid upon application of the applicate 12. The dye 16 is dispersed through the adhesive 15 such that the dye 16 is transferrable to the eyelid once the applicate 12 is affixed thereto. In some embodiments, the dye 16 is dispersed through the adhesive 15 such that upon removal of the applicate 12 from the user's eyelid, the dye 16 remains upon the eyelid. In alternate embodiments, the dye 16 is pressure activated, such that the user must apply pressure to the front side 13 of the applicate 12 to transfer the dye 16 to the eyelid. In such embodiments, the user may reseat the applicate 12 on the eyelid to ensure the applicate 12 is properly positioned without transferring the dye 16 to the eyelid upon removal of the applicate 12. In another embodiment, the dye 16 is heat activated, such that the dye 16 transfers to the eyelid upon the application of heat to the front side 13 of the applicate 12. Similar to the above, this prevents the dye 16 from being transferred to the user's eyelid until the applicate 12 is properly positioned. The heat activated dye 16 further prevents dye 16 transfer due to pressures applied during the removal and reseating process that may occur in embodiments utilizing a pressure activated dye 16.

Referring now to FIG. 3, there is shown a perspective view of the pair of heated goggles of an embodiment of the eyeliner application system. In the shown embodiment, a pair of goggles 23 are provided for application over the user's eyes, wherein the pair of goggles 23 include a heating element 22 therein. The heating element 22 is configured to transfer heat to the user's eyelid, thereby activating the dye to transfer to the applied eyelid. In the shown embodiment, a separate heating element 22 is disposed in each eye portion 24 of the pair of goggles 23, such that heat can be simultaneously applied to a pair of applicates. In some embodiments, an interior surface of each eye portion 24 comprises a heat reflective material configured to retain heat generated by the heating element 22 within each eye portion 24. In this manner, heat loss through the eye portions 24 is minimized to reduce the length of time required to apply sufficient heat to the applicate to transfer the dye. In the shown embodiment, each eye portion 24 comprises a series of sidewalls extending from a front surface, wherein the sidewalls rest flush against a user's ocular area when worn to further reduce heat loss through the eye portions 24. In some embodiments, a strap is affixed to the pair of goggles 23 to secure the pair of goggles 23 to the user's face. In the illustrated embodiment, the heating element 22 extends along an entirety of a perimeter of each eye portion 24, such that heat generated by the heating element 22 is evenly distributed throughout the eye portion 24. Alternatively, in other embodiments, the heating element 22 may be disposed along an upper edge of each eye portion 24 to direct the heat generated thereby to the eyelid of the user. In some embodiments, an activation control is disposed on the pair of goggles 23, wherein the activation control selectively activates and deactivates the heating element 22. In other embodiments, the activation control is a pressure switch disposed along a distal end of the sidewalls of each eye portion 24, such that the heating element 22 is activated upon application over the user's eyes.

In one use, the user selects a desired style of eyeliner to apply from the available applicates. Once the desired style is selected, the applicate can be removed from the backing material and adhered to the user's eyelid. In embodiments wherein the applicate includes a cutout therethrough, the user can further apply eyeliner to the eyelid through the cutout. Once complete, the dye disposed along the rear side can be transferred to the eyelid via an appropriate method associated with the dye. For example, in some embodiments, the dye is transferred upon application, such that once the applicate is removed, the dye is removed. Alternatively, the dye can be pressure activated, such that the user must apply pressure to a front side of the applicate to ensure the dye is transferred to the eyelid. Finally, in some embodiments, the dye is heat activated, such that the user must apply heat to the applicate to transfer the dye to the user's eyelid. In such embodiments, the user can place the pair of goggles 23 having a heating element 22 therein over their eyes and activate the heating element 22. Alternatively, other heat sources can be utilized. Once the dye is properly transferred, the user can remove the applicate from the eyelid, leaving the desired style and pattern of dye. In this manner, a user can easily and efficiently apply eyeliner in a variety of styles and complexities with minimal effort or makeup application skills.

It is therefore submitted that the instant invention has been shown and described in various embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art. With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of the invention, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly, and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by the present invention.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention.

Claims

1. An eyeliner application system, comprising: an applicate having a front side opposite a rear side;an adhesive disposed across the rear side;a dye impregnated within the adhesive;wherein the dye is configured to transfer to a surface upon adhering the applicate to the surface;a backing material removably securable to the rear side.

2. The eyeliner application system of claim 1, wherein the front side comprises a dye impermeable material.

3. The eyeliner application system of claim 1, further comprising indicia on the front side, wherein the indicia correspond to a pattern and color of the dye within the adhesive.

4. The eyeliner application system of claim 1, wherein the dye is pressure activated such that the dye is transferred to the surface upon application of pressure across the front side of the applicate.

5. The eyeliner application system of claim 1, wherein the dye is heat activated, such that the dye is transferred to the surface upon application of heat across the front side of the applicate.

6. The eyeliner application system of claim 1, further comprising a cutout through the applicate.

7. The eyeliner application system of claim 6, wherein the cutout is defined entirely within a perimeter of the applicate.

8. The eyeliner application system of claim 1, wherein the backing material comprises a sheet having a plurality of applicates removably secured thereto.

9. The eyeliner application system of claim 1, wherein the applicate further comprises at least one projection extending therefrom.

10. An eyeliner application system, comprising: an applicate having a front side opposite a rear side;an adhesive disposed across the rear side;a dye impregnated within the adhesive;wherein the dye is heat activated, such that the dye is transferred to a surface upon application of heat across the front side of the applicate;a backing material removably securable to the rear side;a heating element securable over at least one eye;wherein the heating element is configured to transmit heat to the applicate adhered to the surface to activate the dye.

11. The eyeliner application system of claim 10, wherein the front side comprises a dye impermeable material.

12. The eyeliner application system of claim 10, further comprising indicia on the front side, wherein the indicia correspond to a pattern and color of the dye within the adhesive.

13. The eyeliner application system of claim 10, wherein the dye is pressure activated such that the dye is transferred to the surface upon application of pressure across the front side of the applicate.

14. The eyeliner application system of claim 10, further comprising a cutout through the applicate.

15. The eyeliner application system of claim 14, wherein the cutout is defined entirely within a perimeter of the applicate.

16. The eyeliner application system of claim 10, wherein the backing material comprises a sheet having a plurality of applicates removably secured thereto.

17. The eyeliner application system of claim 10, wherein the applicate further comprises at least one projection extending therefrom.

18. The eyeliner application system of claim 10, wherein the heating element is disposed within a pair of goggles having a pair of eye portions.

19. The eyeliner application system of claim 18, wherein each eye portion of the pair of goggles include a heat reflective interior surface such that the heat generated by the heating element is retained within the eye portion.
