The present invention pertains to the field of hair brushes and more specifically to the field of specialized hair brushes and hair rollers.
The prior art has put forth several designs for specialized hair brushes. Among these are:
U.S. Pat. No. 6,029,307 to Thomas Baudoin describes a quick connect brush handle and multi-brush kit comprising a kit for aiding in the drying and curling of hair having a plurality of brushes which may be twisted into the hair and allowed to remain for a period of time to set a curl.
U.S. Pat. No. 6,502,585 to Gino Mazel describes a hairstyling device having coupling and interchangeable heads comprising a handle member and a plurality of heads ad a coupling means for removably connecting the heads to the handle member.
U.S. Pat. No. 7,296,580 to Donna Sbardella describes a hair styling apparatus comprising a plurality of hair curlers having means for engaging a hair curling appliance having a handle equipped with means for engaging and disengaging the curlers.
None of these prior art references describe the present invention.
It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved hair curling device comprising a handle having a removable curler which creates the barrel of the brush.
For thousands of years, men and women alike have curled their hair as a means of improving their physical appearance and in many cases, connoting their social status. In ancient Rome, a calamistrum; a hollow instrument made of iron, was heated in wood ash and used to stylishly curl the hair of Roman generals, the wealthy ruling class, middle class matrons and Roman youth. In ancient Egypt, the shaved heads of men and women were covered in heavy, curled black wigs that were elaborately adorned with gold and lapis hairpins and in later times, the curled, powdered wigs of aristocratic Frenchmen and women were all the rage. By the 19th century, an interest in business and commerce drew men away from the vain pursuit of intricate hairstyles and the practice of curling the hair became relegated to the female sex. As such, women began experimenting with a myriad of different ways to curl the hair. Perhaps most popular was the practice of wrapping the wet hair around fabric rags in order to create long-lasting and bouncy curls. Other methods involved heating slate pens over an open fire and wrapping the hair around the shaft. In the early 20th century, bobby pins were used to create elegant pin curls and the eventual introduction of metal, plastic and sponge curlers enabled women to curl their hair in a more comfortable and expeditious manner.
Having recognized the vast popularity and timelessness of curling the hair, as well as the vast market potential for a new and unique curler designs, the present invention, hereinafter referred to as the E-Z Roller was developed. Simply stated, the E-Z Roller is a specially designed hair brush boasting a removable curler which is easily applied to the end of the brush, thus enabling the user to style their hair in a quick and easy fashion. The E-Z Roller measures approximately ten inches in total length, with the handle portion comprising approximately five to six inches of the unit's total length. Similar in appearance and function to a traditional round hair brush, the E-Z Roller comprises an ergonomically designed wooden or plastic handle, on the distal end of which a cylindrical shaped curler is integrally attached. The curler on the end of the brush is designed to freely rotate, with a spring loaded release lever included for use in quickly releasing the attached curler on demand. Curlers to be applied over this brush end are hollow, cylindrical shaped rollers, on the surface which a series of soft fiber bristles for use in gently gripping the hair are integrally attached. As an additional consideration, curlers of various diameters can be configured for use with the E-Z Roller, thus enabling the user to create looser or tighter curlers. Any appropriate clip fastener is also included for use in securing the curler in place. The E-Z Roller is sold as a set, with each unit featuring one brush and six curlers. Additional curlers can also be offered for sale alongside the unit.
Use of the E-Z Roller is very simple and straight forward. Press the lock and release button on the handle. Attach a curler to the handle. Curl the hair as usual. When finished, press the lock and release button to release the curler from the handle. Secure the curler to the hair by any suitable means. This unique hair brush can be utilized in the traditional manner; to manually brush and style the hair, or the user can utilize the detachable curlers to create beautiful waves and curls. In the case of the latter, the user simply slides a curler over the E-Z Roller's brush end. The user then sections off a portion of the hair, brushing it through the wet or damp hair and turning the handle in order to wrap the hair around the actual curler. Utilizing the integrated release lever, the user then releases the curler and if necessary, applies a hair clip to secure the curler in place. This process is then repeated until all the hair has been curled. The user might then employ a handheld or stationary dryer to dry the hair, or the curlers can then be left in place until the hair dries naturally. After the curls have set, the user then removes E-Z Roller curlers, allowing the loose, buoyant curl created by the E-Z Roller to gently cascade onto or over their shoulders. The user might then apply a hairspray or similar styling product and head out to greet the day!
There are many significant benefits and advantages associated with the E-Z Roller. Foremost, this cleverly designed hair care accessory provides consumers a simple means of curling the hair. A cleverly designed hair brush boasting an easily applied curler which encompasses the barrel of the brush completely, the E-Z Roller enables consumers to style their hair in a fraction of the time associated with traditional methods. Simply by sliding an individual curler over the E-Z Roller and then applying it to the ends of the hair, the user can create loose, cascading curls without spending a great deal of time doing so manually. Offering a simple method of curling, the hair, use of the E-Z Roller saves time, enabling the user to apply make up, get dressed or even enjoy a relaxing cup of coffee, before heading out to face the day. Well suited for home use, professional stylists and salon owners will also value the convenience the E-Z Roller provides. Specifically, by enabling stylists to curl their client's hair in a quicker and more efficient manner, use of this product results in happier clientele, repeat bookings and increased business.
