FIELD
The present disclosure relates to the field of gift packaging, and in particular to a fabric gift wrap.
BACKGROUND
Conventional paper gift wrap requires scissors, tape, and a certain degree of skill to competently wrap a gift package. This has resulted in a proliferation of paper gift bags being used to present gifts. Although pretty and easy to use, gifts presented in paper gift bags lack a certain sophistication and cachet. Further, conventional wrapping papers are not durable and cannot be easily reused, thus adding to the amount of waste being dumped in landfills.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
FIGS. 1A-1E are illustrations of an exemplary process of using the fabric gift wrap 10 according to the teachings of the present disclosure. The fabric gift wrap 10 includes an elongated tubular piece of stretchable fabric that can be constructed by sewing opposing edges of a substantially rectangular piece of fabric together, or by fabricating using a circular loom, for example. The tubular piece of stretchable fabric 10 can be open at both ends 12 and 14, or only at one end. In FIG. 1B, the open end 14 of the fabric gift wrap is opened to allow the gift package 16 to be admitted inside the fabric tube 10. The gift package 16 can be cubical, rectangular, spherical, elliptical, and irregular in shape, as long as it fits within the space formed by the fabric tube 10. The gift package 16 is positioned within the fabric tube 10, leaving enough lengths of fabric at both ends 12 and 14. As shown in FIG. 1C, if desired, extraneous length(s) at the end may be shortened by using a pair scissors, for example. Pinking shears with a serrated blades, scalloping shears, or scissors that form different patterns as they cut may be used to create a pretty edge at the ends. The two loose ends 12 and 14 may then be brought together and used to tie a conventional knot, as shown in FIGS. 1D and 1E.
FIGS. 2-5 are photographs of exemplary embodiments of the fabric gift wrap being used to wrap gift packages of various sizes and proportions according to the teachings of the present disclosure. As shown in FIGS. 2-5, the two loose ends may be brought together and knotted in the center over the package contained within the fabric tube (FIGS. 2 and 3); one loose end may be brought up to meet the other loose end and knotted over the top of the package (FIG. 4); and each of the two loose ends may be knotted and/or tied separately with ribbons or fabric scrap (FIG. 5). The user may use any type of knot to gather the two ends of the fabric tube, such as square knot, overhand knot, figure eight knot, double carrick bend, double overhand, butterfly, etc.
The fabric tube 10 can be fabricated from any suitable fabric, such as Liverpool knit (a stretch polyester blend double knit), cotton jersey knit, cotton ribbed knit, cotton lycra and cotton spandex knit, cotton interlock knit, French terry knit, hacci sweater knit, sweatshirt fleece, jersey rayon spandex, etc. In another embodiment of the fabric tube, non-stretchable woven or non-woven fabric can be used, if the circumference of the tube is sized so that it adequately fits over the gift package without too much slack. Of course, the fabric gift wrap 10 may have any color scheme, patterns, and graphics incorporated on the fabric. The fabric design may incorporate themes and text according to specific gifting occasions, holidays, cartoon characters, and celebrities. Further, custom lettering and designs may be incorporated in the fabric tube for a special occasion. A number of fabric tubes of different lengths and circumferences may be made available to accommodate gift packages of varying shapes and sizes.

However, modifications, variations, and changes to the exemplary embodiments described above will be apparent to those skilled in the art, and the fabric gift wrap described herein thus encompasses such modifications, variations, and changes and are not limited to the specific embodiments described herein.
