Claims
- 1. A fabric composed of individual man-made fibers wherein at least a portion of said fibers comprises an antimicrobially effective amount of at least one triclosan ester compound, wherein said fabric exhibits a zone of inhibition of at least 1 mm for Staphylococcus aureus after at least 25 standard washing laundry cycles.
- 2. The fabric of claim 1 wherein said triclosan ester derivative is selected from the group consisting essentially of a triclosan acetate, a triclosan propionate, a triclosan benzoate, a triclosan 4-nitrobenzoate, and a triclosan hexanoate.
- 3. The fabric of claim 2 wherein said triclosan ester derivative is a triclosan acetate.
- 4. The fabric of claim 1 wherein said fabric is selected from the group consisting of woven, non-woven, or knit fabrics.
- 5. The fabric of claim 2 wherein said fabric is selected from the group consisting of woven, non-woven, or knit fabrics.
- 6. The fabric of claim 3 wherein said fabric is selected from the group consisting of woven, non-woven, or knit fabrics.
- 7. The fabric of claim 4 wherein said fibers are selected from the group consisting of polyester, polyamide, acetate, polyolefin, acrylic, spandex, and blends thereof.
- 8. The fabric of claim 5 wherein said fibers are selected from the group consisting of polyester, polyamide, acetate, polyolefin, acrylic, spandex, and blends thereof.
- 9. The fabric of claim 6 wherein said fibers are selected from the group consisting of polyester, polyamide, acetate, polyolefin, acrylic, lycra, and blends thereof.
- 10. The fiber of claim 7 wherein said fibers are selected from the group consisting of polyester, polyamide, spandex, and blends thereof.
- 11. The fiber of claim 8 wherein said fibers is selected from the group consisting of polyester, polyamide, spandex, and blends thereof.
- 12. The fiber of claim 9 wherein said fibers are selected from the group consisting of polyester, polyamide, lycra, and blends thereof.
