Claims
- 1. A method for manufacturing a liquid shield to protect the eyes, nose and mouth of a wearer, comprising the steps of:
- forming a mask dimensioned to fit over the mouth and nose of a wearer;
- darkening a top edge of said mask to further reduce the likelihood of reflections;
- fixing a plastic visor to said mask only at the extreme ends thereof to extend over and protect the eyes of the wearer from liquids directed at the eyes from exterior of said visor; and
- forming a cutout approximate the center of said visor adjacent said mask to facilitate the conformance of said mask and said visor to the face of the wearer and to reduce the likelihood of reflections.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of darkening comprises attaching a strip of blackened material to said top edge of said mask.
- 3. A liquid shield to protect the eyes of a wearer, comprising:
- a fluid impervious transparent visor for being affixed over the eyes to protect the eyes of the wearer from liquids directed from exterior said visor;
- a notch in a lower portion of said visor to allow said visor to bend to conform to the face of the wearer without causing creasing of said visor; and
- a fluid impermeable mask connected to said visor only at extreme end corners of said mask and visor thereby permitting said mask and visor to separately conform to the face of the wearer, said mask being located between the face and said visor for protecting the nose and mask of the wearer, said mask including a darkened portion adjacent said visor to reduce the likelihood of reflections.
- 4. The shield of claim 1, wherein said darkened portion comprises a blackened strip of material fixed to said mask.
- 5. A disposable liquid shield, comprising:
- a liquid resistant disposable mask dimensioned to fit over the mouth and nose of a wearer, said mask being resistant to the passage of liquids from exterior the mask;
- a visor dimensioned to cover the eyes of said wearer, said visor fixed to said mask at opposite ends thereof;
- a notch formed in the lower portion of said visor to allow said visor to approximately conform to contours around the wearer's nose without creasing said visor; and
- a blackened strip on said mask adjacent said visor to reduce the likelihood of reflections.
- 6. A method for manufacturing a liquid shield to protect the eyes of a wearer, comprising the steps of:
- forming a mask dimensioned to fit over the mouth and nose of a wearer;
- fixing a plastic visor to said mask to extend over and protect the eyes of the wearer from liquids directed at the eyes from exterior said visor, said step of fixing the visor to the mask comprises ultra-sonically sealing the visor to the mask; and
- forming a cutout proximate the center of said visor adjacent said mask to facilitate the conformance of said mask and said visor to the face of the wearer and to reduce the likelihood of reflections.
