Claims
- 1. A diagnostic apparatus for diagnosing a failure of an exhaust gas recirculation system of an internal combustion engine, comprising:a suction pipe pressure detecting means for detecting suction pipe pressure of the internal combustion engine; an operating condition detecting means for detecting an operating condition of the internal combustion engine; a determinant value calculating means for calculating a determinant value on the basis of the suction pipe pressure, for judging a failure; and a threshold value calculating means for making a failure judgment based on the determinant value; wherein a threshold value calculated and used by said threshold value calculating means, to judge said failure corresponds to at least one of engine suction air flow and engine speed detected by the operating condition detecting means.
- 2. A diagnostic apparatus for an internal combustion engine having an exhaust gas recirculation system, a first device for determining suction pipe pressure, and a second device for determining an operating state of the internal combustion engine, said diagnostic apparatus comprising:means for calculating a variable value based on section suction pipe pressure determined by said first device; means for setting a threshold value corresponding to at least one of an engine suction air flow and an engine speed determined by said second device; and means for judging a failure of the exhaust gas recirculation system based on said variable value and said threshold value.
