Claims
- 1. A liquid refrigerant distributor for use within a heat exchanger comprising:
- a body of heat exchange tubes;
- a mesh screen located above the body of heat exchanger tubes; and
- a liquid refrigerant sprayer, said liquid refrigerant sprayer adapted to spray refrigerant on said mesh screen and said mesh screen adapted to pass liquid and vapor refrigerant.
- 2. The distributor of claim 1 wherein the body of heat exchanger tubes includes at least a first row of heat exchanger tubes vertically above a second row of heat exchanger tubes and further including a mesh screen between said first and second rows of heat exchanger tubes.
- 3. The distributor of claim 1 wherein said mesh screen is corrugated, forming generally parallel peaks and valleys on said mesh screen.
- 4. The distributor of claim 3 wherein said liquid refrigerant distributor includes at least two mesh screens horizontally arranged below said liquid refrigerant sprayer, said mesh screens having varying pitch.
- 5. The distributor of claim 4 wherein at least one of said mesh screens is stacked on top of and supports one other of said screens.
- 6. The distributor of claim 5 further comprising at least one upper mesh screen and at least one lower mesh screen wherein said upper mesh screen has a higher pitch than said lower mesh screen.
- 7. The distributor of claim 5 wherein said peaks and valleys of one mesh screen are skewed with respect to said peaks and valleys of an adjacent mesh screen.
- 8. The distributor of claim 4 wherein said valleys of at least one mesh screen are adjacent to said peaks of an adjacent mesh screen.
- 9. The distributor of claim 4 wherein said at least two mesh screens include an upper screen and a lower screen and wherein the upper screen has a more dense pitch than the lower screen.
- 10. The distributor of claim 3 further comprising at least one bottom mesh screen located near said body of evaporator tubes wherein said valleys of said bottom mesh screen are generally parallel with and located above said body of evaporator tubes.
- 11. A liquid refrigerant distributor for use within a heat exchanger comprising:
- a body of heat exchange tubes;
- at least one bottom mesh screen located near said body of evaporator tubes, the bottom mesh screen having peaks and valleys wherein said valleys are generally parallel with and located above said body of tubes; and
- a liquid refrigerant sprayer, said liquid refrigerant sprayer adapted to spray refrigerant on said bottom mesh screen and said bottom mesh screen adapted to pass liquid and vaporous refrigerant.
- 12. The liquid refrigerant distributor of claim 11 further including at least one upper mesh screen having peaks and valleys, the upper mesh screen being stacked on top of the lower mesh screen wherein the peaks and valleys of the upper mesh screen are skewed with respect to the peaks and valleys of the lower mesh screen.
- 13. The distributor of claim 12 wherein the upper mesh screen has a higher pitch than the lower mesh screen.
- 14. The distributor of claim 13 wherein the body of heat exchanger tubes includes at least a first row of heat exchanger tubes vertically above a second row of heat exchanger tubes and further including a mesh screen between said first and second rows of heat exchanger tubes.
