Abstract
A “fan apparatus for the server” includes a fan casing placed at proper location on both sides of the server, and using a fan casing to fix a heat sink fan in order to keep a proper distance from side plate of the server, so that there are maximum air flow passing in and out during the operation to perform heat dissipation; and further, said heat sink fan enables a smoother air flow to decrease occurrence of turbulence and wind shear noise.
Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of the Invention

[0002] To install the heat sink fan inside the main server.

[0003] 2. Description of the Related Art

[0004] Generally in industrial computer server (C), a heat sink fan (A) is directly installed on top of CPU—Central Processing Unit (B) to dissipate heat generated by CPU (B). However, when using in multiple servers (C), such configuration will be overlapped one another so that no any significant space exists to cause hindrance of heat dissipation as shown in FIG. 4.

[0005] Another alternative is placing the heat sink fan (A) on side plate (C2) of the server (C) and opening a plurality of air inlet holes (C1) to achieve heat-dissipating effect by bringing air in through one hole and getting it out through another hole. Referring to FIG. 5, while it is performed to suck outside air, cross-section area of air passage will reduce severely to increase flow resistance so suction air decreases greatly to result in occurrence of turbulence and wind shear that is subject to cause noise during the operation.

[0006] In consideration of foregoing shortcomings that are known well, the present inventor commenced studying its improvements and eventually designed a fan apparatus for servers. A fan casing is installed on the side of the server, in which a fan is kept a proper distance from the side plate of the server to form a buffer zone between the fan and vent holes in order to decrease air resistance and generate maximum air flow passing through for achieving a heat-dissipating effect and creating a smooth air flow to decrease occurrence of turbulence and wind shear noise.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0007] It is therefore a major object of the present invention to provide a method that can quickly generate convective heat-dissipating effect within the server whenever required.

[0008] Another object of the present invention is to provide a server fan that can decrease noise resulted from turbulence and wind shear.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0014] Referring first to FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, the present invention is to install a fan casing 1 on side of the server, and a heat sink fan 2 is installed within such a casing 1, wherein said fan casing 1 has an ear-like section 11 vertically extending from the bottom of its both sides. Support holes 12 are opened on ear-like part 11 to enable support screws 13 to pass through fan casing 1 and be locked on the server. A lock piece 14 is integrally formed at each corner on front end of fan casing 1 and a fillister 15 is opened on its side to enable heat sink fan 2 to be locked together.

[0015] According to above structure, such heat sink fan 2 can be locked in fan casing 1 and its power cord 22 can be placed properly by using fillister 15.

[0016] Therefore when running, heat sink fan 2 can keep a proper distance from the side plate to enable external air smoothly entering in the server for its heat-dissipating. Due to convective heat dissipation performed by said fan, it can reduce hindrance of wind shear and noise to increase heat-removing effect from each element within the server.

Claims
  • 1. A fan apparatus for the server, wherein a fan easing comprising a heat sink fan is installed within the server, CHARACTERIZED because: Said fan casing has an ear-like section vertically extending from the bottom of its both sides, support holes are opened on such ear-like section to enable support screws to pass through fan casing and lock said casing on the server, a lock piece is integrally formed at each corner on front end of said casing, in which there opens a fillister at proper location; and further, said heat sink fan is connected with the lock piece by using support screws to enable the heat sink fan in the fan casing to keep a proper distance from side plate of the server.
