BACKGROUND

By way of background, patients during their stays in hospitals wear hospital gowns, also known as johnny gowns or medical gowns. The hospital gowns are designed to be loose and comfortable, allowing patients to move freely. Further, medical care can be easily provided to patients when the medical or hospital gowns are worn by patients. Hospital gowns also help in patient identification, as the gowns often have specific color coding that help medical staff quickly recognize different patients and their conditions.

However, standard hospital gowns are unattractive, plain, and boring. Typically, they come in a single solid color, such as green or blue, which can contribute to a sterile and impersonal environment. Unattractive conventional hospital gowns can have a psychological impact on patients which can even make them feel disappointed or less confident in their appearance while wearing the gown. For patients who are required to stay in the hospitals and medical care for extended periods, such as during long-term care or hospice stays, this can further exacerbate feelings of discomfort and emotional distress.

Standard hospital gowns can be challenging to put on and remove, especially for patients with limited mobility or strength. This difficulty can be particularly frustrating when patients need to change their undergarments for which the conventional hospital gowns need to be removed. The process of removing and re-donning the gown can be time-consuming and uncomfortable, adding to the overall inconvenience and dissatisfaction of the patient and caretaker experience. People desire improved hospital gowns that can overcome the problems associated with conventional hospital gowns.
