Claims
- 1. A signal transmitting device comprising:
- a main transmission line terminated by elements each having a resistance substantially equal to an impedance value of said main transmission line itself;
- a first circuit block connected to said main transmission line, said first circuit block including a driving circuit for driving a signal, and a first intra-block transmission line with a predetermined impedance for transmitting the signal outputted from said driving circuit to said main transmission line, said first circuit block including an element having a resistance substantially equal to a value derived by subtracting a half of an impedance of said main transmission line from the predetermined impedance of said first intra-block transmission line; and
- an at least one second circuit block connected to said main transmission line, said at least one second circuit block including a receiving circuit for receiving a signal; a second intra-block transmission line with a predetermined impedance for transmitting a signal inputted from said main transmission line to said receiving circuit, said second circuit block including an element having a resistance substantially equal to a value derived by subtracting a half of an impedance of said main transmission line from said predetermined impedance of said second intra-block transmission line,
- wherein said intra-block transmission line of said first circuit block further includes a circuit for changing the amplitude of the signal outputted from the driving circuit to have a predetermined one of a plurality of different signal amplitudes on the main transmission line.
- 2. A signal transmitting device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said circuit for changing said signal amplitude is composed of another resistance element, and a switch element establishing a parallel circuit of said another resistor element and said resistor element provided in said first intra-block transmission line upon driving of a signal and rendering said another resistance element open a certain time later than after the signal is driven.
- 3. A signal transmitting device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said circuit for changing said signal amplitude is composed of a capacitance element provided in parallel to an element provided in said first intra-block transmission line and a switch element rendering the capacitance element active closed when a signal is driven and non-active a certain time after the signal is driven out.
- 4. A signal transmitting device comprising:
- a main transmission line terminated by elements each having a resistance substantially equal to an impedance value of said main transmission line itself;
- a first circuit block connected to said main transmission line, said first circuit block including a driving circuit for driving a signal, and a first intra-block transmission line with a predetermined impedance for transmitting the signal outputted from said driving circuit to said main transmission line, said first circuit block including an element having a resistance substantially equal to a value derived by subtracting a half of an impedance of said main transmission line from the predetermined impedance of said first intra-block transmission line; and
- an at least one second circuit block connected to said main transmission line, said at least one second circuit block including a receiving circuit for receiving a signal; a second intra-block transmission line with a predetermined impedance for transmitting a signal inputted from said main transmission line to said receiving circuit, said second circuit block including an element having a resistance substantially equal to a value derived by subtracting a half of an impedance of said main transmission line from said predetermined impedance of said second intra-block transmission line,
- wherein a reference voltage used in said receiving circuit is generated inside of said receiving circuit.
- 5. A signal transmitting device comprising:
- a main transmission line being terminated by elements each having a resistance substantially equal to an impedance value of said main transmission line; and
- first and second circuit blocks connected to said main transmission line, each of said blocks having a driving and receiving circuit for driving and receiving a signal, and an intra-block transmission line having a predetermined impedance for transmitting a signal between said main transmission line and said driving and receiving circuit, each of said circuit blocks also having an element having a resistance substantially equal to a value derived by subtracting a half of an impedance of said main transmission line from said predetermined impedance of said intra-block transmission line;
- wherein said signal transmitting device further comprises in said intra-block transmission line of said circuit block a circuit for changing the amplitude of the signal outputted from the driving circuit to have a predetermined one of a plurality of different signal amplitudes on the main transmission line.
- 6. A signal transmitting device as claimed in claim 5, wherein said circuit for changing the signal amplitude is composed of a resistor element located in parallel to the elements provided in said intra-block transmission line and a switch element for switching said resistor element on and off, said switch element being closed when the signal is propagated and being opened a certain time later than after the signal is received.
- 7. A signal transmitting device as claimed in claim 5, wherein said circuit for changing the signal amplitude is composed of a capacitance element located in parallel to the element provided in said intra-block transmission line and a switch element for switching said capacitance element on and off, said switch element being closed when the signal is driven and being opened a certain time later than after the signal is driven.
- 8. A signal transmitting device comprising:
- a main transmission line terminated at one end or both ends by elements each having a resistance substantially equal to an impedance value of said main transmission line itself;
- a first circuit block connected to said main transmission line, said first circuit block having a first intra-block transmission line with a predetermined impedance and an element having a resistance substantially equal to a value derived by subtracting half of an impedance of said main transmission line from said predetermined impedance of said first intra-block transmission line and a signal driving circuit unit comprised of a circuit for propagating a signal and a first intra-unit transmission line for transmitting said signal, said intra-unit transmission line having the same impedance as that of said first intra-block transmission line;
- a second circuit block connected to said main transmission line, said second circuit block having a second intra-block transmission line with a predetermined impedance and an element having a resistance substantially equal to a value derived by subtracting a half of an impedance of said main transmission line from said predetermined impedance of said intra-block transmission line and a signal receiving circuit unit comprised of a receiving circuit for receiving the signal and a second intra-unit transmission line for transmitting the signal from said second intra-block transmission line to said receiving circuit, and said intra-unit transmission line having the same impedance as that of said second intra-block transmission line.
- 9. A signal transmitting device as claimed in claim 8, further comprising:
- a mother board on which said main transmission line is mounted;
- a first daughter board connected to said mother board, on which said first intra-block transmission line is formed on Printed Circuit Board (PCB);
- an integrated circuit package to be mounted on said PCB, said package having said driving circuit mounted thereon and said intra-block transmission line for transmitting the signal propagate from said driving circuit to said printed wiring as an in-package line;
- a second daughter connected to said mother board and having said second intra-block transmission line formed on the PCB;
- an integrated circuit package mounted on said second daughter board, said package having said receiving circuit and said intra-unit transmission line formed on the PCB.
- 10. A signal transmitting device as claimed in claim 9, further comprising connectors for connecting said mother board with said daughter boards, respectively.
- 11. A signal transmitting device comprising:
- a main transmission line being terminated by one or two elements each having a resistance substantially equal to an impedance value of said main transmission line;
- first and second circuit blocks being connected to said main transmission line, each of said first and second circuit blocks having an intra-block transmission line with a predetermined impedance and an element having a resistance substantially equal to a value derived by subtracting half of an impedance of said transmission line from said predetermined impedance of said intra-block transmission line, and a signal driving and receiving unit having a driving and receiving circuit for propagating and receiving a signal, and an intra-unit transmitting line for transmitting the signal between the intra-block transmitting line and said signal driving and receiving circuit, said intra-unit transmitting line having the same impedance as that of said intra-block transmitting line.
- 12. A signal transmitting device as claimed in claim 11, further comprising:
- a mother board on which said main transmission line is located;
- first and second daughter connected to said main transmission line and having said intra-block transmission line as a printed wiring; and
- an integrated circuit package mounted on said PCB and having said driving circuit and said receiving circuit and said intra-block transmission line as an intra-package line.
- 13. A signal transmitting device as claimed in claim 12, further comprising:
- connectors for connecting said mother board with said daughter boards, respectively.
- 14. A signal transmitting device comprising:
- a main transmission line terminated at one end or both ends by elements each having a resistance substantially equal to an impedance value of said main transmission line itself;
- a first circuit block connected to said main transmission line, said first circuit block having a first intra-block transmission line with a predetermined impedance and an element having a resistance substantially equal to a value derived by subtracting a half of an impedance of said main transmission line from said predetermined impedance of said first intra-block transmission line and a signal driving circuit unit comprised of a circuit for propagating a signal and a first intra-unit transmission line for transmitting said signal, said intra-unit transmission line having the same impedance as that of said first intra-block transmission line;
- a second circuit block connected to said main transmission line, said second circuit block having a second intra-block transmission line with a predetermined impedance and an element having a resistance substantially equal to a value derived by subtracting half of an impedance of said main transmission line from said predetermined impedance of said intra-block transmission line and a signal receiving circuit unit comprised of a receiving circuit for receiving the signal and a second intra-unit transmission line for transmitting the signal from said second intra-block transmission line to said receiving circuit, and said intra-unit transmission line having the same impedance as that of said second intra-block transmission line,
- wherein each of said elements has a resistance ranging from 0.5 times to 1.5 times of said value.
- 15. A signal transmitting device comprising:
- a main transmission line being terminated by one or two elements each having a resistance substantially equal to an impedance value of said main transmission line;
- first and second circuit block being connected to said main transmission line, each of said first and second circuit blocks having an intra-block transmission line with a predetermined impedance and an element having a resistance substantially equal to a value derived by subtracting a half of an impedance of said transmission line from said predetermined impedance of said intra-block transmission line, a signal driving and receiving unit having a driving and receiving circuit for propagating and receiving a signal, and an intra-unit transmitting line for transmitting the signal between the intra-block transmitting line and said signal driving and receiving circuit, said intra-unit transmitting lines having the same impedance as that of said intra-block transmitting line,
- wherein said elements each have a resistance ranging from 0.5 times to 1.5 times of said value.
- 16. A signal transmitting device comprising:
- a main transmission line, said main transmission line being terminated at one or both ends thereof, and
- circuit blocks connected with said main transmission line;
- said circuit block comprising:
- a driving circuit for driving a signal,
- a subtransmission line connected to said main transmission line and said circuit block, and
- a resistor connected between said main transmission line and said sub-transmission line to suppress reflections at a branch point between the main transmission line and the subtransmission line,
- wherein a waiting time for reading the signal after said driving circuit is switched is equal to a time `t` where:
- Td=<t<2 Td
- where Td is a time required for the signal to be transmitted from one end to the other end of said main transmission line.
- 17. A signal transmission device comprising:
- a main transmission line, said main transmission line being terminated at both ends thereof; and
- a circuit block connected with said main transmission line;
- said circuit block comprising:
- a driving circuit including an output circuit of a push-pull type for driving a signal,
- a receiving circuit including a differential input circuit for receiving a signal,
- a package for driving and receiving circuit including an intra-package wiring for transmitting a signal between said driving circuit, said receiving circuit and the exterior of said package,
- a sub-transmission line connecting said main transmission line and said intra-package wiring of said driving and receiving circuit package, and
- a resistor connected between said main transmission line and said sub-transmission line, said resistor having a resistance value to provide impedance matching between the main transmission line and the sub-transmission line to suppress reflections at a branch point between the main transmission line and the sub-transmission line,
- wherein an impedance of said intra-package wiring has a value of 0.5 to 1.5 times an impedance of said sub-transmission line.
- 18. A signal transmitting device, comprising:
- a main transmission line, said main transmission line being terminated at one end thereof; and
- a signal driving circuit block connected with said main transmission line, said signal driving circuit block comprising:
- a driving circuit package including a driving circuit formed of an output circuit of a push-pull type for driving a signal, and a first intra-package wiring transmitting a signal between said driving circuit and the exterior of said driving circuit package,
- a first sub-transmission line for connecting said main transmission line and said first intra-package wiring, and
- a resistor connected between said main transmission line and said first sub-transmission line, said resistor having a resistance value to provide impedance matching between the main transmission line and the first sub-transmission line to suppress reflections at a branch point between the main transmission line and the first sub-transmission line; and
- a signal receiving circuit block connecting with said main transmission line, said signal receiving circuit block comprising:
- a receiving circuit package including a receiving circuit including a differential input circuit for receiving a signal, and a second intra-package wiring for transmitting a signal between said receiving circuit and the exterior of said receiving circuit package,
- a second sub-transmission line connecting said main transmission line and said second intra-package wiring, and
- a resistor connected between said main transmission line and said second sub-transmission line, said resistor having a resistance value to provide impedance matching between the main transmission line and the second sub-transmission to suppress reflections at a branch point between the main transmission line and the second sub-transmission line,
- wherein impedances of said first and second intra-package wirings having a value of 0.5 to 1.5 times impedances of said first and second sub-transmission lines.
