Claims
- 1. A method of making a reclosable bag having top and bottom seals and opposing front and rear walls, said reclosable bag made from web material having a length and a width, comprising the steps of: connecting a predetermined length of fastener tape substantially perpendicular to said length of said web material, said fastener tape having an interlocked fastener connected thereto, wherein said fastener tape is substantially h-shaped and has a first and second leg; forming said opposing front and rear walls and said top and bottom seals to form the bag where the tape is connected to the front wall; and connecting the fastener tape to said rear wall at an additional location other tan said interlocked fastener where the tape is formed by connecting said interlocked fastener to said first and second legs and connecting barrier tape to an inside wall of said first and second legs.
- 2. A method of making a reclosable bag having top and bottom seals and opposing front and rear walls, said reclosable bag made from web material having a length and a width, comprising the steps of: connecting a predetermined length of fastener tape substantially perpendicular to said length of said web material, said fastener tape having an interlocked fastener connected thereto, wherein said fastener tape is substantially h-shaped and has a first and second leg; forming said opposing front and rear walls and said top and bottom seals to form the bag where the tape is connected to the front wall; and connecting the fastener tape to said rear wall at an additional location other than said interlocked fastener where the tape is formed by connecting said interlocked fastener to said first and second legs and coating an inside wall of said first and second legs to make each said inside wall non-sealing.

This application claims priority from U.S. Provisional Patent Application Ser. No. 60/022,353 filed Jul. 24, 1996; U.S. Provisional Patent Application Ser. No. 60/036,186 filed Jan. 18, 1997, and U.S. Provisional Patents Application Ser. No. 60/035,051 filed Jan. 22, 1997 all invented by the present inventor, James R. Johnson. This invention relates generally to reclosable plastic bags and in particular to tape used in the manufacture of reclosable plastic bags, the web that the bags are made from, methods related to their manufacture, and an apparatus for manufacturing reclosable bags that is more efficient and economical than conventional methods and devices.
