Claims
- 1. A method for producing a carbon black comprising introducing hydrocarbon feedstock into the precombustion section of a carbon black reactor having a precombustion zone and a combustion zone through a reactor feedstock nozzle said method comprising seriatim cycling of feedstock flow to at least two of the components of the reactor nozzle said nozzle having as component parts:
- (a) a central pipe with a diverging nozzle outlet with means for supplying a separate control supply of inlet material, and
- (b) multiple concentric annuli surrounding said central pipe each annulus having a diverging nozzle outlet with a spray angle different from the other annuli and means for supplying a separate, controlled supply of inlet material to each annulus.
- 2. A method of claim 1 wherein both the outermost concentric annulus and the central pipe are supplied with a coolant fluid as inlet material and all other concentric annuli are arranged to be supplied with hydrocarbon inlet material.
- 3. A method of claim 2 wherein said coolant fluid is air.
- 4. A method for producing carbon black comprising introducing hydrocarbon feedstock into a combustion section of a carbon black reactor having a precombustion zone and a combustion zone through a reactor feedstock nozzle said method comprising seriatim cycling of feedstock flow to at least two of the components of the reactor nozzle said nozzle having as component parts:
- (a) a central pipe with a diverging nozzle outlet with means for supplying a separate control supply of inlet material, and
- (b) multiple concentric annuli surrounding said central pipe each annulus having a diverging nozzle outlet with a spray angle different from the other annuli and means for supplying a separate, controlled supply of inlet material to each annulus.
- 5. A method of claim 4 wherein both the outermost concentric annulus and the central pipe are supplied with a coolant fluid as inlet material and all other concentric annuli are arranged to be supplied with hydrocarbon inlet material.
- 6. A method of claim 5 wherein said coolant fluid is air.
