Claims
- 1. A fiber optic circuit comprising:a first optical signal pathway; a second optical signal pathway; means for selecting between a normal through state and a loop back state, wherein in the normal through state, the first and second pathways are not connected, and wherein in the loopback state the first and second pathways are connected to define two loopback pathways; means for providing access to the first optical signal pathway to optically link third and fourth optical signal pathways to the first optical signal pathway; and means for providing access to the second optical signal pathway to optically link fifth and sixth optical signal pathways to the second optical signal pathway; wherein in the loopback state, the means for providing access to the first optical signal pathway provides access to one of the loopback pathways, and the means for providing access to the second optical signal pathway provides access to the other loopback pathway.
- 2. The fiber optic circuit of claim 1, wherein the means for providing access to each of the first and second signal pathways includes a non-intrusive device optically connected to the respective optical signal pathways.
- 3. The fiber optic circuit of claim 2, wherein the non-intrusive device includes a splitter.
- 4. The fiber optic circuit of claim 1, further including:a first transmit terminal optically connected to the first optical signal pathway; and a first receive terminal optically connected to the third optical signal pathway.
- 5. The fiber optic circuit of claim 4, further including:a second transmit terminal optically connected to the second optical signal pathway; and a second receive terminal optically connected to the fourth optical signal pathway.
- 6. The fiber optic circuit of claim 1, further comprising fiber optic adapters connected to each of the first and second optical signal pathways.
- 7. The fiber optic circuit of claim 1, wherein the means for selecting includes a 2×2 switch between the first and second optical signal pathways.
- 8. The fiber optic circuit of claim 1, wherein the first optical signal pathway is a transmit pathway and the second optical signal pathway is a receive pathway.
- 9. The fiber optic circuit of claim 1, wherein the first optical signal pathway is located between first and second connection points and the second optical signal pathway located between third and fourth connection points.
