Claims
- 1. A fill valve for a water tank, comprising:
- a riser assembly;
- a valve housing mounted on the riser assembly;
- a pilot operated diaphragm valve mounted in the valve housing;
- a valve housing cap with a pilot orifice covering the pilot operated diaphragm valve, the valve housing cap having a pair of spaced apart fixed pivot pins; and
- a combination float arm and float, the float arm having a first end pivotally connected to the valve housing cap for opening and closing the pilot orifice in the valve housing cap, the float arm having a second end connected to the float, the first end of the float arm including a central arm and a pair of pivot arms disposed on opposite sides of the central arm and being laterally displaceable for positioning between and engaging the pair of spaced apart fixed pivot pins on the valve housing cap.
- 2. The fill valve of claim 1 and further comprising a float housing connected to the valve housing and enclosing the float.
- 3. The fill valve of claim 2 wherein the float housing has an opening in a side wall thereof for controlling the inlet of water into the float housing and a check valve in a drain opening in a bottom wall of the float housing for controlling the drainage of water from the float housing.
- 4. The fill valve of claim 1 wherein the pivot pins extend laterally from corresponding upwardly extending fingers connected to the valve housing cap.
- 5. The fill valve of claim 1 and further comprising a valve member mounted on an underside of the central arm for engaging the valve housing cap and sealing the pilot orifice.
- 6. The fill valve of claim 5 wherein the valve member is a disc made of an elastomeric material.
- 7. The fill valve of claim 6 wherein the central arm has a circular recess in which the disc is mounted.
- 8. The fill valve of claim 7 wherein the recess is formed with a plurality of inwardly directed ribs for holding the disc.
- 9. The fill valve of claim 2 wherein the float arm has a generally L-shaped configuration and the float housing has a generally box-shaped configuration.
- 10. The fill valve of claim 1 wherein the pivot arms each have a through bore that receives a corresponding pivot pin.
