Claims
- 1. A wrapping machine comprising:
- a film feeding means for feeding a film cut to a predetermined length to a predetermined position of the wrapping machine, clamping edge portions of the film, so that when the film feeding is completed, the cut film is positioned approximately symmetrically in respect to the central line of the predetermined position which is perpendicular to the film feeding direction regardless of the cut film length;
- film clamping means constituted by left, right, and central sections for independently clamping the right, left and central parts of the respective film edge portions which are perpendicular to the film feeding direction;
- film folding means constituted by left and right folding plates and a front folding plate, wherein said left and right folding plates are disposed above the predetermined position of the wrapping machine sliding in the mutually opposite direction, for folding the lengthwise opposing edge portions of the film underneath the article to be wrapped, and said front folding plate is disposed above the predetermined position of the machine sliding in the direction perpendicular to the left and right folding plates sliding direction, for folding one edge portion perpendicular to the film lengthwise direction underneath the article to be wrapped;
- infeeding means for feeding in an article to be wrapped from the direction perpendicular to the film feeding direction onto the upper side of lifting means;
- lifting means for lifting the article to be wrapped fed in by said infeed means into engaging contact with the film clamped by said clamping means so that the upper part of the article to be wrapped may be covered by the film;
- tension control means for adjusting the tension of the film when wrapping is completed;
- wherein said tension control means controls the lengthwise film tension by controlling at least one of the left and right folding plates operating timing and releasing timing of the right and left sections of the film clamping means, and controls the film tension in the direction perpendicular to the lengthwise direction by controlling at least one of the front folding plate operating timing and the releasing timing of the central section of the film clamping means on the front folding plate side.
- 2. The wrapping machine according to claim 1, wherein said tension control means adjusts the tension of the film by controlling the clamping means releasing timing.
- 3. The wrapping machine according to claim 2, including an operational means comprising a first input means for selecting a tray type, a second input means for setting the film tension strength and a third input means for setting the cut length of the film so that the film clamping means releasing timing is determined on the basis of the values set by the first, second and third input means.
- 4. The wrapping machine according to claim 2, wherein said tension control means controls operating timing of said left and right folding plates in dependence upon a cut length of the film.
- 5. The wrapping machine according to claim 4, wherein when the cut length of the film is small, said control means increases the operating timing of the left and right folding plates when compared with the operating timing when the cut length of the film is large.
- 6. The wrapping machine according to claim 1, including a timing signal generating means for generating timing signal in synchronization with the rotation of the main drive section so that said operating and releasing timings are determined on the basis of said timing signal.
- 7. A wrapping machine according to claim 1, further comprising a sensor means for detecting the size of an article to be wrapped, said sensor means being installed in said infeed means, wherein a time difference between a time at which the folding plates start operating and a time at which the film clamping means released the film is adjusted on the basis of the detection result of said sensor means.
- 8. The wrapping machine according to claim 6, wherein the film fed by the film feeding means upon being cut to the predetermined length is extended at a predetermined position of the wrapping machine, the article to be wrapped is lifted into engaging contact with the extended film by the lifting means and left, right, front and rear edge portion of the film are folded under the article to be wrapped by the film folding means, a control apparatus for said wrapping machine comprising:
- said timing signal generating means for generating the timing signal in synchronism with the rotation of the main drive section driving the wrapping machine;
- basic timing data memory means for storing basic operating times, which are necessary for operating time adjustment, of various operating elements of the wrapping machine, each of said basic operating times being stored as a counted value indicative of the number of said timing signals generated;
- manipulatable control means for adjustment provided for corresponding one of said operating elements for adjusting the operating time of the operating elements;
- operating time data memory means for storing data indicative of the operating time of each operating element; and
- control means for determining operating time data for each of the operating elements on the basis of data from said basic timing data memory means and information from said manipulatable control means for adjustment , storing said operating time data in said operating time data memory means, counting and timing signals from said timing signal generating means, and, when the counted value and the operating time data for a particular one of the operating elements stored in said operating time data memory means attain a predetermined relationship, actuating the particular operating element.
- 9. The wrapping machine according to claim 8 wherein said manipulatable control means for adjustment includes first and second manipulatable control means for adjustment, said operating time data memory means includes first and second operating time data memory means, and said control means determines operating time data for each of the operating elements on the basis of data from said basic timing data memory means and information from said first manipulatable control means for adjustment, stores said operating time data in said first operating time date memory means, determines operating time data for each of the operating elements on the basis of data from said first operating time data memory means and information from said second manipulatable control means for adjustment, and stores said operating time data in said second operating time data memory means.
- 10. The wrapping machine according to claims 8 or 9 wherein operating time data stored in said operating time data memory means includes first operating time data indicated by the counted value indicative of the number of said timing signals, and second operating time data indicated by time kept by a timer, and when the counted value and the first operating time data attain a predetermined relationship, said control means actuates the corresponding operating element upon expiration of said second operating time.
- 11. A method for wrapping an article in a film by a wrapping machine comprising the steps of:
- extending the film at a predetermined part of the wrapping machine;
- clamping at least a front edge portion of the film laterally thereof at left, right and central portions by clamping mechanisms;
- lifting the article into engaging contact with the clamped film from below and folding a lower edge portion of the film underneath the article by at least left, right and front folding plates;
- adjusting a time difference between a time at which left and right folding plates start folding the left and right portions of the film edge and a time at which clamping mechanism release the left and right portions of the film edge, in folding the lower edge portion of the film under the article, the adjustment being made on the basis of the length of the article in the film feeding direction or a length to which the film is cut; and
- adjusting a time difference between a time at which the front folding plate starts folding the front portion of the film edge and a time at which the clamping mechanism releases the central portion of the film edge, the adjustment being made on the basis of the length of the article in a direction perpendicular to the film feeding direction.
- 12. The method according to claim 11, further including:
- folding the lower edge portion of the film under the article;
- adjusting a time difference between a time at which the left and right folding plates start operating and a time at which the left and right clamping mechanisms release the film, the adjustment being made on the basis of the width and height of the article or on the basis of the length to which the film is cut and the height of the article; and
- adjusting, based on the length and height of the article, a time difference between the time at which the front folding plate starts operating and a time at which the central clamping mechanism releases the film.
- 13. A method according to claims 11 or 12, further including detecting the size of an article to be wrapped by a sensor installed in said infeed means; and
- adjusting the time difference between a time at which the folding plates start operating and a time at which the film clamping means releases the film on the basis of the detection result.
