Claims
- 1. A film unit comprising:
image capture media for capturing images; and a radio-frequency identification transponder disposed in association with said image capture media, said transponder being retained in said association during said capturing.
- 2. The film unit of claim 1 wherein said transponder is an inlay transponder.
- 3. The film unit of claim 1 wherein said transponder is permanently affixed in said association.
- 4. The film unit of claim 1 wherein said transponder is mounted to said image capture media.
- 5. The film unit of claim 1 wherein said film unit includes a holder and said transponder is mounted to said holder.
- 6. The film unit of claim 1 wherein said transponder has a plurality of separately addressable information storage units.
- 7. The film unit of claim 1 further comprising removable packaging surrounding said image capture media external to said transponder.
- 8. The film unit of claim 7 wherein said image capture media is photographic film.
- 9. The film unit of claim 8 wherein said film is developed.
- 10. The film unit of claim 8 wherein said packaging is waterproof and fully encloses said image capture media.
- 11. The film unit of claim 1 wherein said image capture media is operative without removal of said transponder.
- 12. The film unit of claim 1 wherein said image capture media is a film unit having a canister and a filmstrip attached to said canister.
- 13. The film unit of claim 12 wherein said transponder is mounted to said canister.
- 14. The camera of claim 1 wherein said film unit includes a filmstrip and said transponder is mounted to said filmstrip.
- 15. The film unit of claim 1 wherein said film unit further comprises a holder having a light-tight media area, said image capture media is light-sensitive and is disposable within said media area, and said transponder is disposed in said media area.
- 16. A film unit comprising
a piece of film; a holder for said film; and a radio-frequency identification inlay transponder joined to one of said piece of film and said holder.
- 17. The film unit of claim 16 wherein said inlay transponder is joined to said piece of film.
- 18. The film unit of claim 17 wherein said film is a filmstrip having a leading portion and a trailing portion and said inlay transponder is joined to one of said portions.
- 19. The film unit of claim 18 wherein said filmstrip is coiled.
- 20. The film unit of claim 16 wherein said inlay transponder is joined to said holder.
- 21. The film unit of claim 20 wherein said holder is a spool.
- 22. The film unit of claim 21 wherein said spool has a shaft and a pair of opposed flanges joined to said shaft and said inlay transponder is joined to said shaft.
- 23. The film unit of claim 22 wherein said shaft has an inner surface and an outer surface and said inlay transponder is joined to said inner surface.
- 24. The film unit of claim 16 wherein said holder has a spool and a shell partially enclosing said spool and said inlay transponder is joined to said shell.
- 25. The camera of claim 16 wherein said inlay transponder is adhered to said holder.
- 26. An imaging system comprising:
a film unit including:
a body; an image capture assembly mounted in said body; and a radio-frequency identification inlay transponder mounted to said body; and an interrogation unit accessing said transponder; and an imaging unit receiving image information from said image capture assembly.
