Claims
- 1. A fluid filter comprising:
- a housing defining a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet;
- a filter element defining an upstream surface communicating with the fluid inlet and downstream cylindrical surface communicating with the fluid outlet, the filter element comprising a stack of filter disks defining a hollow volume interior thereof, and
- backflushing means for removing filtered out sediment from the filter element, said backflushing means comprising an axially displaceable backflushing nozzle assembly disposed within the hollow volume including a rotating head coupled to the fluid inlet and having fluid outlet means, arranged to provide a generally radially directed pressurized jet and a jet which provides rotational motion of the rotating head.
- 2. A fluid filter system comprising:
- a housing defining a fluid inlet and fluid outlet;
- a filter element defining an upstream surface communicating with the fluid inlet and a downstream surface communicating with the fluid outlet; the filter element comprising a stack of filter disks defining a hollow volume interiorly thereof and a longitudinal axis; and
- backflushing means for removing filtered out sediment from the filter element, said backflushing means comprising a hollow pipe connected to an external backflushing fluid inlet at one end and to a displaceable nozzle assembly disposed within said hollow volume at the other end, said backflushing nozzle assembly comprising a rotating head communicating with the backflushing fluid inlet, said rotating head having at least one fluid outlet arranged to provide a generally radially directed pressurized jet,
- wherein said rotating head comprises at least one fluid outlet arranged to provide an eccentrically directed stream for driving the rotating head in a rotational motion during the backflushing operation.
- 3. A fluid filter system according to claim 2, wherein said stack of filter elements comprises a plurality of cooperating filter disks defining a plurality of paired cooperating filter surfaces, comprising:
- a first surface defining a plurality of spaced, generally circumferentially extending raised line portions; and
- a second surface defining a plurality of generally radially extending fingers each outlined by a continuous raised line, the exterior of the fingers communicating with either one of the upstream side or the downstream side and the interiors of the fingers communicating with the other one of the upstream side or the downstream side.
- 4. A fluid filter system according to claim 3, wherein said continuous raised line on the second surface defines plurality of passages between the upstream side and the downstream side.
- 5. A fluid filter system according to claim 3, wherein said continuous raised line on the second surface is continuous along the entire second surface and defines a closed loop.
- 6. A fluid filter system according to claim 2, wherein said stack of filter disks comprises a plurality of cooperating filter disks defining a plurality of paired cooperating filter surfaces, at least one surface of some of said paired surfaces is defined by grooves providing passage of fluid from the upstream side to the downstream side.
- 7. A fluid filter system comprising:
- a housing defining a first opening in communication with non-filtered fluid, a second opening in communication with filtered fluid, and a third opening in communication with means for providing backflushing fluid;
- a filter element disposed within said housing defining an axial interior volume, a downstream side interiorly of the filter element and an upstream side exteriorly of the filter element said filter element being arranged as a filter barrier between the non-filtered fluid in communication with said upstream side and said first opening and between the filtered fluid in communication with the downstream side and said second opening;
- a movable discharge device rotatably disposed within said interior volume, said discharge device having at least one eccentric outlet being arranged to discharge an eccentric jet of pressurized fluid in order to effect the rotational movement of said discharge device; and
- hollow means penetrating through said third opening and defining two ends, one end thereof being associated with said discharge device, the other end being in communication with an external backflushing fluid inlet, said backflushing fluid inlet in communication with an external pressurized fluid source to provide pressurized fluid from said pressurized fluid source to said discharge device through said hollow means.
- 8. A fluid filter system according to claim 7, wherein said housing comprises a fourth outlet as a drain.
- 9. A fluid filter system according to claim 7, wherein said discharge device is arranged to move linearly along said interior volume.
- 10. A fluid filter system according to claim 9, wherein said discharge device comprises at least one outlet for discharging a substantially radially pressurized fluid jet in order to impinge said fluid jet on said filter element.
- 11. A fluid filter system according to claim 9, wherein said discharge device is arranged to simultaneously move linearly and rotationally.
- 12. A fluid filter system according to claim 7, wherein said first opening is a drain.
- 13. A fluid filter system comprising:
- a housing defining a first opening in communication with non-filtered fluid, a second opening in communication with filtered fluid and a third opening in communication with a backflushing means;
- a filter element disposed within said housing defining an axial interior volume, a downstream side interiorly of the filter element and an upstream side exteriorly of the filter element, said filter element being arranged as a filter barrier between the non-filtered fluid in communication with said upstream side and said first opening and between the filtered fluid in communication with the downstream side and said second opening;
- a discharge device disposed within said interior volume comprising at least one discharge backflushing outlet arranged to move within said interior volume; and
- hollow means penetrating through said third opening, wherein one side thereof is associated with said discharge device and the other side thereof is communication with an external backflushing fluid inlet, said inlet being in communication with an external pressurized fluid source to transfer backflushing fluid from said external pressurized fluid source to said discharge device, said discharge device, said hollow means and said pressurized backflushing fluid inlet being arranged to move together in linear movement to effect a cleaning operation,
- wherein said discharge device is arranged to rotate substantially within said interior volume and comprising at least one eccentric outlet for discharging pressurized fluid to create said rotational movement.
- 14. A fluid discharge device according to claim 13, wherein said discharge device is arranged to move linearly interior to said interior volume along an axis.
- 15. A fluid discharge device according to claim 14, wherein said discharge device is arranged to simultaneously move rotationally around said axis, linearly along said axis, and within said interior volume.
